¹दाऊद वृद्ध भए, यसर्थ तिनले आफ्ना छोरा सुलेमानलाई इस्राएलका नयाँ राजा बनाए।

¹And David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

²दाऊदले इस्राएलका समस्त अगुवा पूजाहारीहरू अनि लेवीहरूलाई पनि भेला गरे।

²And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

³दाऊदले तीस र्बष अनि त्यस भन्दा अधिक उमेर भएका लेवीहरूको गिन्ती लिए। जम्मा 38,000 लेवीहरू थिए।

³And the Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward; and their number, by their polls, man by man, was thirty-eight thousand.

⁴दाऊदले भने, “24,000 लेवीहरूले परमप्रभुको मन्दिर निर्माण कार्यको हेरचाह गर्नेछन्। 6,000 लेवीहरू सुरक्षा कर्मी अनि न्यायकर्त्ताहरू हुनेछन्।

⁴Of these, twenty-four thousand were to preside over the work of the house of Jehovah; and six thousand were officers and judges;

⁵चारहजार लेवीहरू द्वार-पालक हुनेछन् अनि 4,000 विशेष वाध्य-यन्त्र लेवीहरू बनाएको छु। ती यन्त्रहरू तिनीहरूले परमप्रभुको स्तुतिका निम्ति प्रयोग गर्नेछन्।”

⁵and four thousand were doorkeepers; and four thousand praised Jehovah with the instruments which I made, [said David,] to praise [therewith].

⁶दाऊदले लेवीहरूलाई तीन समूहमा विभाजन गरे। ती लेवीका तीन जना छोराहरू गेर्शोन, कहात र मरारीका परिवार समूहहरू थिए।

⁶And David divided them into courses according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

⁷गेर्शोनको परिवार समूहबाट लादान र शिमी थिए।

⁷Of the Gershonites: Laadan and Shimei.

⁸लादानका तीन जना छोराहरू थिए। तिनका सबै भन्दा जेठा छोरा यहीएल थिए। तिनका अन्य छोराहरू जेताम अनि योएल थिए।

⁸The sons of Laadan: the head was Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.

⁹शिमीका छोराहरू शलोमोत, हजीएल अनि हारान थिए। यी तीन छोराहरू लादानको परिवारका अगुवाहरू थिए।

⁹The sons of Shimei: Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief fathers of Laadan.

¹⁰शिमीका चार जना छोराहरू यहत, जीजा, येऊश अनि बरीआ थिए।

¹⁰And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Ziza, and Jeush, and Beriah. These were the four sons of Shimei.

¹¹यहत सबै भन्दा जेठा छोरा थिए अनि जीजा महिला छोरा येऊश अनि बरीआलाई एकै परिवारको रूपमा गन्ती गरिन्थ्यो।

¹¹And Jahath was the head, and Ziza the second; and Jeush and Beriah had not many sons: as father's house, therefore, they were reckoned as one.

¹²कहातका चार जना छोराहरू अम्राम, यिसहार, हेब्रोन अनि उज्जीएल थिए।

¹²The sons of Kohath: Amram, Jizhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

¹³अम्रामका छोराहरू हारून अनि मोशा थिए। हारूनलाई अति विशिष्ट हुनको निम्ति चुनिएको थियो। हारून अनि तिनका सन्तानहरूलाई सदासर्वदा विशिष्ट हुनको निम्ति चुनिएको थियो। तिनीहरू परमप्रभुको सेवाको निम्ति सबै पवित्र सामग्रीहरू तयार गर्नलाई चुनिएका थिए। हारून अनि तिनका सन्तानहरू परमप्रभुको समक्ष धूप बाल्नुको निम्ति चुनिएका थिए। तिनीहरू परमप्रभुको सेवाका निम्ति पूजाहारीरूको रूपमा चुनिएका थिए। तिनीहरूलाई परमप्रभुको पवित्र नाउँमा मानिसहरूलाई आशीर्वाद दिन सदाका निम्ति चुनिएको थियो।

¹³The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. And Aaron was separated, that he should be hallowed as most holy, he and his sons for ever, to offer before Jehovah, to do service to him, and to bless in his name for ever.

¹⁴जहाँ सम्म परमप्रभुका जन मोशा सम्बन्धित उसका छोराहरू लेवी कुल समूहमा गाभिए।

¹⁴-- And as to Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.

¹⁵मोशाका छोराहरू गेर्शोम अनि एलीएजर थिए।

¹⁵The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.

¹⁶गेर्शोमका सबै भन्दा जेठा छोरा। शबूएल थिए।

¹⁶The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the head.

¹⁷एलीएजेरका सबै भन्दा जेठा छोरा रहब्याह थिए। एलीएजेरका अन्य छोराहरू थिएनन्। तर रहब्याहका धेरै छोराहरू थिए।

¹⁷And the sons of Eliezer: Rehabiah the head; and Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.

¹⁸यिसहारका सबै भन्दा जेठा छोरा शलोमीत थिए।

¹⁸-- The sons of Jizhar: Shelomith the head.

