¹परमप्रभुले मोशा र हारूनलाई भन्नुभयो,

¹And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them,

²“इस्राएलका मानिसहरूलाई भनः ‘पृथ्वीका प्राणीहरूमध्ये तिमीहरू यी प्राणीहरू खान सक्छौः

²Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the animals which ye shall eat of all the beasts which are on the earth.

³तिमीहरू कुनै पनि प्राणी खान सक्छौ जसको खुर चिरिएको हुन्छ अनि जो उग्राउँछ।

³Whatever hath cloven hoofs, and feet quite split open, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts -- that shall ye eat.

⁴Only these shall ye not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those with cloven hoofs: the camel, for it cheweth the cud, but hath not cloven hoofs -- it shall be unclean unto you;

⁵and the rock-badger, for it cheweth the cud, but hath not cloven hoofs -- it shall be unclean unto you;

⁶and the hare, for it cheweth the cud, but hath not cloven hoofs -- it shall be unclean unto you;

⁷अनि सुँगुर-यसको खुर चिरिएको त छ तर यसले उग्राउँदैन, यसर्थ यो तिमीहरूको निम्ति फोहोर तथा अशुद्ध छ।

⁷and the swine, for it hath cloven hoofs, and feet quite split open, but it cheweth not the cud -- it shall be unclean unto you.

⁸तिमीहरूले यी पशुहरूको मासु नखानु अनि या पशुहरूको सिनु नछुनु। यी पशुहरू तिमीहरूको निम्ति अशुद्ध अनि फोहोर हुन्।

⁸Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch: they shall be unclean unto you.

⁹“पानीमा हुने सबै प्राणीहरू तिमीहरूले खान सक्छौ, जलचर प्राणीहरूमा जसको पखेटा र कत्ला हुन्छ, चाहे त्यो नदी अथवा समुद्रको, तिमीहरू खान सक्छौ।

⁹These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatever hath fins and scales in waters, in seas and in rivers, these shall ye eat;

¹⁰but all that have not fins and scales in seas and in rivers, of all that swarm in the waters, and of every living soul which is in the waters -- they shall be an abomination unto you.

¹¹They shall be even an abomination unto you: of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase ye shall have in abomination.

¹²जलचर प्राणीहरू मध्ये जसको पखेटा अनि कत्ला हुँदैन त्यसको मासु खानु तिमीहरूको निम्ति निषेध मान्नुपर्छ।

¹²Whatever in the waters hath no fins and scales, that shall be an abomination unto you.

¹³“चराहरूमा यी तिमीहरूको निम्ति घृणित हुन् अनि तिमीहरूले यिनीहरूको मासु खानु हुँदैन गरूड, गिद्ध, कालो गिद्ध,

¹³And these shall ye have in abomination of the fowls; they shall not be eaten; an abomination shall they be: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle,

¹⁴रातो चील र सबै प्रकारका कालो चील,

¹⁴and the falcon, and the kite, after its kind;

¹⁵सबै थरीका कागहरू,

¹⁵every raven after its kind;

¹⁶ठूलो लाटकोसेरो, कराउने लाटकोसेरो, समुद्री चराहरू र सबै जातका बाजहरू,

¹⁶and the female ostrich and the male ostrich, and the sea-gull, and the hawk, after its kind;

¹⁷सानो लाटोकोसेरो, पानी काग, भुल्का,

¹⁷and the owl, and the gannet, and the ibis,

¹⁸सेतो लाटोकोसेरो, मरूभूमिमा हुने लाटोकोसेरो, माछा खाने चील,

¹⁸and the swan, and the pelican, and the carrion vulture,

¹⁹सारस, सबै प्रकारको बकुल्ला, फाप्रेचरो र चमेरो।

¹⁹and the stork; the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

²⁰“तिमीहरूले प्रत्येक पंखेटा भएका किराहरूलाई जो घस्रेर हिंड्छन्, खानमा बारेको सम्झनु पर्छ।

²⁰Every winged crawling thing that goeth upon all four shall be an abomination unto you.

²¹तर तिमीहरूले उफ्रिने जोर्नी भएका खुट्टा हुने पंखेटा भएका किराहरू खान सक्छौ।

²¹Yet these shall ye eat of every winged crawling thing that goeth upon all four: those which have legs above their feet with which to leap upon the earth.

²²यी किराहरू मध्ये तिमीहरूले खान सक्छौः प्रत्येक प्रकारको सलह, पखेटा सलह; प्रत्येक जातको किथ्रा र फटेङ्ग्रा खानु सक्छौ।

²²These shall ye eat of them: the arbeh after its kind, and the solam after its kind, and the hargol after its kind, and the hargab after its kind.

