1ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇੰਨਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਸੱਚਮੁਚ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ। ਪਰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।
1Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰੋ, ਅਸੀਂ ਹੁਣ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ। ਹਾਲੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਭਵਿਖ੍ਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਹੋਵਾਂਗੇ, ਪਰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਸੀਹ ਵਾਪਸ ਆਵੇਗਾ, ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਵਰਗੇ ਹੋਵਾਂਗੇ। ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਓਸੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਖਾਂਗੇ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।
2Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3ਮਸੀਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ। ਹਰ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਮਸੀਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਆਸ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਮਸੀਹ ਵਾਂਗ ਸ਼ੁਧ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
4ਜਦੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਨੇਮ ਤੋਡ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹਾਂ, ਪਾਪ ਕਰਨਾ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਜਿਉਣਾ।
4Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਮਸੀਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ। ਮਸੀਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
5And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਮਸੀਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ। ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਮਸੀਹ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਣਿਆ।
6Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7ਪਿਆਰੇ ਬਚਿਓ, ਕਿਸ੍ਸੇ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਮੌਕਾ ਨਾ ਦਿਓ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਗਲਤ ਪਾਸੇ ਪਾ ਸਕੇ। ਮਸੀਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਵਾਂਗ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਸਹੀ ਹੈ।
7Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ ਮੁਢ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ; ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ।
8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ। ਕਿਉਂ? ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਨਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਖ ਸਕਦਾ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਂ ਦੇਖ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਕਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਹਨ। ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਕਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਲੋਕ ਨੇਕ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ। ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਮਸੀਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਜਾਂ ਭੈਣ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
10In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
11ਇਹੀ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ; ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
11For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
12ਕਇਨ ਵਰਗੇ ਨਾ ਬਣੋ। ਕਇਨ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ (ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ) ਸੀ। ਕਇਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਏਬਲ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਕਇਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ? ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕੇਨ ਨੇ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਮੰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਏਬਲ ਨੇ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
12Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
13ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ ਅਤੇ ਭੈਣੋ, ਜੇਕਰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਨ ਤਾਂ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੋ।
13Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
14ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਾਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਭੈਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਲੋਕ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਉਹ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਕਬਜ਼ੇ ਹੇਠ ਹਨ।
14We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
15ਹਰੇਕ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇੱਕ ਕਾਤਲ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਕਾਤਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਖਦਾ।
15Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
16ਇਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਸੱਚਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਕੀ ਹੈ; ਮਸੀਹ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਭੈਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਮਸੀਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ।
16Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ ਕਰੋ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਨਿਹਚਾਵਾਨ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਮੀਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ। ਪਰ ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਨਿਹਚਾਵਾਨ ਉਦੋਂ ਹਮਦਰਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਗਰੀਬ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਲੋਡ਼ਵੰਦ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨਿਹਚਾਵਾਨ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੋਣਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਸੰਭਵ ਹੈ।
17But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18ਮੇਰੇ ਬਚਿਓ, ਸ੍ਸਾਡਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਸੀਮਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਚਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਦਰਸ਼ਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
18My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

19And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

20For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰੋ, ਜੇਕਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੁਝ ਗਲਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ, ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਵੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਕੋਲ ਆਵਾਂਗੇ, ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋਵਾਂਗੇ।
21Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
22ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਮੰਗਾਂਗੇ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
22And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਸੀਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ।
23And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨਮਿਤ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਸ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ? ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਆਤਮਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
24And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
