¹योनाले माछाको पेटभित्रबाट परमप्रभु आफ्ना परमेश्वरलाई प्रार्थना गरे।

¹Then Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God, out of the fish’s belly.

²उनले भने, “मेरो कष्टको कारणले मैले परमप्रभुलाई प्रार्थना गरें अनि उहाँले मलाई उत्तर दिनुभयो। मृत्युको संसारदेखि म कराएँ, र तपाईंले मेरो बिन्ति सुन्नुभयो।

²He said, “I called because of my affliction to Yahweh. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. I cried. You heard my voice.

³“तपाईंले मलाई गहिरो भित्र, समुद्रको मुटुमै फालिदिनुभएको थियो, र मेरो चारैतिर छालहरु थिए। तपाईंका भयंकर छालहरुले मलाई डुबायो।

³For you threw me into the depths, in the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.

⁴तब मैले भनें, “म त तपाईंको दृष्टिबाट निकालिएको छु, तैपनि म फेरि तपाईंको पबित्र मन्दिरतिर हेर्नेछु।

⁴I said, ‘I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’

⁵“पानीले मलाई मेरो प्राण सम्मै घेर्यो, गहिरो सगर मेरो चारैतिर थियो, मेरो टाउको भरि समुद्रका झ्याउहरु बेहेरिएका थिए।

⁵The waters surrounded me, even to the soul. The deep was around me. The weeds were wrapped around my head.

⁶म त समुद्रको फेद सम्मै पुगें। पृथ्वीले मलाई सदाका निम्ति थुनिदियो। तैपनि हे परमप्रभु! मेरा परमेश्वर, तपाईंले खाडलबाट उठाएर मलाई जीवन दिनुभयो।

⁶I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever: yet have you brought up my life from the pit, Yahweh my God.

⁷“मेरो प्राणले सबै आशा गुमायो। तब मैले परमप्रभुको सम्झना गरें। परमप्रभु मैले तपाईंलाई प्रार्थना गरें अनि तपाईंले मेरो प्रार्थना तपाईंको पवित्र मन्दिरबाट सुन्नु भयो।

⁷“When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Yahweh. My prayer came in to you, into your holy temple.

⁸“ज-जसले ब्यार्थका मुर्तिहरुतिर मन लगाउँछन् तिनीहरुले गर्नु पर्ने साँचो भक्तिलाई त्याग्द छन्।

⁹तर म धन्यवादको स्तुति सहित तपाईंमा बलिदान चढाउने छु, मैले जेकुराको भाकल गरेको छु सो पुरा गर्नेछु। “उद्धार परमप्रभुबाटै हुन्छ।”

⁹But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh.”

¹⁰तब परमप्रभुले माछालाई आज्ञा गर्नुभयो, र त्यले योनालाई किनारामा उगेलिदियो।

¹⁰Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land.
