¹Og Herrens ord kom til mig, og det lød så:

¹And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

²Menneskesønn! Spå og si: Så sier Herren, Israels Gud: Jamre eder: Ve oss, for en dag!

²Son of man, prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Howl ye, Alas for the day!

³For nær er dagen, ja, nær er Herrens dag; en dag med skyer, en dommens tid for folkene skal den være.

³For the day is at hand, yea, the day of Jehovah is at hand, a day of clouds; it shall be the time of the nations.

⁴Det skal komme et sverd mot Egypten, og Etiopia skal vri sig i angst, når drepte menn faller i Egypten; dets rikdom skal føres bort, og dets grunnvoller skal brytes ned.

⁴And the sword shall come upon Egypt, and there shall be anguish in Ethiopia, when the slain shall fall in Egypt, and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be overthrown.

⁵Etiopere og folk fra Put og Lud og alle de fremmede krigsfolk og kubeere og forbundslandets sønner skal sammen med dem* falle for sverdet. / {* egypterne.}

⁵Cush, and Phut, and Lud, and all the mingled people, and Chub, and the children of the land that is in league, shall fall with them by the sword.

⁶Så sier Herren: Egyptens støtter skal falle, og dets stolte makt skal synke sammen; fra Migdol til Syene skal de der falle for sverdet, sier Herren, Israels Gud.

⁶Thus saith Jehovah: They also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her strength shall come down: from Migdol to Syene shall they fall in her by the sword, saith the Lord Jehovah.

⁷Og det skal ligge øde blandt ødelagte land, og dets byer skal ligge blandt ødelagte byer.

⁷And they shall be desolated in the midst of the countries that are desolated, and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted.

⁸Og de skal kjenne at jeg er Herren, når jeg setter ild på Egypten, og alle dets hjelpere blir knust.

⁸And they shall know that I [am] Jehovah, when I have set a fire in Egypt, and all her helpers shall be broken.

⁹Den dag skal sendebud fra mig dra ut på skib for å forferde Etiopia i dets trygghet, og det skal vri sig i angst, som på Egyptens dag; for se, det kommer.

⁹In that day shall messengers go forth from me in ships, to make careless Ethiopia afraid; and anguish shall come upon them, as in the day of Egypt: for behold, it cometh!

¹⁰Så sier Herren, Israels Gud: Jeg vil gjøre ende på Egyptens larmende hop ved Nebukadnesar, Babels konge.

¹⁰Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon.

¹¹Han og hans folk med ham, de grusomste blandt folkene, skal føres dit for å ødelegge landet, og de skal dra sine sverd mot Egypten og fylle landet med drepte menn.

¹¹He and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought to destroy the land; and they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with slain.

¹²Og jeg vil la strømmene tørkes ut og selge landet i onde menneskers hånd, og jeg vil ødelegge landet og alt som i det er, ved fremmedes hånd; jeg, Herren, har talt.

¹²And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked; and I will make the land desolate, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I Jehovah have spoken [it].

¹³Så sier Herren, Israels Gud: Jeg vil tilintetgjøre de motbydelige avguder og utrydde de falske guder i Memfis, og det skal aldri mere opstå nogen fyrste i Egyptens land, og jeg vil la det falle frykt over Egyptens land.

¹³Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause the images to cease out of Noph; and there shall be no more a prince out of the land of Egypt; and I will put fear in the land of Egypt.

¹⁴Jeg vil ødelegge Patros og sette ild på Soan, og jeg vil holde dom over No.

¹⁴And I will make Pathros desolate, and will set a fire in Zoan, and will execute judgment in No.

¹⁵Jeg vil utøse min harme over Sin, Egyptens sterke vern, og jeg vil utrydde den larmende hop i No.

¹⁵And I will pour my fury upon Sin, the stronghold of Egypt; and I will cut off the multitude of No.

¹⁶Jeg vil sette ild på Egypten; Sin skal skjelve og beve, og No bli inntatt, og Memfis skal bli overfalt av fiender ved høilys dag.

¹⁶And I will set a fire in Egypt: Sin shall be in great anguish, and No shall be rent asunder, and at Noph [there shall be] enemies in open day.

¹⁷Avens og Pibesets unge menn skal falle for sverdet, og de selv* skal gå i fangenskap. / {* byene selv, det er resten av folket der.}

¹⁷The young men of Aven and of Pibeseth shall fall by the sword; and these shall go into captivity.

¹⁸I Tehafnehes skal dagen bli mørk, når jeg der sønderbryter Egyptens åk, og det er ute med dets stolte makt; selv skal det dekkes av en sky, og dets døtre skal gå i fangenskap.

¹⁸And at Tehaphnehes the day shall be darkened, when I break there the yokes of Egypt, and the pride of her strength shall cease in her; as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.

¹⁹Jeg vil holde dom over Egypten, og de skal kjenne at jeg er Herren.

¹⁹Thus will I execute judgments in Egypt; and they shall know that I [am] Jehovah.

²⁰I det ellevte år, i den første måned, på den syvende dag i måneden, kom Herrens ord til mig, og det lød så:

²⁰And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first [month], on the seventh of the month, the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

²¹Menneskesønn! Jeg har sønderbrutt egypterkongen Faraos arm, og se, den er ikke blitt forbundet; ingen har brukt lægemidler eller lagt forbinding på, så den kunde bli sterk nok til å gripe sverdet.

²¹Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and behold, it shall not be bound up to apply remedies, to put a bandage to bind it, to make it strong to hold the sword.

²²Derfor sier Herren, Israels Gud, så: Se, jeg kommer over Farao, Egyptens konge, og jeg vil sønderbryte hans armer, både den sterke og den sønderbrutte, og jeg vil la sverdet falle av hans hånd.

²²Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong one, and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.

²³Jeg vil sprede egypterne blandt folkene og strø dem ut i landene.

²³And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.

²⁴Jeg vil styrke Babels konges armer og legge mitt sverd i hans hånd, men Faraos armer vil jeg sønderbryte, og han skal ligge og stønne for hans åsyn, som en hårdt såret mann stønner.

²⁴And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand; and I will break Pharaoh's arms, so that he shall groan before him with the groanings of a deadly-wounded [man].

²⁵Jeg vil gjøre Babels konges armer sterke, men Faraos armer skal synke, og de skal kjenne at jeg er Herren, når jeg legger mitt sverd i Babels konges hånd, og han rekker det ut mot Egyptens land.

²⁵And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down; and they shall know that I [am] Jehovah, when I have put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall have stretched it out upon the land of Egypt.

²⁶Og jeg vil sprede egypterne blandt folkene og strø dem ut i landene, og de skal kjenne at jeg er Herren.

²⁶And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them through the countries: and they shall know that I [am] Jehovah.
