1मोशा र इस्राएलका बूढा-प्रधानहरूले मानिसहरूसँग बात गरे। मोशाले भने, “आज मैले तिमीहरूलाई दिएका सबै आदेशहरू पालन गर।
1And Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandment which I command you this day.
2तिमीहरू चाँडै परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले दिन लाग्नु भएको भूमि पुग्न यर्दन नदी पार गर्नेछौ। त्यसदिन ठूला-ठूला ढुङ्गाहरू खडा गरेर त्यसलाई लिपी देऊ।
2And it shall be on the day when ye pass over the Jordan unto the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaster them with plaster:
3त्यसपछि यी सबै आज्ञाहरू र शिक्षाहरू लेख। यो काम तिमीहरूले जब यर्दन नदी पार गरेपछि गर्नु पर्छ। तब तिमीहरू परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले दिन लाग्नु भएको दूध र महले परिपूर्ण भएको भूमिमा प्रवेश गर्न सक्छौ। परमप्रभु तिमीहरूको पिता-पुर्खाहरूका परमेश्वरले त्यो भूमि तिमीहरूलाई दिन्छु भनी प्रतिज्ञा गर्नु भएको थियो।
3and thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou goest over that thou mayest enter into the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, as Jehovah the God of thy fathers hath promised thee.
4यर्दन नदी पार गरेपछि आज म तिमीहरूलाई जुन आज्ञा दिन्छु तिमीहरूले अवश्य पालन गर्नु पर्छ। एबाल डाँडामा तिनीहरूले ढुङ्गाहरू खडा गर्नु पर्छ र ती ढुङ्गाहरूलाई लिपेर छोप्नु पर्छ।
4And it shall be when ye go over the Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, as I command you this day, on mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaster them with plaster.
5केही ढुङ्गाहरू राखेर परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरको निम्ति वेदी निर्माण गर। तर ती ढुङ्गाहरू काट्न फलामको हतियार प्रयोग नगर।
5And there shalt thou build an altar to Jehovah thy God, an altar of stones; thou shalt not lift up an iron [tool] upon them;
6परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरको निम्ति वेदी बनाउनका लागि तिमीहरूले काटेका ढुङ्गाहरू प्रयोग गर्नु हुँदैन। अनि तिमीहरू यसमाथि परमप्रभु तिमीहरूको परमेश्वरको निम्ति होमबलि चढाउनु पर्छ।
6of whole stones shalt thou build the altar of Jehovah thy God; and thou shalt offer up burnt-offerings thereon to Jehovah thy God.
7तिमीहरूले त्यहाँ मेलबलि चढाऊनु पर्छ अनि परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरअघि खाऊ अनि आनन्द मनाऊ।
7And thou shalt sacrifice peace-offerings, and shalt eat there, and rejoice before Jehovah thy God.
8तिमीहरूले खडा गरेको ढुङ्गाहरूमा तिमीहरूले व्यवस्थाका यी सबै कुराहरू लेख्नु पर्छ। स्पष्ट लेख जसले गर्दा ती सजिलै पढ्न सकियोस्।
8And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.
9“मोशा र लेवीका पूजाहारीहरूले इस्राएलीहरूलाई सम्बोधन गरे। मोशाले भने, “हे इस्राएलीहरू हो, चुप लागेर सुन, आज तिमीहरू परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरका मानिसहरू भएका छौ।
9And Moses and the priests, the Levites, spoke to all Israel, saying, Be silent and hearken, Israel! this day thou art become the people of Jehovah thy God.
10यसकारण परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले जे गर्नु भन्नु भएको छ प्रत्येक काम गर। तिमीहरूले उहाँको आज्ञाहरू र नियमहरू अनुशरण अनि पालन गर्नु पर्छ जुन आज मैले तिमीहरूलाई आदेश दिएको छु।”
10And thou shalt hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.
11त्यही दिन मोशाले पनि मानिसहरूलाई यो भने,
11And Moses gave commandment to the people the same day, saying,
12“तिमीहरू यर्दन नदी पार गरे पछि मानिसहरूलाई आशीर्वाद दिनको निम्ति शिमोन, लेवी, यहूदा, इस्साकार, युसूफ र बिन्यामीन कुल समूह गीरीज्जीम डाँडामा हुनेछन्।
12These shall stand to bless the people upon mount Gerizim, when ye have gone over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin.
