¹After six days, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain by themselves.

²ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਮ੍ਹਣੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਬਦਲ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸਦਾ ਮੁਖ ਸੂਰਜ ਵਾਂਗ ਚਮਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਕੱਪਡ਼ੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਵਰਗੇ ਚਿਟ੍ਟੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ।

²He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became as white as the light.

³ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋ ਆਦਮੀ, ਮੂਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ, ਯਿਸੂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਏ।

³Behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with him.

⁴ਤਦ ਪਤਰਸ ਨੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਸਾਡਾ ਇਥੇ ਹੋਣਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚਾਹੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਥੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਡੇਰੇ ਬਨਾਵਾਂ, ਇੱਕ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਮੂਸਾ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਲਈ।”

⁴Peter answered, and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, let’s make three tents here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

⁵ਅਜੇ ਪਤਰਸ ਬੋਲ ਹੀ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਜੋਤਮਾਨ ਬੱਦਲ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਛਾਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਬੱਦਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਇਹ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਆਈ ਕਿ, “ਇਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।”

⁵While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. Behold, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”

⁶ਜਦੋਂ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਘਬਰਾ ਗਏ। ਉਹ ਮੂਧੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਏ।

⁶When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces, and were very afraid.

⁷ਪਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਨੇਡ਼ੇ ਆਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੋਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਉਠੋ ਅਤੇ ਡਰੋ ਨਾ।”

⁷Jesus came and touched them and said, “Get up, and don’t be afraid.”

⁸ਤਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅਖਾਂ ਚੁੱਕੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਥੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕਲਾ ਦੇਖਿਆ।

⁸Lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus alone.

⁹ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਪਹਾਡ਼ ਤੋਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਜਦ ਤੀਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮੁਰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਾ ਜੀ ਉਠੇ, ਉਸ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਣਾ।”

⁹As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Don’t tell anyone what you saw, until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.”

¹⁰ਤਦ ਉਸਦੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਤੋਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਫ਼ੇਰ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਇਹ ਕਿਉਂ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਮਸੀਹ ਦੇ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਦਾ ਆਉਣਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ?”

¹⁰His disciples asked him, saying, “Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

¹¹ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਉਹ ਠੀਕ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਬਹਾਲ ਕਰੇਗਾ।

¹¹Jesus answered them, “Elijah indeed comes first, and will restore all things,

¹²ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਆ ਚੁਕਿਆ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ। ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਬਦੀ ਲੋਕ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਸਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਵੇਗਾ।”

¹² but I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they didn’t recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted to. Even so the Son of Man will also suffer by them.”

¹³ਤਦ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਪਈ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਬਪਤਿਸਮਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਸੀ।

¹³Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptizer.

¹⁴ਜਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਭੀਡ਼ ਕੋਲ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਰਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਅੱਗੇ ਗੋਡੇ ਨਿਵਾਕੇ ਬੋਲਿਆ,

¹⁴When they came to the multitude, a man came to him, kneeling down to him, saying,

¹⁵ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ, “ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਯਾ ਕਰੋ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਮਿਰਗੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਾਰੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

¹⁵“Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is epileptic, and suffers grievously; for he often falls into the fire, and often into the water.

¹⁶ਮੈਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਕੋਲ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ।”

¹⁶So I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him.”

¹⁷ਤਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਢੰਗ ਗਲਤ ਹੈ। ਕਿੰਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ? ਕਿੰਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਬਰ ਤੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ। ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਥੇ ਲਿਆਓ।”

¹⁷Jesus answered, “Faithless and perverse generation! How long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him here to me.”

¹⁸ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਅੰਦਰਲੇ ਭੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਖਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਝਿਡ਼ਕਿਆ। ਭੂਤ ਬੱਚੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸੇ ਘਡ਼ੀ ਬੱਚਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।

¹⁸Jesus rebuked him, the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour.

¹⁹ਫ਼ੇਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਸੀ ਚੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਭੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਕਢ ਸਕੇ?

¹⁹Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, “Why weren’t we able to cast it out?”

²⁰ਉਸਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਬੱਚੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਭੂਤ ਕਢਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਨਾਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਰਹੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਸੀ। ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰ੍ਹੋਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਣੇ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਵੀ ਆਸਥਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਪਹਾਡ਼ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਜੇ ਕਹੋਂਗੇ, ‘ਇਥੋਂ ਹਟਕੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਚਲਾ ਜਾ’, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਚਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਕੰਮ ਅਨਹੋਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।”

²⁰He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

²¹[This verse may not be a part of this translation]

²¹ But this kind doesn’t go out except by prayer and fasting.”

²²ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਰੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਗਲੀਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

²²While they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men,

²³ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੀਜੇ ਦਿਨ ਜੀ ਉਠੇਗਾ।” ਚੇਲੇ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਬਡ਼ੇ ਉਦਾਸ ਹੋਏ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

²³ and they will kill him, and the third day he will be raised up.” They were exceedingly sorry.

²⁴ਯਿਸੂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਕਫ਼ਰਨਾਹੂਮ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਮੰਦਰ ਦਾ ਕਰ ਉਗਰਾਹੁਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਤਰਸ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੋ ਡ੍ਰਾਖਮਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਦਾ ਮਸੂਲ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ?”

²⁴When they had come to Capernaum, those who collected the didrachma coins A didrachma is a Greek silver coin worth 2 drachmas, about as much as 2 Roman denarii, or about 2 days’ wages. It was commonly used to pay the half-shekel temple tax, because 2 drachmas were worth one half shekel of silver. came to Peter, and said, “Doesn’t your teacher pay the didrachma?”

²⁵ਪਤਰਸ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਹਾਂ, ਯਿਸੂ ਮਸੂਲ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।” ਜਦੋਂ ਪਤਰਸ ਘਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਇਆ, ਉਸਦੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਯਿਸੂ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਸ਼ਮਊਨ, ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਹੈਂ? ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਕਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਮਸੂਲ ਵਸੂਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਂ ਦੂਸਰਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ?”

²⁵He said, “Yes.” When he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth receive toll or tribute? From their children, or from strangers?”

²⁶ਪਤਰਸ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਉਹ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਸੂਲ ਵਸੂਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੋਟ ਹੈ।

²⁶Peter said to him, “From strangers.” Jesus said to him, “Therefore the children are exempt.

²⁷ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਮਸੂਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਰਾਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਮਸੂਲ ਅਦਾ ਕਰੋ, ਝੀਲ ਤੇ ਜਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਮਛੀਆਂ ਫ਼ਡ਼ੋ। ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀ ਮਛੀ ਤੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਫ਼ਡ਼ੇਂਗਾ ਉਸਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਖੋਲ੍ਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਰ ਦ੍ਰਾਖਮਾ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਸਿੱਕਾ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਸਿੱਕਾ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਸੂਲੀਏ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦੇਵੀਂ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਸੂਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।”

²⁷ But, lest we cause them to stumble, go to the sea, cast a hook, and take up the first fish that comes up. When you have opened its mouth, you will find a stater coin. A stater is a silver coin equivalent to four Attic or two Alexandrian drachmas, or a Jewish shekel: just exactly enough to cover the half-shekel temple tax for two people. Take that, and give it to them for me and you.”
