¹ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਤਡ਼ਕੇ, ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕ, ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂ, ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਉਂਤ ਬਣਾਈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਗਵਰਨਰ ਕੋਲ ਲੈ ਗਏ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

¹Immediately in the morning the chief priests, with the elders and scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him up to Pilate.

²ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ?” ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਉਹ ਠੀਕ ਹੈ।

²Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” He answered, “So you say.”

³ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਬੂਤ ਉਸਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਗਵਾਹ ਲਿਆਏ।

³The chief priests accused him of many things.

⁴ਤਾਂ ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਸਵਾਲ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਜਵਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ?

⁴Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer? See how many things they testify against you!”

⁵ਪਰ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਕੋਈ ਜਵਾਬ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਸੀ। ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਮਰਥ ਰਿਹਾ

⁵But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate marveled.

⁶ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਪਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਕੈਦੀ, ਜਿਸ ਲਈ ਲੋਕ ਅਰਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ।

⁶Now at the feast he used to release to them one prisoner, whom they asked of him.

⁷ਉਸ ਵਕਤ, ਬਰੱਬਾਸ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਕੈਦੀ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਦਰੋਹੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੈਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦ੍ਰੋਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਕਤਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਨ।

⁷There was one called Barabbas, bound with those who had made insurrection, men who in the insurrection had committed murder.

⁸ਲੋਕ ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕ ਕੈਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਤ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਏ।

⁸The multitude, crying aloud, began to ask him to do as he always did for them.

⁹ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਵਾਂ?”

⁹Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”

¹⁰ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨੀ ਕਾਰਣ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਹੱਥੀ ਫ਼ਡ਼ਵਾਇਆ ਸੀ।

¹⁰For he perceived that for envy the chief priests had delivered him up.

¹¹ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਕਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੀ ਥਾਵੇਂ ਬਰੱਬਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਜ਼ਾਦ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਜੋਰ ਪਾਉਣ।

¹¹But the chief priests stirred up the multitude, that he should release Barabbas to them instead.

¹²ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਨੇ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਥੋਂ ਇਸ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨਾਲ, ਜੋ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਕਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੀ ਕਰਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ?”

¹²Pilate again asked them, “What then should I do to him whom you call the King of the Jews?”

¹³ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਰੌਲਾ ਪਾਇਆ, “ਇਸਨੂੰ ਸਲੀਬ ਦਿਓ।”

¹³They cried out again, “Crucify him!”

¹⁴ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਕਿਉਂ? ਇਸਨੇ ਕੀ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ?” ਪਰ ਲੋਕ ਹੋਰ ਜ਼ੋਰ-ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦੀ ਚੀਕਣ ਲੱਗੇ, “ਇਸਨੂੰ ਸਲੀਬ ਤੇ ਚਢ਼ਾ ਦੇਵੋ।

¹⁴Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, “Crucify him!”

¹⁵ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਬਰੱਬਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਜ਼ਾਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਡ਼ੇ ਮਾਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਲੀਬ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

¹⁵Pilate, wishing to please the multitude, released Barabbas to them, and handed over Jesus, when he had flogged him, to be crucified.

¹⁶ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਥ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ।

¹⁶The soldiers led him away within the court, which is the Praetorium; and they called together the whole cohort.

¹⁷ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਾਮੁਨੀ ਰੰਗ ਦਾ ਕੱਪਡ਼ਾ ਯਿਸੂ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ, ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕੰਡਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁੰਦਕੇ ਕੰਡਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਤਾਜ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ।

¹⁷They clothed him with purple, and weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on him.

¹⁸ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਹ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਮ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ, ਨਮਸਕਾਰ!”

¹⁸They began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

¹⁹ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਵਾਰ-ਵਾਰ ਉਸਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਟੀਆਂ ਮਾਰੀਆਂ। ਉਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਥੁਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਰ-ਬਾਰ ਉਸ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਕੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਖੌਲ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ।

¹⁹They struck his head with a reed, and spat on him, and bowing their knees, did homage to him.

