¹Og da pinsefestens dag var kommet, var de alle samlet på samme sted.

¹And when the day of Pentecost was now accomplishing, they were all together in one place.

²Og med ett kom det en lyd fra himmelen som av et fremfarende veldig vær og fylte hele huset der de satt.

²And there came suddenly a sound out of heaven as of a violent impetuous blowing, and filled all the house where they were sitting.

³Og det viste sig for dem tunger likesom av ild, som skilte sig og satte sig på enhver av dem.

³And there appeared to them parted tongues, as of fire, and it sat upon each one of them.

⁴Da blev de alle fylt med den Hellige Ånd, og de begynte å tale med andre tunger, alt efter som Ånden gav dem å tale.

⁴And they were all filled with [the] Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave to them to speak forth.

⁵Nu bodde det i Jerusalem jøder, gudfryktige menn fra alle folkeslag under himmelen.

⁵Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, pious men, from every nation of those under heaven.

⁶Da nu denne lyd kom, strømmet hopen sammen og blev forvirret, fordi de hørte dem tale enhver på sitt eget mål;

⁶But the rumour of this having spread, the multitude came together and were confounded, because each one heard them speaking in his own dialect.

⁷og de blev forferdet og undret sig, og sa: Men er ikke alle disse som taler, galileere?

⁷And all were amazed and wondered, saying, Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galilaeans?

⁸Hvorledes går det da til at vi alle hører vårt eget mål, som vi er født i,

⁸and how do *we* hear [them] each in our own dialect in which we have been born,

⁹vi partere og medere og elamitter, og vi som bor i Mesopotamia og Judea og Kappadokia, Pontus og Asia,

⁹Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those who inhabit Mesopotamia, and Judaea, and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,

¹⁰Frygia og Pamfylia, Egypten og landskapene i Libya ved Kyrene, og vi tilreisende fra Rom,

¹⁰both Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya which adjoin Cyrene, and the Romans sojourning [here], both Jews and proselytes,

¹¹både jøder og tilhengere av jødenes tro, kretere og arabere: vi hører dem tale om Guds store gjerninger på våre tungemål?

¹¹Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our own tongues the great things of God?

¹²Men de blev alle forferdet og var rådville, og de sa til hverandre: Hvad kan dette være?

¹²And they were all amazed and in perplexity, saying one to another, What would this mean?

¹³Men andre sa spottende: De er fulle av søt vin!

¹³But others mocking said, They are full of new wine.

¹⁴Da stod Peter frem med de elleve, og løftet sin røst og talte til dem: I jødiske menn og alle I som bor i Jerusalem! Dette være eder vitterlig, og lån øre til mine ord!

¹⁴But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and spoke forth to them, Men of Judaea, and all ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give heed to my words:

¹⁵For disse er ikke drukne, således som I mener; det er jo bare den tredje time på dagen;

¹⁵for these are not full of wine, as *ye* suppose, for it is the third hour of the day;

¹⁶men dette er det som er sagt ved profeten Joel:

¹⁶but this is that which was spoken through the prophet Joel,

¹⁷Og det skal skje i de siste dager, sier Gud, da vil jeg utgyde av min Ånd over alt kjød, og eders sønner og eders døtre skal tale profetiske ord, og eders unge menn skal se syner, og eders oldinger ha drømmer;

¹⁷And it shall be in the last days, saith God, [that] I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your elders shall dream with dreams;

¹⁸ja, endog over mine træler og over mine trælkvinner vil jeg i hine dager utgyde av min Ånd, og de skal tale profetiske ord.

¹⁸yea, even upon my bondmen and upon my bondwomen in those days will I pour out of my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.

¹⁹Og jeg vil la under skje på himmelen i det høie, og tegn på jorden i det lave: blod og ild og røkskyer;

¹⁹And I will give wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

²⁰solen skal bli til mørke og månen til blod, før Herrens dag kommer, den store og herlige.

²⁰the sun shall be changed to darkness and the moon to blood, before the great and gloriously appearing day of [the] Lord come.

²¹Og det skal skje: Hver den som påkaller Herrens navn, han skal bli frelst.

²¹And it shall be that whosoever shall call upon the name of [the] Lord shall be saved.

²²Israelittiske menn! hør disse ord: Jesus fra Nasaret, en mann som var blitt utpekt for eder av Gud ved kraftige gjerninger og under og tegn, som Gud gjorde ved ham midt iblandt eder, således som I selv vet,

²²Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus the Nazaraean, a man borne witness to by God to you by works of power and wonders and signs, which God wrought by him in your midst, as yourselves know

²³han som blev forrådt efter Guds besluttede råd og forutviden, ham slo I ihjel, idet I naglet ham til korset ved urettferdiges hender;

²³-- him, given up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye, by [the] hand of lawless [men], have crucified and slain.

²⁴men Gud opreiste ham, idet han løste dødens veer, eftersom det ikke var mulig at han kunde holdes av den.

