1ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰੋ, ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਇਹ ਵਾਅਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਚੀਜ਼ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਧ੍ਧ ਕਰ ਲੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਜਾਂ ਆਤਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਸ਼ੁਧ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਢੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਡਾ ਆਦਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
1Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
2ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿਓ। ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ (ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ) ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਧੋਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
2Open your hearts to us. We wronged no one. We corrupted no one. We took advantage of no one.
3ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕਸੂਰਵਾਰ ਠਹਿਰਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ। ਮੈਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇੰਨਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਜਿਉਂ ਦੇ ਇਛੁੱਕ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਥ੍ਥੋ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਵੀ।
3I say this not to condemn you, for I have said before, that you are in our hearts to die together and live together.
4ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਾਣ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੌਂਸਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹਾਂ।
4Great is my boldness of speech toward you. Great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort. I overflow with joy in all our affliction.
5ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਮਕਦੂਨਿਯਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਏ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਅਰਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਔਕਡ਼ਾਂ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਸਾਡੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਲਡ਼ਾਈਆਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਡਰ।
5For even when we had come into Macedonia, our flesh had no relief, but we were afflicted on every side. Fightings were outside. Fear was inside.
6ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੁਖੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਤੀਤੁਸ ਦੇ ਆਉਣ ਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
6Nevertheless, he who comforts the lowly, God, comforted us by the coming of Titus;
7ਉਸਦੀ ਆਮਦ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਲੇ ਜਿਹਾਡ਼ਾ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਤੀਤੁਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ। ਉਸਨੇ ਦਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਲਈ ਮਾਫ਼ੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਤੀਤੁਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਦਸਿਆ। ਇਹ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਈ।
7and not by his coming only, but also by the comfort with which he was comforted in you, while he told us of your longing, your mourning, and your zeal for me; so that I rejoiced still more.
8ਹਾਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਦਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਖੇਦ ਨਹੀਂ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਦਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦੁਖ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪਰ ਇਸ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਥੇਡ਼ੇ ਚਿਰ ਲਈ ਉਦਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ।
8For though I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it, though I did regret it. For I see that my letter made you sorry, though just for a while.
9ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸ ਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਬਣਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੁ ਇਸ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਦਿਲ ਬਦਲ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੀ ਦੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ।
9I now rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that you were made sorry to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly way, that you might suffer loss by us in nothing.
10ਉਦਾਸੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਦੀਲ ਕਰਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਵੱਲ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਦੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
10For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world works death.
11ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਗਮ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਹੁਣ ਦੇਖੋ ਇਸ ਗਮ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਗਮ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਯੋਗ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿਰਦੋਸ਼ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣ ਦੇ ਸਕੋਂ। ਇਸਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਡਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਫ਼ਿਕਰਮੰਦ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਇਸਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਿਆਂ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਸਮਸਿਆ ਬ੍ਬਾਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਪਖੋਂ ਗੁਨਾਹਗਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਪੱਤਰ ਗਲਤ ਕੰਮ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਸਦਮਾ ਲਗਿਆ।
11For behold, this same thing, that you were made sorry in a godly way, what earnest care it worked in you. Yes, what defense, indignation, fear, longing, zeal, and vengeance! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be pure in the matter.
12ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਪੱਤਰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਇਹ ਦੇਖ ਸਕੋਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੀ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਹੈ।
12So although I wrote to you, I wrote not for his cause that did the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered the wrong, but that your earnest care for us might be revealed in you in the sight of God.
13ਇਹੀ ਕਾਰਣ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਈ ਕਿ ਤੀਤੁਸ ਇੰਨਾ ਖੁਸ਼ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
13Therefore we have been comforted. In our comfort we rejoiced the more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all.
14ਮੈਂ ਤੀਤੁਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਜਤਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਦਰਸ਼ਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਠੀਕ ਸੀ। ਅਸੀਂ ਸਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਸਬੂਤ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੀਤੁਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਜਤਾਇਆ ਸੀ ਉਹ ਠੀਕ ਸਨ।
14For if in anything I have boasted to him on your behalf, I was not disappointed. But as we spoke all things to you in truth, so our glorying also which I made before Titus was found to be truth.
15ਜਦੋਂ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਣ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਸੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵੱਲ ਉਸਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਧ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਭੈਅ ਨਾਲ ਜੀ ਆਇਆਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ
15His affection is more abundantly toward you, while he remembers all of your obedience, how with fear and trembling you received him.
16ਮੈਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਤੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
16I rejoice that in everything I am confident concerning you.
