¹{A Song; a Psalm of Asaph.} O God, keep not silence; hold not thy peace, and be not still, O ùGod:

²Gud, ti ikke! Vær ikke stille og hold dig ikke rolig, Gud!

²For behold, thine enemies make a tumult; and they that hate thee lift up the head.

³For se, dine fiender larmer, og de som hater dig, løfter hodet.

³They take crafty counsel against thy people, and consult against thy hidden ones:

⁴Mot ditt folk legger de med svik hemmelige råd, og de rådslår mot dem du verner.

⁴They say, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, and let the name of Israel be mentioned no more.

⁵De sier: Kom og la oss utslette dem, så de ikke mere er et folk, og Israels navn skal ikke mere kommes i hu.

⁵For they have consulted together with one heart: they have made an alliance together against thee.

⁶For de har av hjertet rådslått med hverandre; mot dig inngår de pakt,

⁶The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagarites;

⁷Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia, with the inhabitants of Tyre;

⁸Asshur also is joined with them: they are an arm to the sons of Lot. Selah.

⁹Do unto them as to Midian; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the torrent of Kishon:

¹¹Make their nobles as Oreb and as Zeeb; and all their chiefs as Zebah and as Zalmunna.

¹²For they have said, Let us take to ourselves God's dwelling-places in possession.

¹³O my God, make them like a whirling thing, like stubble before the wind.

¹⁴Min Gud, gjør dem som en støvhvirvel, som agner for vinden!

¹⁴As fire burneth a forest, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire,

¹⁵Som en ild som tender en skog, og som en lue som setter fjell i brand,

¹⁵So pursue them with thy tempest, and terrify them with thy whirlwind.

¹⁶således forfølge du dem med din storm og forferde du dem med ditt stormvær!

¹⁶Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek thy name, O Jehovah.

¹⁷Fyll deres åsyn med skam, så de søker ditt navn, Herre!

¹⁷Let them be put to shame and be dismayed for ever, and let them be confounded and perish:

¹⁸La dem blues og forferdes til evig tid, la dem bli til skamme og gå under!

¹⁸That they may know that thou alone, whose name is Jehovah, art the Most High over all the earth.

¹⁹Og la dem kjenne at du alene har navnet Herre, den Høieste over all jorden!
