¹हे बिन्यामिनी हो! आफ्नो सुरक्षाको लागि भाग। यरूशलेमको शहरदेखि भाग। तको शहरमा युद्धको तुरही फुक बेथक्के-रेमको शहरमा चेताउनीको झण्डा उठाऊ। ती कुराहरू गर किनभने उत्तरदिशाबाट महासर्वनाश आईरहेछ। डरलाग्दो सर्वनाश तिमीहरू कहाँ आईरहेछ।

¹Flee for safety, ye children of Benjamin, out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a signal in Beth-haccerem; for evil appeareth out of the north, and a great destruction.

²सियोनकी छोरी! तिमी हरियो मैदान जस्तै सुन्दरी छौ।

²The comely and delicate one do I cut off, the daughter of Zion.

³गोठालाहरू यरूशलेमा भेडाका बथानहरू लिएर आउँदछन्, तिनीहरूले आफ्नो पालहरू यसको वरिपरि बनाउँछन् प्रत्येक गोठालोले आफ्ना भेडा बथानको हेरचाह गर्छन्।

³Shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch [their] tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.

⁴“यरूशलेमको विरूद्ध युद्ध गर्न तैयार हौ। उठ! मध्य-दिनमा हामी शहर आक्रमण गर्नेछौं। तर अति ढिलो भइसकेको छ। साँझको छाँयाहरू फैलिरहेका छन्।

⁴Prepare war against her. Arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day hath declined, for the shadows of the evening are lengthening.

⁵यसकारण उठ! हामी राती शहर आक्रमण गर्नेछौ। आऊ, यरूशलेमको पक्का महलहरू ध्वंस पारौं।”

⁵Arise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her palaces.

⁶यही रीतले सेनाहरूका परमप्रभु भन्नुहुन्छ “रूखहरू काट र त्यही रूखहरूले यरूशलेमको वरिपरि छेकने घेराहरू बनाऊ। अत्याचार बाहेक त्यस शहरमा केही छैन। यसलाई सजाय भोगाउनै पर्छ।

⁶For thus hath Jehovah of hosts said: Hew ye down trees, and cast a mound against Jerusalem. She is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.

⁷एउटा कुवाले आफ्नो पानी ताजा राख्छ। त्यस्तै प्रकारले, यरूशलेमले आफ्नो दुष्टता ताजा राख्छ। सधैं शहरमा दंगा र ध्वंशको विषयमा सुन्छु। म सधैं यरूशलेममा विराम चोटहरू देख्छु।

⁷As a well poureth forth her waters, so she poureth forth her wickedness: violence and destruction are heard in her; before me continually are grief and wounds.

⁸चेताउनी तर्फ ध्यान देऊ, यरूशलेम। यदि तिमीहरूले सुनेनौ भने म तिमीहरूपट्टि पिठ्युँ फर्काउनेछु। म तिम्रो भूमि रित्तो मरूभूमि जस्तै पारिदिने छु। कोही पनि त्यहाँ बस्न योग्य हुनेछैन्।”

⁸Be thou instructed, Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated from thee; lest I make thee a desolation, a land not inhabited.

⁹यही प्रकारले सेनाहरूका परमप्रभु भन्नुहुन्छ, “खेतमा दाख बटुले झैं इस्राएलमा बाकी रहेका मानिसहरू भेला गर। दाखहरू टिप्नेले झैं दाखको बोटहरू फेरि नियाल।”

⁹Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: They shall thoroughly glean like a vine the remnant of Israel: turn back thy hand, as a grape-gatherer unto the baskets.

¹⁰म कोसित बोल्नु? मैले कसलाई चेताउनी दिनु? कसले मेरो कुरा सुन्छ? इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले आफ्ना कानहरू थुनेका छन्। यसकारण तिनीहरूले मेरो चेताउनी सुन्दैनन्। परमप्रभुको वचन तिनीहरूका निम्ति शरमपूर्ण हुन्छ। तिनीहरू उहाँका कुरा सुन्नु चाहँदैनन्।

¹⁰To whom shall I speak and testify, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of Jehovah is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

¹¹यसकारण म परमप्रभुको क्रोधले भरिएको छु। म त्यसलाई लिएर थाकिसकेको छु। “परमप्रभुको क्रोध गल्लीहरूमा खेलिरहेका नानीहरूमाथि पोखाऊ। जवानहरूमाथि परमेश्वरको क्रोध खनाऊ। लोग्ने-स्वास्नी एकै साथ सबै पक्राऊ पर्नेछन्। सबै बूढा-पाकाहरू पक्राउ पर्नेछन्।”

¹¹And I am full of the fury of Jehovah, I am weary with holding in. Pour it out upon the children in the street, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken; the aged with him [that is] full of days.