²⁰ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਖੌਲ ਕਰ ਹਟੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਜਾਮਨੀ ਕੱਪਡ਼ਾ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੇ ਕੱਪਡ਼ੇ ਪੁਆ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਮਹਿਲ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਲੈ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਸਲੀਬ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ।

²⁰When they had mocked him, they took the purple off of him, and put his own garments on him. They led him out to crucify him.

²¹ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਕੁਰੇਨੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ। ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਸ਼ਮਊਨ ਸੀ ਸਿਕੰਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਰੁਫ਼ੂਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ। ਉਹ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੀ ਸਲੀਬ ਚੁੱਕੇ।

²¹They compelled one passing by, coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to go with them, that he might bear his cross.

²²ਉਹ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਗਲਗਥਾ ਨਾਉਂ ਦੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਤੇ ਲੈ ਗਏ ਗਲਗਥਾ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ “ਖੋਪਰਈ ਦਾ ਥਾਂ”

²²They brought him to the place called Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, “The place of a skull.”

²³ਉਥੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਅ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੰਧਰਸ ਮਿਲਾਕੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪੀਣ ਲਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਪਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੀਤੀ।

²³They offered him wine mixed with myrrh to drink, but he didn’t take it.

²⁴ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਸਲੀਬ ਤੇ ਕਿੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਠੋਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਕੱਪਡ਼ੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡ ਲਏ। ਇਹ ਕੱਪਡ਼ੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਣੇ ਪਾਕੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡੇ ਕਿ ਕਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਕਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਕੱਪਡ਼ੇ ਲਵੇਗਾ।

²⁴Crucifying him, they parted his garments among them, casting lots on them, what each should take.

²⁵ਸਵੇਰ ਦੇ ਨੌ ਵਜੇ ਸਨ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਸਲੀਬ ਤੇ ਚਢ਼ਾਇਆ।

²⁵It was the third hour, 9:00 A. M. and they crucified him.

²⁶ਅਤੇ ਉਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੱਤਰੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਿਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ, “ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ।”

²⁶The superscription of his accusation was written over him, “THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

²⁷ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੋ ਹੋਰ ਚੋਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸਲੀਬ ਤੇ ਚਢ਼ਾਇਆ। ਇੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੇ ਖੱਬੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਚਢ਼ਾਇਆ।

²⁷With him they crucified two robbers; one on his right hand, and one on his left.

²⁸[This verse may not be a part of this translation]

²⁸The Scripture was fulfilled, which says, “He was numbered with transgressors.” NU omits verse 28.

²⁹ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਲੋਕ ਉਥੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਘੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਮਜ਼ਾਕ ਉਡਾਇਆ। “ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਹਿਲਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਬਲ੍ਲੇ! ਤੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਇਹ ਮੰਦਰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

²⁹Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, and saying, “Ha! You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days,

³⁰ਤਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਸਲੀਬ ਤੋਂ ਥੱਲੇ ਉਤਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ?”

³⁰save yourself, and come down from the cross!”

³¹ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਵੀ ਉਸੇ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਖਡ਼ੇ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਯਿਸੂ ਦਾ ਮਜ਼ਾਕ ਉਡਾਇਆ। ਉਹ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗੇ, “ਉਸਨੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਬਚਾਇਆ, ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਿਆ।

³¹Likewise, also the chief priests mocking among themselves with the scribes said, “He saved others. He can’t save himself.

³²ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਸੱਚੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਸੀਹ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਹੁਣੇ ਉਹ ਸਲੀਬੋਂ ਉਤਰ ਆਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਵੇ, ਤਦ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਪਰਤੀਤ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ।” ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਚੋਰ ਉਸਦੇ ਖੱਬੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਸਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਮਜ਼ਾਕ ਉਡਾਇਆ।

³²Let the Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, that we may see and believe him. TR omits “him” ” Those who were crucified with him insulted him.

