1हे मेरो छोरो! मेरा सल्लाहहरू सम्झि राख्। मेरा आज्ञाहरू बहुमूल्य सम्पत्ति झैं संचय गरिराख्।
1My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2तिमीले मेरा आज्ञाहरू पालन गर्यौ भने तिमी बाँच्नेछौ। मेरो सल्लाहलाई आँखाको नानी झैं जोगाई राख।
2Keep my commandments, and live; and my teaching, as the apple of thine eye.
3तिनीहरू तिमीले आफ्नो औंलीहरूमा बाँधेर राख अनि हृदयमा लेखेर राख।
3Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the tablet of thy heart.
4ज्ञानलाई भनः “तिमी मेरी बहिनी हौ; समझशक्तिलाई भन, “तिमी मेरो आफन्त हौ!”
4Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister, and call intelligence [thy] kinswoman:
5तब तिमीलाई तिनीहरूले अर्को मानिसको चिप्लो कुरा गर्ने पत्नीसँग शारीरिक सम्बन्ध हुनबाट बचाउँछ।
5that they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger who flattereth with her words.
6एकदिन मैले मेरो घरको झ्यालबाट हेरें, मैले धेरै ठिटाहरूलाई देखें
6For at the window of my house, I looked forth through my lattice,
7अनि तिनीहरू मध्ये एकजनालाई ध्यान दिएँ त्यो एकदमै मूर्ख रहेछ।
7and I beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the sons, a young man void of understanding,
8त्यो केटो त्यस्तै एउटी स्त्रीको घरको छेउबाट गइरहेको थियो। उ उसको घरको दिशातिर अगि बढिरहेको थियो।
8passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,
9अस्ताँउने घामले गोधुली बेलालाई डक्दै थियो। रात आफ्ना अन्धकारसँग आउँदै थियो।
9in the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the blackness of night and the darkness.
10त्यसै समयमा कुनै एउटी स्त्री उसलाई भेट्न आई। उसले एउटा वेश्याले झैं लुगा लगएकी थिइ र ऊ एकदमै धूर्त थिई।
10And behold, there met him a woman in the attire of a harlot, and subtle of heart.
11ऊ उच्च स्वरकी अनि विद्रोही थिइ। ऊ उसको घरमा वस्नु चाहँन्दैन थिइ।
11She is clamorous and unmanageable; her feet abide not in her house:
12त्यो स्त्री कहिले गल्लीमा, कहिले चोकहरूमा तन्देरी केटाहरूलाई फँसाउँन कुना काप्चाहरू तिर लुकेर बस्थी।
12now without, now in the broadways, -- and she lieth in wait at every corner.
13उसले त्यस केटोलाई समाती र चुम्बन खाई अनि निर्लज्जा रूपमा उसको आँखामा हेर्दै भनी,
13And she caught him and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,
14“आज मैले मेलबलि चढाउनु पर्छ। कारण मैले आज आफ्नो भाकल पूरा गरें। त्यसको केही भाग घर लगें र आज मसित खानेकुराहरू प्रशस्त छन्।
14I have peace-offerings with me; this day have I paid my vows:
15यसैकारण म तपाईलाई खोज्न बाहिर निस्केर आइरहेकी थिंएँ अनि अहिले तपाईलाई भेटें।
15therefore came I forth to meet thee, to seek earnestly thy face, and I have found thee.
16मैले मेरो ओछ्यानमा मिश्रदेशको रंगीन च्यादरले सजाएकीछु।
16I have decked my bed with tapestry coverlets of variegated linen from Egypt;
17मैले मेरो ओछ्यानमाथि, मूर्र, एलवा, दालचिनी अनि सुगन्धित अत्तर छर्केकीछु।
17I have perfumed my couch with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18मसित आऊ, रात भरी हामी प्रेमको आलिङ्गनमा बाँधिएर आनन्दमा विभोर भई भोग गरौं।
18Come, let us revel in love until the morning, let us delight ourselves with loves.
19मेरो पति घरमा छैनन्, तिनी धेरै लामो यात्रामा गएका छन्।
19For the husband is not at home, he is gone a long journey;
20तिनी आफ्नो थैली भरी पैसा बोकेर गएका छन् अनि यो तोकीएको दिन सम्म फर्केर आउँदैनन्।”
20he hath taken the money-bag with him, he will come home on the day of the full moon.
21त्यस स्त्रीले उसलाई फसाउँन यी शब्दहरूको व्यवहार गरी अनि त्यो मूर्ख केटो फँस्यो।
21With her much enticement she beguiled him; with the smoothness of her lips she constrained him.
22उसले त्यस आइमाईलाई पछ्याउँछ र एक्कासि ऊ कसाइखाना तिर लगिंदै गरेको साँढे झैं हुन्छ। ऊ धनुषकाँडले कलेजो छेडेको मृग झैं भएको छ। ऊ जस्तै जालमा फँस्न उडिरहेकोछ।
22He went after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, and as stocks [serve] for the correction of the fool;
23तर उसलाई थाहा छैन कि यसको लागि उसले आफ्नो जीवन दिने छ।
23till an arrow strike through his liver: as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for its life.
24अब हे मेरा छोराहरू हो, मेरो कुरा सुन, मेरो बचनहरूमा ध्यान देऊ।
24And now, ye sons, hearken unto me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25तिम्रो हृदयलाई उसको मार्ग तिर डोर्याउँन नदेऊ त्यो बाटो तिर नफर्क।
25Let not thy heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths:
26त्यसले धैरे शिकारलाई लडाएकी छे, त्यसले अनगन्ती मानिसहरूलाई मारेकी छे।
26for she hath cast down many wounded, and all slain by her were strong.
27त्यस स्त्रीको घरले चिहानतिर डोर्याइरहेको हुन्छ र त्यसलाई पछ्याउनेहरू मृत्यको मुखमा पर्छन्।
27Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the chambers of death.
