1एप्रैमका कुल समूहका मानिसहरूले तिनीहरूका समस्त सैनिकहरूलाई साथ बोलाए। त्यसपछि तिनीहरू नदी पारिको सापोन शहरमा गए। तिनीहरूले यिप्तहलाई भने, “तिमीले अम्मोनी मानिसहरूको विरूद्ध युद्ध गर्दा हामीहरूलाई सहायताका निम्ति किन बोलाउनु भएन तपाईंलाई तपाईंको घर संगै जलाउने छौं।”
1And the men of Ephraim were called together, and passed over northwards, and said to Jephthah, Why didst thou pass over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? We will burn thy house upon thee with fire.
2यिप्तहले तिनीहरूलाई उत्तर दिए, “अम्मोनी मानिसहरूले हामीलाई अनेक समस्याहरू उत्पन्न गराइरहे। यसर्थ म अनि मेरो मानिसहरू तिनीहरूको विरूद्ध लडेका हौं। मैले तिमीहरूलाई बोलाएँ, तर तिमीहरू हामीलाई सहायता गर्न आएनौ।
2And Jephthah said to them, I was at great strife, I and my people, with the children of Ammon; and I called you, but ye saved me not out of their hand.
3तिमीहरूले हामीलाई सहायता गर्ने छैनौं भनी मैले देखे। यसर्थ मैले आफ्नै जीवनलाई जोखिममा पारे। अम्मोनी मानिसहरू विरूद्ध लड्न म नदीपारि गएँ। परमप्रभुले मलाई तिनीहरूमाथि पराजित गर्नमा सहयोग प्रदान गर्नु भयो। अब, आज तिमीहरू किन मसित लड्न आउछौं?”
3And when I saw that ye would not save me, I put my life in my hand, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and Jehovah gave them into my hand. Why then are ye come up to me this day, to fight against me?
4त्यसपछि यिप्तहले गिलादका मानिसहरूलाई एक साथ बोलाए। तिनीहरूले एप्रैमका कुल समूहका मानिसहरूको विरूद्ध युद्ध गरे। तिनीहरू एप्रैमका मानिसहरूको विरूद्ध लडे किनभने ती मानिसहरूले गिलादका मानिसहरूको अपमान गरेका थिए। तिनीहरूले भनेका थिए, “तिमी गिलादका मानिसहरू केही होइनौ एप्रैममा छोडीएका मानिसहरू मात्र हौ। तिमीहरूको आफ्नो निवास भूमिधरि छैन। तिमीहरूको अंश एप्रैमको हो। अनि तिमीहरूको अंश मनश्शेको हो।” गिलादका मानिसहरूले एप्रैमका मानिसहरूलाई पराजित गरिदिए।
4And Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye, Gilead, ye are fugitives of Ephraim in the midst of Ephraim, [and] in the midst of Manasseh.
5गिलादका मानिसहरूले ती स्थानहरू अधिकारमा लिए जहाँबाट मानिसहरू यर्दन नदीपार गर्छन्। ती ठाउँहरूबाट एप्रैम देशतिर जान्छ। एप्रैममा बाँचेका जो कोही पनि नदीमा आउँछन् उसले भन्छन्, “मलाई पारि तर्न देऊ।” तब गिलादका मानिसहरू उसलाई सोध्छन्, “के तिमी एप्रैमका मानिस हौ?” यदि उसले “होइन,” भन्यो भने
5And Gilead took the fords of the Jordan before Ephraim; and it came to pass that when the fugitives of Ephraim said, Let me go over, the men of Gilead said to him, Art thou an Ephraimite? and he said, No.
6तिनीहरूले भन्छन्, “‘शिब्बोलेत’ शब्द भन।” एप्रैमका मानिसहरू त्यो शब्द ठीकसित भन्न सक्तैन थिए। तिनीहरूले त्यो शब्द ठीकसितले भन्न सक्तैन थियो। तिनीहरूले त्यो शब्दको उच्चारण “सिब्बोलेत” भनी गर्थे। यसर्थ, यदि त्यस व्यक्तिले “सिब्बोलेत” भनी उच्चारण गरे भने गिलादका मानिसहरू बुझ्थे कि उ एप्रैमका मानिस हुन्। यसर्थ उसलाई तिनीहरूले पार गर्ने स्थानमा मारिदिन्थे। तिनीहरूले एप्रैमका 42,000 मानिसहरूलाई मारे।
6Then they said to him, Say now Shibboleth! and he said, Sibboleth, and did not manage to pronounce [it] rightly. Then they took him, and slaughtered him at the fords of the Jordan. And there fell at that time of Ephraim forty-two thousand.
7यिप्तह छः वर्षसम्म इस्राएली मानिसहरूका न्यायकर्त्ता थिए। त्यसपछि गिलादमा यिप्तहको देहान्त भयो। तिनीहरूले तिनलाई तिनकै गिलादको शहरमा गाडिदिए।
7And Jephthah judged Israel six years. And Jephthah the Gileadite died, and was buried in [one of] the cities of Gilead.
8यिप्तह पछि इब्सान नाउँका मानिस इस्राएलका मानिसहरूका न्यायकर्त्ता थिए। इब्सान बेतलेहेम शहरका थिए।
8And after him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.
9इब्सानका तीस जना छोराहरू अनि तीस जना छोरीहरू थिए। तिनले आफ्ना तीसजना छोरीहरूलाई ती मानिसहरूसित विवाह गर्न जो तिनका आफन्तहरू होइनन्। अनि तिनले आफ्ना आफन्त नपर्ने तीस जना स्त्रीहरू खोजे अनि तिनका छोराहरूले ती स्त्रीहरूलाई विवाह गरे। इब्सान सात वर्षसम्म इस्राएलका मानिसहरूका न्यायकर्त्ता थिए।
9And he had thirty sons; and thirty daughters he sent out of the house, and thirty daughters he took in from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.
10तब इब्सानको मृत्यु भयो। तिनलाई बेतलेहेम शहरमा गाडियो।
10And Ibzan died, and was buried at Bethlehem.
11इब्सान पछि एलोन नाउँका मानिस इस्राएली मानिसहरूका न्यायकर्त्ता भए। एलोन जबूलूनका कुल समूहका थिए। तिनी दश वर्षसम्म इस्राएलका मानिसहरूका न्यायकर्त्ता रहे।
11And after him Elon, the Zebulonite, judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.
12तब जबूलूनका कुल समूहका एलोनको मृत्यु भयो। तिनलाई जबूलूनको अय्यालोन शहरमा गाडियो।
12And Elon the Zebulonite died, and was buried in Ajalon in the land of Zebulun.
13एलोनको मृत्युपछि हिल्लेलका छोरा अब्दोन इस्राएलका मानिसहरूका न्यायकर्त्ता थिए। अब्दोन पिरातोन शहरका थिए।
13And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, the Pirathonite, judged Israel.
14अब्दोनका चालीस जना छोराहरू अनि तीस जना नातीहरू थिए। तिनीहरू सत्तरी वटा गधामा चढथे। अब्दोन आठ वर्षसम्म इस्राएली मानिसहरूका न्यायकर्त्ता रहे।
14And he had forty sons and thirty grandsons, who rode on seventy ass colts. And he judged Israel eight years.
15तब हिल्लेलका छोरा अब्दोनको मृत्यु भयो। तिनलाई पिरातोन शहरमा दफन गरिदिए। पिरातोन एप्रैम देशमा छ। यो पहाडी देशमा छ जहाँ अमालेकी मानिसहरू बस्छन्।
15And Abdon the son of Hillel, the Pirathonite, died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the hill-country of the Amalekites.