³³ਦੁਪਿਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ, ਹਨੇਰੇ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਢਕ ਲਿਆ। ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੁਪਿਹਰ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਰਿਹਾ।

³³When the sixth hour or, noon had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 3:00 PM

³⁴ਤਿੰਨ ਕੁ ਵਜੇ, ਯਿਸੂ ਉੱਚੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੀਕਿਆ, “ਏਲੋਈ ਏਲੋਈ ਲਮਾ ਸਬਕਤਾਨੀ।” ਜਿਸਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ, “ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ?”

³⁴At the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is, being interpreted, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Psalm 22:1

³⁵ਉਥ ਖਢ਼ੇ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਚੀਕ ਸੁਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਸੁਣੋ! ਉਹ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।”

³⁵Some of those who stood by, when they heard it, said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.”

³⁶One ran, and filling a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed, and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to take him down.”

³⁷ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਉੱਚੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੀਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ-ਹੀਣ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।

³⁷Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and gave up the spirit.

³⁸ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਛੱਡੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੰਦਰ ਦਾ ਪਰਦਾ ਉੱਪਰ ਤੋਂ ਲੈਕੇ ਥੱਲੇ ਤੱਕ ਦੋਫ਼ਾਡ਼ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।

³⁸The veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom.

³⁹ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸੂਬੇਦਾਰ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਸਾਮ੍ਹਣੇ ਖਡ਼ਾ ਸਭ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਜਦ ਉਸਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗਾ, “ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਚਮੁੱਚ ਹੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ।”

³⁹When the centurion, who stood by opposite him, saw that he cried out like this and breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”

⁴⁰ਕੁਝ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਥੋਡ਼ੀ ਦੂਰੀ ਤੇ ਖਢ਼ੀਆਂ ਇਹ ਵੇਖ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਮਗਦਲੀਨੀ, ਸਲੋਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਸੇਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਸਨ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਛੋਟਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ।

⁴⁰There were also women watching from afar, among whom were both Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;

⁴¹ਜਿਸ ਵਕਤ ਯਿਸੂ ਗਲੀਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਇਹ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਉਥੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ। ਇਹ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਤੋਂ ਆਈਆਂ ਸਨ।

⁴¹who, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and served him; and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.

⁴²ਇਸ ਦਿਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ (ਜਿਸਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਸਬਤ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ) ਅਤੇ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।

⁴²When evening had now come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

⁴³ਅਰਿਮਥੈਆ ਦਾ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਦਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਿਧ ਸਦੱਸ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਬਡ਼ੀ ਬਹਾਦੁਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਤੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ।

⁴³Joseph of Arimathaea, a prominent council member who also himself was looking for the Kingdom of God, came. He boldly went in to Pilate, and asked for Jesus’ body.

⁴⁴ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਮਰ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸਨੇ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੂਬੇਦਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਵਾਕਈ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਚੁਕਿਆ ਸੀ।

⁴⁴Pilate marveled if he were already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he had been dead long.

⁴⁵ਸੂਬੇਦਾਰ ਨੇ ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਨੇ ਲੋਥ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ।

⁴⁵When he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.

⁴⁶ਤਾਂ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੀਨ ਕੱਪਡ਼ਾ ਖਰੀਦਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਥ ਨੂੰ ਸਲੀਬ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਕੱਪਡ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਪੇਟਿਆ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੇ ਲੋਥ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਕਬਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀ ਚੱਟਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਢੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਬਰ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰ ਨੂੰ ਢਕਣ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਪੱਥਰ ਰੇਢ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

⁴⁶He bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb which had been cut out of a rock. He rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.

⁴⁷ਮਰਿਯਮ ਮਗਦਲੀਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਸੇਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਮਰਿਯਮ ਉਸ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

⁴⁷Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of Joses, saw where he was laid.
