¹{A Prayer of David.} Incline thine ear, Jehovah, answer me; for I am afflicted and needy.

²Bevar min sjel! for jeg er from. Frels din tjener, du min Gud, ham som setter sin lit til dig!

²Keep my soul, for I am godly; O thou my God, save thy servant who confideth in thee.

³Vær mig nådig, Herre! for til dig roper jeg hele dagen.

³Be gracious unto me, O Lord; for unto thee do I call all the day.

⁴Gled din tjeners sjel! for til dig, Herre, løfter jeg min sjel.

⁴Rejoice the soul of thy servant; for unto thee, Lord, do I lift up my soul.

⁵For du, Herre, er god og villig til å forlate og rik på miskunnhet mot alle dem som påkaller dig.

⁵For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive, and art of great loving-kindness unto all that call upon thee.

⁶Vend øret, Herre, til min bønn, og merk på mine inderlige bønners røst!

⁶Give ear, O Jehovah, unto my prayer, and attend to the voice of my supplications.

⁷På min nøds dag kaller jeg på dig, for du svarer mig.

⁷In the day of my distress I will call upon thee, for thou wilt answer me.

⁸Ingen er som du blandt gudene, Herre, og intet er som dine gjerninger.

⁸Among the gods there is none like unto thee, Lord, and there is nothing like unto thy works.

⁹Alle hedningene, som du har skapt, skal komme og tilbede for ditt åsyn, Herre, og ære ditt navn.

⁹All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord, and shall glorify thy name.

¹⁰For du er stor og den som gjør undergjerninger; du alene er Gud.

¹⁰For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God, thou alone.

¹¹Lær mig, Herre, din vei! Jeg vil vandre i din sannhet. Gi mig et udelt hjerte til å frykte ditt navn!

¹¹Teach me thy way, Jehovah; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.

¹²Jeg vil prise dig, Herre min Gud, av hele mitt hjerte, og jeg vil ære ditt navn evindelig.

¹²I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with my whole heart; and I will glorify thy name for evermore.

¹³For din miskunnhet er stor over mig, og du har utfridd min sjel av det dype dødsrike.

¹³For great is thy loving-kindness toward me, and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol.

¹⁴Gud! Overmodige har reist sig imot mig, og en hop av voldsmenn står mig efter livet, og de har ikke dig for øie.

¹⁴O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assembly of the violent seek after my soul, and they have not set thee before them.

¹⁵Men du, Herre, er en barmhjertig og nådig Gud, langmodig og rik på nåde og sannhet.

¹⁵But thou, Lord, art a ùGod merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in goodness and truth.

¹⁶Vend dig til mig og vær mig nådig, gi din tjener din styrke og frels din tjenestekvinnes sønn!

¹⁶Turn toward me, and be gracious unto me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid.

¹⁷Gjør et tegn med mig til det gode, forat mine avindsmenn kan se det og bli til skamme, fordi du, Herre, har hjulpet mig og trøstet mig.

¹⁷Shew me a token for good, that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed; for thou, Jehovah, hast helped me and comforted me.