¹⁹हेब्रोनका सबै भन्दा जेठा छोरा यरियाह, माहिला छोरा अमर्याह थिए। यहजीएल साहिंला छोरा थिए अनि यक्माम कान्छा छोरा थिए।

¹⁹The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the head, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

²⁰उज्जीएलका सबै भन्दा जेठा छोरा मीका अनि यिशियाह कान्छा छोरा थिए।

²⁰The sons of Uzziel: Micah the head, and Jishijah the second.

²¹मरारीका छोराहरूः महली र मूशी थिए। महलीका छोराहरूः एलाजार अनि कीश थिए।

²¹The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.

²²एलाजारको छोराहरू नभई मृत्यु भयो। तिनका छोरीहरू मात्र थिए। एलाजारका छोरीहरूले आफन्तहरूसित विवाह गरे। तिनीहरूका आफन्तहरू कीशका छोराहरू थिए।

²²And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters; and their brethren the sons of Kish took them.

²³मूशीका छोराहरूः महली, एदेर र यरीमोत गरी। जम्मा तीन जना छोराहरू थिए।

²³The sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

²⁴यी लेवीका सन्तानहरू थिए। सूचीमा तिनीहरूको नाउँ आफ्ना परिवार-परिवार अनुसार थियो। ती परिवारका प्रधानहरू थिए। प्रत्येक व्यक्तिको नाउँ सूचीमा लेखिएको थियो। सूचीमा लेखिएका व्यक्तिहरू बीस वर्ष वा त्यस भन्दा माथिका थिए। तिनीहरू परमप्रभुको मन्दिरमा सेवा गर्थे।

²⁴These were the sons of Levi according to their fathers' houses, the chief fathers, as they were reckoned, by number of names by their polls, who did the work of the service of the house of Jehovah, from twenty years old and upward.

²⁵दाऊदले भनेका थिए, “परमप्रभु इस्राएलका परमेश्वरले उहाँका मानिसहरूलाई शान्ति दिनुभएको छ। परमप्रभु सदा सर्वदा रहनको निम्ति यरूशलेममा आउनुभएको छ।

²⁵For David said, Jehovah the God of Israel has given rest to his people, and he will dwell in Jerusalem for ever;

²⁶यसर्थ लेवीहरूले पवित्र पाल वा सेवामा प्रयोगगरिने कुनै पनि सामग्री बोक्नु पर्नेछैन।”

²⁶and the Levites also have no more to carry the tabernacle, nor any of its vessels for its service.

²⁷इस्राएलका मानिसहरूका निम्ति दाऊदका अन्तिम निर्देशन लेवी कुल समूहका सन्तानहरूको गन्ती गर्नु पर्ने थियो। तिनीहरूले ती लेवी मानिसहरूको गन्ती लिए जो बीस अनि त्यस भन्दा बढ्ता उमेरका थिए।

²⁷For by the last words of David was this [done], -- the numbering of the sons of Levi from twenty years old and upward.

²⁸लेवीहरूको काम हारूनका सन्तानहरूलाई परमप्रभुको मन्दिरको सेवाकार्यमा सहायता गर्नुथियो। लेवीहरूले मन्दिरको आँगान अनि मन्दिरका छेउका कोठाहरूको पनि हेरचाह गर्थे। तिनीहरूको काम सबै पवित्र चीज बीजहरूलाई शुद्ध गर्नु अनि परमेश्वरको मन्दिरमा सेवागर्ने काम थियो।

²⁸For their place was by the side of the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Jehovah, over the courts, and over the chambers, and over the purifying of all holy things, and [for] the work of the service of the house of God;

²⁹मन्दिरको टेबिलमा विशेष रोटी राख्ने तिनीहरू जिम्मा थियो। तिनीहरू पीठो, अन्नबलि र अखमिरी रोटी पोलेका अनि मिश्रित भेटीहरूको पनि जिम्मामा थिए। तिनीहरूले सबै कुराको नाप-तौल गर्थे।

²⁹and for the loaves to be set in rows, and for the fine flour for the oblation, and for the unleavened cakes, and for [what is baked in] the pan, and for that which is saturated [with oil], and for all measure of capacity and size;

³⁰लेवीहरू हरेक बिहान उभिन्थे अनि परमप्रभु प्रति धन्यवाद चढाउँथे र स्तुति गर्थे। तिनीहरूले यो पनि हरेक साँझ गर्थे।

³⁰and to stand every morning to thank and praise Jehovah, and likewise at even;

³¹शाबाथ अनि अरू चाडका दिनहरूमा अनि औंसी उत्सवमा तिनीहरूले होमबलिहरू तयार गर्थे। परमप्रभुको अघि तिनीहरू होमबलिहरू तयार गर्थे। परमप्रभुको अघि तिनीहरू हरेक दिन सेवा गर्थे। त्यहाँ नियमहरू थिए कति जना लेवीहरूले सेवा गर्नु पर्थ्यो।

³¹and for all burnt-offerings offered up to Jehovah on the sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the ordinance concerning them, continually, before Jehovah;

³²तिनीहरूले पवित्र पाल साथै पवित्र स्थानको हेरचाह गर्थे। तिनीहरूले आफ्ना पूजाहारी, हारूनका सन्तानहरूलाई सहायता गर्थे। लेवीहरूले परमप्रभुको मन्दिरका कामहरूद्वारा पूजाहारीहरूलाई सहायता गर्थे।

³²and they kept the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of Jehovah.