¹²तिनीहरूका घरहरू अन्य मानिसहरूलाई दिइनेछ। तिनीहरूका खेतहरू र पत्नीहरू अन्य मानिसहरूलाई दिइनेछ। म यस भूमिका मानिसहरूमाथि मेरो हात उठाउनेछु।” यो सन्देश परमेश्वरबाट आएको हो।

¹²And their houses shall be turned unto others, [their] fields and wives together; for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith Jehovah.

¹³“इस्राएलका सबै मानिसहरू लोभी छन्। माथिल्लो तहदेखि तल्लो तहसम्मका इस्राएली मानिसहरू घुसको लागि मरिमेटछन्। अनि अगमवक्ता देखिलिएर पूजाहारीहरूसम्म झूटो बोल्छन्।

¹³For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them, every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest, every one dealeth falsely.

¹⁴अगमवक्ताहरू र पूजाहारीहरूले तिनीहरूका घाउहरूमा मलमपट्टी गर्नु पर्छ। तर तिनीहरूले ती घाऊहरूलाई कोट्‌याको जस्तो मात्र ठाने। तिनीहरू भन्छन्, ‘प्रत्येक कुरो ठीक छ’ अनि प्रत्येक जग्गामा शान्ति छ, जब कि त्यहाँ शान्ति छैन।’

¹⁴And they have healed the breach of the daughter of my people lightly, saying, Peace, peace! when there is no peace.

¹⁵पूजाहारीहरू र अगमवक्ताहरू आफूले गरेका नराम्रा कुराहरूले लज्जित हुनु पर्ने। तर तिनीहरू एकदमै लज्जित छैनन्। तिनीहरू कसरी लज्जित हुनु पर्ने जान्दैनन्। यसकारण तिनीहरू अरूसितै दण्डित हुनु पर्छ। जब म मानिसहरूलाई सजाय दिन्छु तिनीहरू भूँईमा फ्याँकिनु पर्छ।” परमप्रभुले यी कुराहरू भन्नुभयो।

¹⁵Are they ashamed that they have committed abomination? Nay, they are not at all ashamed, neither know they what it is to blush. Therefore they shall fall among them that fall; at the time that I visit them they shall stumble, saith Jehovah.

¹⁶परमेश्वरले ती कुराहरू भन्नुभयो, “दोबाटोमा उभ अनि हेर। सोध पूरानो बाटो कहाँ छ। सोध कहाँ असल बाटो छ, अनि त्यो बाटोमा हिंड्। यदि तिमीले त्यसो गर्यौ, तिमी स्वयंले विश्राम पाउनेछौ। तर तिमीहरूले भन्यौ, ‘हामी असल बाटोमा हिडने छैनौ।’

¹⁶Thus saith Jehovah: Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the ancient paths, which is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk [therein].

¹⁷तिमीहरूमाथि निगाह राख्न मैले एकजना चौकीदार रोजेको छु। मैले तिनीहरूलाई बताएँ, ‘युद्धको तुरहीको आवाज सुन।’ तर तिनीहरूले भने, ‘हामी सुन्ने छैनौ।”‘

¹⁷Also I have set watchmen over you: -- Hearken ye to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

¹⁸यसर्थ, सारा जाति-जातिहरू, सुन! तिनीहरूको साक्षी-प्रमाण विषयमा ध्यान देऊ।

¹⁸Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O assembly, what is among them.

¹⁹हे पृथ्वीका मानिसहरू हो! यसमा ध्यान देऊ! यहूदाका मानिसहरूको लागि म ध्वंस ल्याइरहेको छु किनभने तिनीहरूले नराम्रो कर्मका निम्ति योजना बनाएका छन् अनि तिनीहरूले मेरो सन्देशहरूलाई ध्यान दिएनन् अनि मेरा शिक्षाहरू अस्वीकार गरे।”

¹⁹Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, the fruit of their thoughts; for they have not hearkened unto my words, and as to my law, they have rejected it.

