¹Så kom engelen som talte med mig, igjen og vakte mig likesom når en mann vekkes av sin søvn.

¹And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep.

²Og han sa til mig: Hvad ser du? Jeg svarte: Jeg ser en lysestake som er helt igjennem av gull, med sitt oljekar på toppen og sine syv lamper, og med syv rør for hver lampe som er på den,

²And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I see, and behold, a lamp-stand all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and its seven lamps thereon, seven [lamps] and seven pipes to the lamps, which are upon the top thereof;

³og to oljetrær står ved siden av den, ett på oljekarets høire side og ett på dets venstre side.

³and two olive-trees beside it, one on the right of the bowl, and the other on the left of it.

⁴Og jeg tok til orde og sa til engelen som talte med mig: Hvad er dette, herre?

⁴And I answered and spoke to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?

⁵og engelen som talte med mig, svarte: Vet du ikke hvad dette er? Jeg sa: Nei, herre!

⁵And the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these are? And I said, No, my lord.

⁶Da tok han til orde og sa til mig: Dette er Herrens ord til Serubabel: Ikke ved makt og ikke ved kraft, men ved min Ånd, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud.

⁶And he answered and spoke unto me, saying, This is the word of Jehovah unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith Jehovah of hosts.

⁷Hvem er du, du store fjell som reiser dig foran Serubabel? Bli til en slette! Han skal føre toppstenen* frem under høie rop: Nåde, nåde være med den! / {* den øverste sten.}

⁷Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel [thou dost become] a plain; and he shall bring forth the head-stone with shoutings: Grace, grace unto it!

⁸Og Herrens ord kom til mig, og det lød så:

⁸And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

⁹Serubabels hender har grunnlagt dette hus, og hans hender skal fullføre det; og du skal kjenne at Herren, hærskarenes Gud, har sendt mig til eder.

⁹The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; and his hands shall finish it: and thou shalt know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me unto you.

¹⁰For hvem vil forakte den ringe begynnelses dag? Med glede ser de syv øine* blyloddet i Serubabels hånd, disse Herrens øine som farer omkring over hele jorden. / {* SKR 3, 9.}

¹⁰For who hath despised the day of small things? Yea, they shall rejoice [even] those seven -- and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel: these are the eyes of Jehovah, which run to and fro in the whole earth.

¹¹Da tok jeg til orde og sa til ham: Hvad er disse to oljetrær ved lysestakens høire og venstre side?

¹¹And I answered and said unto him, What are these two olive-trees on the right of the lamp-stand and on its left?

¹²Og jeg tok annen gang til orde og sa til ham: Hvad er de to oljegrener tett ved de to gullrenner som gullet* strømmer ut av? / {* d.e. den glinsende olje.}

¹²And I answered the second time and said unto him, What are the two olive-branches which are beside the two golden tubes that empty the gold out of themselves?

¹³Da sa han til mig: Vet du ikke hvad disse er? Jeg svarte: Nei, herre!

¹³And he spoke to me, saying, Knowest thou not what these are? And I said, No, my lord.

¹⁴Da sa han: Det er de to oljesalvede* som står hos all jordens herre. / {* d.e. de to Herrens salvede, folkets prestelige og fyrstelige overhoder, (Josva og Serubabel).}

¹⁴And he said, These are the two sons of oil, that stand before the Lord of the whole earth.