13अनि यी कुल समूह-रूबेन, गाद, आशेर जबुलुन, दान र नप्ताली चाँहि सराप सुन्नु एबाल डाँडामा हुनेछन्।
13And these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
14“लेवीहरूले उच्च स्वरमा सबै इस्राएलीहरूलाई भन्ने छन्;
14And the Levites shall declare and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice:
15‘कारीगरले झैं जसले खोपेर अथवा काटेर धातु अथवा केही अन्य चीजको मूर्ति बनाएर पूजा गर्न गुप्त स्थानमा राख्छ, त्यस मानिसलाई सराप लाग्छ। ती झूटा देवताहरू मूर्तिहरू मात्र हुन किनकि ती कुनै कारीगरले काठ, ढुङ्गा अथवा धातुबाट बनाएको हुन्। परमप्रभुले त्यस्ता कुराहरूलाई घृणा गर्नुहुन्छ।’ “तब सबै मानिसहरूले उत्तर दिनेछन् ‘आमेन!’
15Cursed be the man that maketh a graven or molten image, an abomination to Jehovah, a work of the craftsman's hand, and putteth it up secretly! And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
16“लेवीहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘त्यस मानिसलाई सराप लागोस् जसले आमा-बुबालाई अनादर अनि अपमान गर्छ। तब सबै मानिसहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘आमेन।’
16Cursed be he that slighteth his father or his mother! And all the people shall say, Amen.
17“लेवीहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘आफ्नो छिमेकीको साँध सीमान मिच्ने मानिसलाई सराप लागोस्।’ “तब सबै मानिसहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘आमेन।’
17Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour's landmark! And all the people shall say, Amen.
18“लेवीहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘अन्धा मानिसलाई उल्टा बाटो देखाउने मानिसलाई सराप परोस्।’ “तब सबै मानिसहरूले भन्नेछन् ‘आमेन।’
18Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way! And all the people shall say, Amen.
19“लेवीहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘विदेशी, टुहुरा-टुहुरी र विधवाले पाउनु पर्ने न्याय नदिने मानिसलाई सराप परोस्।’ “तब सबै मानिसहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘आमेन।’
19Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow! And all the people shall say, Amen.
20“लवीहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘आफ्नी सौतेनी आमासित सहवास गर्ने मानिसलाई सराप परोस्।’ “तब सबै मानिसहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘आमेन।’
20Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife; for he uncovereth his father's skirt! And all the people shall say, Amen.
21“लेवीहरूले भन्नेछन् ‘कुनै प्रकारको पशुसित सम्भोग गर्ने मानिसलाई सराप लागोस्।’ “तब सबै मानिसहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘आमोन।’
21Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast! And all the people shall say, Amen.
22“लेवीहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘उसलाई सराप लागोस् जसले आफ्नी बहिनी अथवा सौतेनी बहिनीसित लैंगिक सर्म्पक राख्छ।’ “तब सबै मानिसहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘आमेन।’
22Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother! And all the people shall say, Amen.
23“लेवीहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘उसलाई सराप लागोस् जसले सासूसित लैंगिक सर्म्पक राख्छ।’ “तब सबै मानिसहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘आमेन।’
23Cursed be he that lieth with his mother-in-law! And all the people shall say, Amen.
24“लेवीहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘उसलाई सराप लाग्छ जसले आफ्नो छिमेकीलाई लुकेर हिर्काउँछ।’ “तब सबै मानिसहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘आमेन।’
24Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbour secretly! And all the people shall say, Amen.
25“लेवीहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘जो मानिसले पैसा लिएर निर्दोष मानिसको हत्या गर्छ भने त्यसलाई सराप परोस्।’ “तब सबै मानिसले भन्नेछन्, ‘आमेन।’
25Cursed be he that taketh reward to smite mortally [shedding] innocent blood! And all the people shall say, Amen.
26लेवीहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘जो मानिसले यस व्यवस्थालाई समर्थन गर्दैन र पालन गर्नु राजी हुदैनँ त्यसलाई सराप परोस्।’ “तब सबै मानिसहरूले भन्नेछन्, ‘आमेन।’
26Cursed be he that confirmeth not the words of this law to do them! And all the people shall say, Amen.