²³“चार खुट्टे तर पंखेटा भएका प्रत्येक जातका किराहरू तिमीहरूको निम्ति घृणित हुन्छ, यो तिमीहरूले खानु निषेध मान्नुपर्छ।

²³But every winged crawling thing that hath four feet shall be an abomination unto you.

²⁴निम्न लिखित प्राणीहरूले तिमीहरूलाई फोहोर अनि अपवित्र पार्छ। कुनै पनि मानिस जसले तिनीहरूको सिनु छुन्छ त्यो साँझसम्म अपवित्र रहन्छ।

²⁴And by these ye shall make yourselves unclean; whoever toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even.

²⁵अनि कुनै पनि मानिस जसले सिनु बोक्छ, उसले आफ्नो लुगा धुनुपर्छ अनि साँझसम्म त्यो अपवित्र रहनेछ।

²⁵And whoever carrieth [ought] of their carcase shall wash his garments, and be unclean until the even.

²⁶Every beast that hath cloven hoofs, but not feet quite split open, nor cheweth the cud, shall be unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean.

²⁷And whatever goeth on its paws, among all manner of beasts that go upon all four, those are unclean unto you: whoever toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even.

²⁸जसले यस्तो पशुको लाश बोक्छ, साँझसम्म अशुद्ध रहन्छ अनि यसले आफ्नो लुगा धुनुपर्छ। त्यस्ता पशुहरू तिमीहरूको निम्ति अशुद्ध हुन्।

²⁸And he that carrieth their carcase shall wash his garments, and be unclean until the even: they shall be unclean unto you.

²⁹“भूँईमा घस्रने प्राणीहरू मध्ये यिनीहरू तिमीहरूको निम्ति अपवित्र हुन्-जस्तै न्याउरीमुसो, मुसो, सबै जातको छेपारोहरू,

²⁹And these shall be unclean unto you among the crawling things which crawl on the earth: the mole, and the field-mouse, and the lizard, after its kind;

³⁰माउसुली, गोहोरो, भालेमुँग्रो, बालुवामा हुने छेपारो अनि रंग बद्लने छेपारो।

³⁰and the groaning lizard, and the great red lizard, and the climbing lizard, and the chomet, and the chameleon.

³¹घस्रनेहरूमा यिनीहरू तिमीहरूको निम्ति अशुद्ध हुन्। कसैले यी प्राणीहरूमध्ये कुनैको पनि लाश छोए त्यो मानिस साँझसम्म अशुद्ध रहनेछ।

³¹These shall be unclean unto you among all that crawl: whoever toucheth them when they are dead, shall be unclean until the even.

³²“अनि यदि अशुद्ध पशुहरू मध्ये कुनै मर्छ अनि केहि कुरामा पर्छ तब त्यो वस्तु अशुद्ध हुनेछ यो काठ, लुगा, छाला, पाठाको छालाको लुगा (भाङग्रा) अथवा कुनै काम आउने भाँडे किन नहोस्। यदि यस्तो भए, यसलाई पानीमा डुबाउनु पर्छ अनि यो साँझसम्म अशुद्ध रहनेछ।

³²And on whatever any of them when they are dead doth fall, it shall be unclean; all vessels of wood, or garment, or skin, or sack, every vessel wherewith work is done -- it shall be put into water, and be unclean until the even; then shall it be clean.

³³माटोको भाँडामा मरेका यी प्राणीहरूमध्ये कुनै परे त्यो भाडमा रहेको चीज पनि अशुद्ध हुन्छ र त्यो भाँडा फुटाउनु पर्छ।

³³And every earthen vessel into which [any] of them falleth -- whatever is in it shall be unclean; and ye shall break it.

³⁴यदि त्यो भाँडामा पानी थियो अनि त्यसले अर्को कुनै खाद्य छुन्छ। त्यो अशुद्ध हुनेछ। अनि यदि कुनै पिउने वस्तु त्यस भाँडामा थियो भने त्यो पनि अशुद्ध हुनेछ।

³⁴All food that is eaten on which [such] water hath come shall be unclean; and all drink that is drunk shall be unclean, in every [such] vessel.

³⁵यदि त्यो मरेको वस्तुको कुनै पनि अंग मात्र केही चीजमा परे त्यो चीज अशुद्ध हुनेछ। यदि त्यो बस्तु चुला अथवा अँगेटी हो भने त्यो भत्काउनु पर्छ।

³⁵And everything where upon [any part] of their carcase falleth shall be unclean; oven and hearth shall be broken down: they are unclean, and shall be unclean unto you.

