¹ਯਿਸੂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੋਲਿਆ:

¹Jesus answered and spoke again in parables to them, saying,

²“ਸਵਰਗ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਇੱਕ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਵਤ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਵਾਈ।

² “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,

³ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੋਕਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਨੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਵਤ ਤੇ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਦਾਵਤ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੋਕਰਾਂ ਹੱਥ ਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ, ਪਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੀ ਦਾਵਤ ਤੇ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

³ and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.

⁴“ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਹੋਰ ਵਧ ਨੋਕਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਣ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ, ‘ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੋ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਿਆ; ਦਾਵਤ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਲਦਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਟੇ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਣ ਲਈ ਵਢਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੈ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਵਤ ਲਈ ਆਓ।’

⁴ Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast!”’

⁵“ਸੇਵਕ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕਹਿ ਆਏ” ਪਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਕੋਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਣਜ ਨੂੰ।

⁵ But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,

⁶ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਕਠੇ ਹੋਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੋਕਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਡ਼ਿਆ, ਕੁਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਨੋ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

⁶ and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.

⁷ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਬਡ਼ਾ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਆਇਆ। ਉਸਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਤਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਸਾਡ਼ਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ।

⁷ When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

⁸“ਉਸਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੋਕਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ‘ਦਾਵਤ ਤਾਂ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਦਾਵਤ ਲਈ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਕਾਬਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਥੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ।

⁸ “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.

⁹ਸੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚੁਰਾਹਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਜਾਵੋ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਿਲੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਵਤ ਤੇ ਆਉਣ ਦਾ ਨਿਉਂਤਾ ਦਿਉ।’

⁹ Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.’

¹⁰ਤਾਂ ਨੋਕਰ ਬਾਹਰ ਚੁਰਾਹਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਗਏ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਲਭ ਸਕੇ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਲੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਇਕਠੇ ਕਰ ਲਏ। ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਗਈ।

¹⁰ Those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.

¹¹“ਜਦੋਂ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੇ ਕੱਪਡ਼ੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।

¹¹ But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,

¹²ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘ਭਈ ਤੂੰ ਇਥੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਵਾਲੀ ਪੋਸ਼ਾਕ ਪਾਏ ਬਗੈਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਆਇਆ? ਪਰ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਕਿਹਾ।

¹² and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.

¹³ਤਾਂ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਨੋਕਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘ਇਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ-ਪੈਰ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਕੇ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿਉ। ਉਸ ਜਗ਼੍ਹਾ ਲੋਕ ਰੋਂਦੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਦਰਦ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੰਦ ਕਰੀਚ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ।’

¹³ Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’

¹⁴“ਹਾਂ, ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਥੋਡ਼ੇ ਹੀ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।”

¹⁴ For many are called, but few chosen.”

¹⁵ਉਸਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀ ਬਾਹਰ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਫ਼ਸਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ।

¹⁵Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.

¹⁶ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੁਝ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੇਰੋਦੀਆਂ ਨਾਮੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਯਿਸੂ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ, ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੱਚਾਈ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕੌਣ ਹਨ?”

¹⁶They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach, for you aren’t partial to anyone.

¹⁷ਸੋ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੀ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਹੋ ਕੀ ਕੈਸਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਸੂਲ ਦੇਣਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ?”

¹⁷Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

¹⁸ਪਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਇਰਾਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਪਟੀ ਹੋ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਸਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ?

¹⁸But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?

¹⁹ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਸਿੱਕਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਹਿਸੂਲ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਓ।” ਤੱਦ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਕਾ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਲਿਆਏ।

¹⁹ Show me the tax money.” They brought to him a denarius.

²⁰ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਇਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਇਹ ਮੂਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਲਿਖਤ ਕਿਸਦੀ ਹੈ?”

²⁰He asked them, “Whose is this image and inscription?”

