1यदि एकजना मानिस जसलाई प्रायः हप्काइन्छ तर ऊ अट्टेरी गर्छ भने उसको एक्कासी विनाश हुनेछ उसको लागि आशा हुँदैन।
1He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and without remedy.
2जब धर्मी मानिसहरू सत्तामा आउँछन् राज्य खुशी बन्छन् तर जब दुष्ट मानिस शासक बन्छ तब सबै मानिसहरू दुःखीत हुन्छन्।
2When the righteous increase, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
3यदि कुनै मानिसले ज्ञानलाई प्रेम गर्छ भने, उसको बाबु खुशी हुन्छन, तर वेश्याहरूको साथीले आफ्नो सम्पत्ति बरबाद गर्छ।
3Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; but he that is a companion of harlots destroyeth [his] substance.
4एकजना राजाले आफ्नो राज्यलाई न्याय द्वारा बलियो राख्छ, तर घूस लिने मानिसले यसलाई सर्वनाश पार्छ।
4A king by just judgment establisheth the land; but he that taketh gifts overthroweth it.
5जसले आफ्नो मित्र सित तेल घस्छ भने उसले आफ्नै खुट्टामा जाल फिंजाउँछ।
5A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his steps.
6पापीजनहरू स्वयं आफ्नो जालमा फस्छन् तर धर्मी जनहरू गीत गाउँछन् अनि खुशी रहन्छन्।
6In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; but the righteous shall sing and rejoice.
7धर्मी मानिसहरूले बुझ्छन् कि गरीबले न्याय पाउँनुपर्छ। तर दुष्ट मानिसले गरीबको विषयमा चिन्ता नै गर्दैन।
7The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; the wicked understandeth not knowledge.
8जसले आफैंलाई अरू भन्दा असल हुँ भन्ने सोच्छ त्यसले सारा शहर नै अस्त-व्यस्त पारिदिन्छ। तर बुद्धिमान मानिसहरूले जलि रहेको क्रोधालाई शान्त बनाउँछन्।
8Scornful men set the city in a flame; but the wise turn away anger.
9बुद्धिमान मानिस जब मूर्खसित झगडा गर्छ तब मूर्खले तर्क गर्छ र मूर्खतापूर्वक बोल्छ त्यो बहसको कहिल्यै समाधान हुने छैन।
9If a wise man contendeth with a fool, whether he rage or laugh, [he] hath no rest.
10हत्यागर्ने मानिसले ईमानदारी मानिसलाई घृणा गर्छ, र उसलाई मार्न चाहान्छ।
10The bloodthirsty hate the perfect, but the upright care for his soul.
11मूर्ख मानिसले आफ्नो रिस थाम्दैन। तर बुद्धिमानी मानिसले आफ्नो रिसलाई नियन्त्रणमा राख्छ।
11A fool uttereth all his mind; but a wise [man] keepeth it back.
12यदि एकजना शासकले झूटो कुरामा ध्यान दियो भने उसका सबै सेवकहरू भ्रष्ट हुन्छन्।
12If a ruler hearken to lying words, all his servants are wicked.
13गरीब मानिस र अत्याचारीले महसूस गर्नै पर्छ कि ती दुबै बराबर हुन कारण दुबैलाई परमप्रभुले नै सृष्टि गर्नुभएको हो।
13The indigent and the oppressor meet together; Jehovah lighteneth the eyes of them both.
14यदि कुनै राजाले गरीबहरूलाई न्यायपूर्वक हेरचाह गर्छन् भने, उनको शासन दीर्घकाल सुरक्षित रहनेछ।
14A king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
15दण्ड अनि शिक्षाहरूले ज्ञानतिर डोर्याउँछ, तर एकजना छाडा छोडिएको छोरा आमाको लाज बन्छ।
15The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left [to himself] bringeth his mother to shame.
16खराब मानिसले राष्ट्रलाई शासन गर्छन भने पाप र अपराध बढदो हुनेछ तर आखिरमा धर्मीले दुष्टहरूको पतन देख्नेछन् र त्यस पछि तिनीहरूले विजय प्राप्त गर्नेछन्।
16When the wicked increase, transgression increaseth; but the righteous shall see their fall.
17तिम्रो छोरालाई शिक्षा देऊ अनि उसले तिमीमा शान्ति ल्याउँछ; उसले तिम्रो आत्मामा खुशी ल्याउनेछ।
17Chasten thy son, and he shall give thee rest, and shall give delight unto thy soul.
18जब दर्शन-प्रकाश हुँदैन मानिसहरू मनमानि गर्छन जो न्यायोचित भइरहन्छ उसले आशिष पाउँछ।
18Where there is no vision the people cast off restraint; but happy is he that keepeth the law.
19कुराले मात्र नोकरलाई सुधार्न सकिँदैन, कुरा बुझिहाले पनि उसले त्यसलाई स्वीकार्दैन।
19A servant is not corrected by words: he understandeth indeed, but he will not answer.
20नसोची बोल्ने कुनै मानिसलाई तिमी चिन्दछौ? त्यस्तो मानिस भन्दा मूर्खको धेरै आशा गर्न सकिन्छ।
20Hast thou seen a man hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
21यदि तिमीले आफ्नो दासले जो माग्छ सो सधैं दिने गर्यो भने एकदिन यस्तो हुन्छ त्यो तिम्रो दास भएर रहँदैन।
21He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child, shall in the end have him as a son.
22क्रोधी मानिसले धेरै विवाद उठाउछ अनि क्रोध धेरै हुने मानिस धेरै पापहरूको अपराधी हुन्छ।
22An angry man exciteth contention; and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
23मानिसलाई अहंकारले होच्याउँछ, तर नम्र आत्मा भएको मानिसले सम्मान पाउँछ।
23A man's pride bringeth him low; but the humble in spirit shall obtain honour.
24चोरको साथी ऊ आफ्नै शत्रु हो, जब उसले शपथ खानु पर्छ तब ऊ साक्षी बस्न धेरै डराउँछ।
24Whoso shareth with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth the adjuration, and declareth not.
25अरू मानिसहरूसँगको डर एउटा पासो झैं हो, यदि तिमीले परमप्रभुमाथि भरोसा गर्छौ भने, तिमी सुरक्षित रहनेछौ।
25The fear of man bringeth a snare; but whoso putteth his confidence in Jehovah is protected.
26धेरै मानिसहरूले न्याय पाउनको लागि शासकलाई हेर्न खोज्छन्, तर मानिसको इन्साफ परमप्रभुबाट मात्र आउँछ।
26Many seek the ruler's face; but a man's right judgment is from Jehovah.
27धर्मी मानिसहरूले बेईमानहरूलाई घृणा गर्छन्, फेरि बेईमान मानिसहरूले ईमानदार मानिसलाई घृणा गर्छन्।
27An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous; and he that is of upright way is an abomination to the wicked [man].