³⁶“तर यदि कोही पानीको मुहान अथवा कूवाँमा भए त्यो अशुद्ध हुँदैन तर जसले मरेको लाश छुन्छ त्यो चाँहि अशुद्ध हुन्छ।

³⁶Nevertheless, a spring or a well, a quantity of water, shall be clean. But he that toucheth their carcase shall be unclean.

³⁷अनि यदि त्यो मृत देह कुनै बीउमाथि झरे त्यो बीउ शुद्ध नै रहन्छ।

³⁷And if any part of their carcase fall upon any sowing-seed which is to be sown, it shall be clean;

³⁸तर यदि ती बीउहरूमाथि पानी हालेको छ र त्यस्तो सिनु पर्यो भने ती बीउहरू तिमीहरूको निम्ति अशुद्ध हुनेछन्।

³⁸but if water have been put on the seed, and any part of their carcase fall thereon, it shall be unclean unto you.

³⁹“यदि तिमीहरूका पशुहरूमध्ये कुनै मर्छ जसलाई खानको निम्ति तिमीहरूलाई अनुमति दिइएको छ, तब व्यक्ति जसले यसको मृत शरीरलाई छुन्छ साँझसम्म अशुद्ध रहनेछ।

³⁹And if any beast which is to you for food die, he that toucheth the carcase thereof shall be unclean until the even.

⁴⁰यदि कसैले त्यस मरेको पशुको कुनै भागको मासु खान्छ तब त्यस मानिसले आफ्नो लुगा धुनु पर्छ र साँझसम्म ऊ अशुद्ध रहनेछ। यदि कसैले त्यस्तो पशुहरूको लाश छुन्छ ऊ साँझसम्म अशुद्ध रहनेछ अनि उसले आफ्ना लुगाहरू धुनु पर्छ।

⁴⁰And he that eateth of its carcase shall wash his garments, and be unclean until the even: he also that carrieth its carcase shall wash his garments, and be unclean until the even.

⁴¹“अनि प्रत्येक प्राणी जो भुइँमा घस्रन्छ त्यसलाई तिमीले घृणा गर्नैपर्छ अनि तिमीले त्यो खानु हुँदैन।

⁴¹And every crawling thing which crawleth on the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten.

⁴²कुनै पनि प्राणी जो भुइँमा आफ्नो पेटले सुल्कन्छ अथवा चार अथवा धेरै खुट्टाले घस्रन्छ त्यस्तो प्राणी तिमीहरूले खानु हुँदैन। तिनीहरूलाई घृणा गर्नुपर्छ।

⁴²Whatever goeth on the belly, and whatever goeth on all four, and all that have a great many feet, of every manner of crawling thing which crawleth on the earth -- these ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination.

⁴³यस्ता घस्रने प्राणीबाट तिमीहरू कुनै पनि परिस्थितिमा अशुद्ध नहुनु। यिनीहरूलाई छोएर अशुद्ध नबन।

⁴³Ye shall not make yourselves abominable through any crawling thing which crawleth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby.

⁴⁴किनभने म परमप्रभु तिमीहरूको परमेश्वर हुँ। तिमीहरूले आफूलाई पवित्र राख्नु पर्छ। तिमीहरू पवित्र होऊ किनभने म पवित्र छु। तिमीहरू भूइँमा प्राणीहरूद्वारा अशुद्ध हुनु हुँदैन

⁴⁴For I am Jehovah your God; and ye shall hallow yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy; and ye shall not make yourselves unclean through any manner of crawling thing which creepeth on the earth.

⁴⁵म परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वर हुँ जसले तिमीहरूलाई मिश्र देशबाट तिमीहरूका परमेश्वर हुनका निम्ति बाहिर ल्याएँ, तिमीहरू पवित्र बन किनभने म पवित्र छु।”

⁴⁵For I am Jehovah who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

⁴⁶पशु, पंक्षी, जलचर अनि भूइँमा घस्रने सबै प्राणीहरूका निम्ति विधिहरू यी नै हुन्।

⁴⁶This is the law of cattle, and of fowl, and of every living soul that moveth in the waters, and of every soul that crawleth on the earth;

⁴⁷पवित्र र अपवित्र र पशुहरूमा मासु खानु हुने र नहुने छुट्याउने नियम यी नै हुन्।”

⁴⁷to make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that is to be eaten and the beast that is not to be eaten.