²⁰परमप्रभु भन्नुहुन्छ, “किन मेरो लागि शबाको देशबाट सुगन्धित धूपहरू ल्यायौ? किन तिमीहरूले सुगन्धित मेरो निम्ति सुदुर देशबाट बेंत ल्यायौ? तिमीहरूले गरेका बलिहरूले मलाई खुशी बनाउँदैन। तिम्रो बलिदानहरूले मलाई सन्तुष्ट पार्दैन्।”

²⁰To what purpose should there come to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? Your burnt-offerings are not acceptable, nor are your sacrifices pleasing unto me.

²¹यसकारण, त परमप्रभु यसो भन्नुहुन्छ” म यहूदाका मानिसहरूलाई समस्याहरू दिनेछु। तिनीहरू ढुङ्गाहरू जस्तो हुनेछन् जसले मानिसहरूलाई पतन गराउनेछ। बाबु छोराहरू तिनीहरूमाथि ठोकिने छन् मित्रहरू र छिमेकीहरू मर्नेछन्।”

²¹Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will lay stumbling-blocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall over them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

²²परमप्रभु यसो भन्नुहुन्छ “हेर, सेना उत्तरबाट आईरहेछ। घेरै टाढा-टाढा ठाउँहरूबाट एउटा महान जाति पृथ्वीमा आइरहेछ।

²²Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation is stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

²³सेनाहरूले तिनीहरूसित धनु काँड र भालाहरू ल्याउँछन्। तिनीहरू निष्ठूर छन्। तिनीहरूमा दया छैन। तिनीहरूका घोडाहरूको आवाज जस्तै छ। हे सियोनकी छोरी! यी सेनाहरू युद्धका निम्ति तत्पर छन् र तिमीमाथि आक्रमण गर्नु आइरहेकाछन्।”

²³They lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as a man for the battle, against thee, daughter of Zion.

²⁴हामीले ती सेनाहरूको बारेमा सुनेका छौं। हाम्रा हातहरू भयले दुर्बल भएका छन्। प्रसुती वेदनामा परेकी स्त्रीलाई जस्तै हामीलाई दुख र पीडाले घेरेको छ।

²⁴We have heard the report thereof: our hands are grown feeble; anguish hath taken hold of us, pain as of a woman that travaileth.

²⁵खेतमा नजाऊ। सडकतिर नआऊ किनभने शत्रुहरूसित तरवारहरू छन् अनि जहीं-तहीं विपद छ।

²⁵Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for [there is] the sword of the enemy, terror is on every side.

²⁶मेरा मानिसहरू हो! दुख प्रकट गर्ने पोषाक लगाऊ, अनि खरानीमाथि लडी-बडी गर। यस्तो प्रकारले विलाप गर कि मानौं तिम्रो भएको एउटै मात्र बालक मरेको छ, किनभने विनाश अतिशीघ्र हामीमाथि आउनेछ।

²⁶Daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and roll thyself in ashes: make mourning, [as] for an only son -- bitter lamentation; for the spoiler cometh suddenly upon us.

²⁷“यर्मिया, मैले तिमीलाई मेरा मानिसहरू माझ कसी लाउने मानिस बनाँए। तिनीहरूलाई परीक्षा गर्नेछौ र तिनीहरूको जीवन विषयमा चाल पाउनेछौ।

²⁷I have set thee among my people as an assayer, a fortress, that thou mayest know and try their way.

²⁸तिनीहरू सबै विद्रोही हुन र चारैतिर असन्तुष्टी मच्चाइरहेका छन्। तिनीहरू सबै काँसा र फलाम जस्तै छन् तिनीहरू विनाशकहरू हुन्।

²⁸They are all the most rebellious of rebels, going about with slander: they are bronze and iron; they are all corrupters.

²⁹खँलातिले आगो तेज पार्छ र अशुद्धी हटाउँछ तर मेरा मानिसहरूलाई केही गर्नु सकिदैन कारण तिनीहरूबाट खराबी हटाउनु सकिदैन।

²⁹The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed by the fire; they have melted, and melted in vain; and the bad are not plucked away.

³⁰तिनीहरूलाई ‘खोटो चाँदी’ भनिनेछ। तिनीहरूलाई त्यो नाउँ दिइने छ किनभने परमेश्वरले तिनीहरूलाई अस्वीकार गर्नु भयो।”

³⁰Reprobate silver shall they call them, for Jehovah hath rejected them.