²¹ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਇਹ ਕੈਸਰ ਦੀ ਤਸਵੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਕੈਸਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਹੈ।” ਤਦ ਉਸਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਕੈਸਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਕੈਸਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਉ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਉ।”

²¹They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

²²ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਬਡ਼ੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਛੱਡਕੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।

²²When they heard it, they marveled, and left him, and went away.

²³ਉਸੇ ਦਿਨ, ਕੁਝ ਸਦੂਕੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ। ਉਹ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਪੁਨਰ ਉਥਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਕਹਿਕੇ ਉਸਤੋਂ ਸਵਾਲ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ,

²³On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,

²⁴ਕਿ “ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਆਹੁਤਾ ਮਰਦ ਬੇਉਲਾਦ ਮਰ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਦਾ ਭਰਾ ਉਸਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰ ਲਵੇ। ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਲਈ ਵਾਰਿਸ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਬੱਚੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ।

²⁴saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed for his brother.’

²⁵ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਸੱਤ ਭਰਾ ਸਨ। ਪਹਿਲੇ ਨੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ। ਕਿਉਂ ਜੁ ਉਸਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਉਲਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਉਸਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਨੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾ ਲਿਆ।

²⁵Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no seed left his wife to his brother.

²⁶ਦੂਜੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਜੇ ਭਰਾ ਤੋਂ ਲੈਕੇ ਸੱਤਾਂ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ।

²⁶In the same way, the second also, and the third, to the seventh.

²⁷ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੋਂ ਉਹ ਔਰਤ ਵੀ ਮਰ ਗਈ।

²⁷After them all, the woman died.

²⁸ਇਸ ਲਈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕੀਤਾ, ਪੁਨਰ ਉਥਾਨ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਉਹ ਕਿਸਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ?”

²⁸In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her.”

²⁹ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਭੁੱਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਕਿ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਕੀ ਆਖਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।

²⁹But Jesus answered them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.

³⁰ਕਿਉਂਜੁ ਪੁਨਰ ਉਥਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ, ਉਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਆਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਨਗੇ। ਉਹ ਸਵਰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੋਣਗੇ।

³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like God’s angels in heaven.

³¹ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਢ਼ਿਆ ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੁਰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੁਨਰ ਉਥਾਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ।

³¹ But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,

³²‘ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ।’ ਉਹ ਮੁਰਦਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ।”

³² ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’ Exodus 3:6 God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

³³ਲੋਕ ਉਸਦਾ ਇਹ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋਏ।

³³When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.

³⁴ਜਦੋਂ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਸਦੂਕੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਥਾਂ ਇਕਠੇ ਹੋਏ।

³⁴But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.

³⁵ਇੱਕ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀ ਜੋ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਦਾ ਉਸਤਾਦ ਸੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਤਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸਵਾਲ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ,

³⁵One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.

³⁶ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ, ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੁਕਮ ਕਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਹੈ?”

³⁶“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”

³⁷ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਲ, ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਰੂਹ ਨਾਲ, ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ।

³⁷Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ Deuteronomy 6:5

³⁸ਪਹਿਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੈ।

³⁸ This is the first and great commandment.

³⁹ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਵੀ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਹੀ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਹੈ: “ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।

³⁹ A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Leviticus 19:18

⁴⁰ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਨੇਮ ਅਤੇ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਿਖਤਾਂ ਟਿਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

⁴⁰ The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

⁴¹ਜਦੋਂ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀ ਇਕਠੇ ਹੋਏ, ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸਵਾਲ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ।

⁴¹Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,

⁴²“ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਸੀਹ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੀ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਹੋ। ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਸਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ?” ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ।”

⁴²saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.”

⁴³ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਦਾਊਦ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ‘ਪ੍ਰਭੂ’ ਕਿਉਂ ਬੁਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ? ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਇਹ ਅਖਿਆ,

⁴³He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,

⁴⁴‘ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਬੈਠ ਜਦ ਤੀਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਹੇਠ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂ।’ਜ਼ਬੂਰ 110:1