²⁴Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death, inasmuch as it was not possible that he should be held by its power;

²⁵For David sier om ham: Jeg hadde alltid Herren for mine øine, for han er ved min høire hånd, forat jeg ikke skal rokkes;

²⁵for David says as to him, I foresaw the Lord continually before me, because he is at my right hand that I may not be moved.

²⁶derfor gledet mitt hjerte sig og min tunge jublet, ja endog mitt kjød skal legge sig til hvile med håp;

²⁶Therefore has my heart rejoiced and my tongue exulted; yea more, my flesh also shall dwell in hope,

²⁷for du skal ikke forlate min sjel i dødsriket, ei heller skal du overgi din hellige til å se tilintetgjørelse;

²⁷for thou wilt not leave my soul in hades, nor wilt thou give thy gracious one to see corruption.

²⁸du kunngjorde mig livets veier, du skal fylle mig med glede for ditt åsyn.

²⁸Thou hast made known to me [the] paths of life, thou wilt fill me with joy with thy countenance.

²⁹Brødre! la mig få lov til å tale med frimodighet til eder om patriarken David, at han både døde og blev begravet, og hans grav er iblandt oss den dag idag;

²⁹Brethren, let it be allowed to speak with freedom to you concerning the patriarch David, that he has both died and been buried, and his monument is amongst us unto this day.

³⁰da han nu var en profet og visste at Gud med en ed hadde tilsvoret ham at av hans lends frukt vilde han sette en på hans trone,

³⁰Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn to him with an oath, of the fruit of his loins to set upon his throne;

³¹så var det om Messias' opstandelse han fremsynt talte det ord at han ikke blev forlatt i dødsriket, ei heller så hans kjød tilintetgjørelse.

³¹he, seeing [it] before, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that neither has he been left in hades nor his flesh seen corruption.

³²Denne Jesus opreiste Gud, som vi alle er vidner om.

³²This Jesus has God raised up, whereof all *we* are witnesses.

³³Efterat han nu er ophøiet ved Guds høire hånd og av sin Fader har fått den Hellige Ånd, som var lovt, så utgjød han dette som I både ser og hører.

³³Having therefore been exalted by the right hand of God, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which *ye* behold and hear.

³⁴For David fór ikke op til himmelen, men han sier selv: Herren sa til min herre: Sett dig ved min høire hånd,

³⁴For David has not ascended into the heavens, but he says himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit at my right hand

³⁵til jeg får lagt dine fiender til skammel for dine føtter!

³⁵until I have put thine enemies [to be] the footstool of thy feet.

³⁶Så skal da hele Israels hus vite for visst at Gud har gjort ham både til Herre og til Messias, denne Jesus som I korsfestet.

³⁶Let the whole house of Israel therefore know assuredly that God has made him, this Jesus whom *ye* have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

³⁷Men da de hørte dette, stakk det dem i hjertet, og de sa til Peter og de andre apostler: Hvad skal vi gjøre, brødre?

³⁷And having heard [it] they were pricked in heart, and said to Peter and the other apostles, What shall we do, brethren?

³⁸Peter sa da til dem: Omvend eder, og enhver av eder la sig døpe på Jesu Kristi navn til syndenes forlatelse, så skal I få den Hellige Ånds gave!

³⁸And Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptised, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for remission of sins, and ye will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

³⁹For løftet hører eder til og eders barn og alle dem som er langt borte, så mange som Herren vår Gud kaller til.

³⁹For to you is the promise and to your children, and to all who [are] afar off, as many as [the] Lord our God may call.

⁴⁰Og med flere andre ord vidnet han og formante dem, idet han sa: La eder frelse fra denne vanartede slekt!

⁴⁰And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation.

⁴¹De som nu tok imot hans ord, blev døpt, og det blev på den dag lagt til omkring tre tusen sjeler.

⁴¹Those then who had accepted his word were baptised; and there were added in that day about three thousand souls.

⁴²Og de holdt trolig fast ved apostlenes lære og ved samfundet, ved brøds-brytelsen og ved bønnene.

⁴²And they persevered in the teaching and fellowship of the apostles, in breaking of bread and prayers.

⁴³Og det kom frykt over hver sjel, og mange under og tegn blev gjort ved apostlene.

⁴³And fear was upon every soul, and many wonders and signs took place through the apostles' means.

⁴⁴Og alle de troende holdt sig sammen og hadde alt felles,

⁴⁴And all that believed were together, and had all things common,

⁴⁵og sine eiendeler og sitt gods solgte de og delte det ut til alle, efter som nogen hadde trang til,

⁴⁵and sold their possessions and substance, and distributed them to all, according as any one might have need.

⁴⁶og idet de samdrektig hver dag stadig søkte templet og brøt brødet hjemme, nøt de sin mat med fryd og hjertets enfold,

⁴⁶And every day, being constantly in the temple with one accord, and breaking bread in [the] house, they received their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,

⁴⁷idet de lovet Gud og hadde yndest hos hele folket. Og Herren la hver dag dem som lot sig frelse, til menigheten.

⁴⁷praising God, and having favour with all the people; and the Lord added [to the assembly] daily those that were to be saved.
