¹It happened in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of Yahweh, and sat before me.

²Huan TOUPA thu ka kiangah a hongtunga, ka kiangah,

²The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

³Mihing tapa, Israel upate houpih inla, a kiang uah, TOUPA PATHIANIN hichiin a chi ahi: Kei thudong dia hongpai na hi uh hia? A hina ka hin laiteng, noute thudotin ka om kei ding, chih TOUPA PATHIAN thu pawt ahi, chi in.

³Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Is it to inquire of me that you have come? As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I will not be inquired of by you.

⁴Amau na hawmsak kei dia hia? Mihing tapa, hawmsak tanla, a pate uh kihhuainate theisakin;

⁴Will you judge them, son of man, will you judge them? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers;

⁵Huan a kiang uah, TOUPA PATHIANIN hichiin a chi ahi: Israelte ka tel nia Jakob inkote telte kiangah ban jak hiala Aigupta gama a kiang ua ka kitheihsaka, a kiang ua ka khut ka jaka, Kei TOUPA na Pathian uh ka hi a, chia,

⁵and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: In the day when I chose Israel, and swore to the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I swore to them, saying, I am Yahweh your God;

⁶Huai nia Aigupta gam akipan pi khiaa, amaha dia gam kham, nawitui leh khuaijua luang gam, gam tengtenga kilawmpena pi lut dinga ka khut ka jak niin a kiang uah.

⁶in that day I swore to them, to bring them forth out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands.

⁷Mi chihin na mit ua muh thil kihhuai pai mang unla, Aigupta gama milimtein kihihnin kei un, kei TOUPA na Pathian uh ka hi hi, chiin ka gen a.

⁷I said to them, Cast away every man the abominations of his eyes, and don’t defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am Yahweh your God.

⁸Himahleh, ka tungah a hel ua, honlimsak himhim kei ua, mi chihin a mit ua muh thil kihhuaite leng a pai mang kei ua, Aigupta milimte leng a lehngatsan sam kei uh: Huaiah a tung ua ka hehna lungdam sak dingin Aigupta gamsung ngei ah a tunguah ka hehna ka leihbo na diamah, ka chi hi.

⁸But they rebelled against me, and would not listen to me; they each didn’t throw away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

⁹Himahleh, keimah min jiakin ka gamtang zotaa, a omna namte uh mitmuhin Aigupta gam akipan pi khiain a kiang uah ka kitheisaka, huai namte mitmuhin ka min gensiata a om louhna dingin.

⁹But I worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, among which they were, in whose sight I made myself known to them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁰Huchiin Aigupta gam pawt san dingin ka chitaa, gamdaiah ka honpi luttaa.

¹⁰So I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.

¹¹Huan ka dan bawlte amaute ka piaa, ka thugelte ka ensaka, huai min a zuih ua a hinna dingun.

¹¹I gave them my statutes, and showed them my ordinances, which if a man does, he shall live in them.

¹²Huailou leng kei leh amaute kikala chiamtehna dingin ka khawlnite amau ka piaa, kei TOUPA, amaute koihtuampa ka hi chih a theihtheihna dingun.

¹²Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.

¹³Himahleh Israel inkote gamdai ah ka tungah a hel ua, ka danbawlte a jui kei ua, ka thugelte, min a hiha a hinna ding takuh a pai khia ua, ka khawlnite leng nakpitakin a bohsia ua; Huchiin gamdai ah amau hihmang dingin ka hehna a tunguah ka leihna diamah, ka chi a.

¹³But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they didn’t walk in my statutes, and they rejected my ordinances, which if a man keep, he shall live in them; and my Sabbaths they greatly profaned. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

¹⁴Ka pi khiak laiin a theimite nam mahmah mitmuha hihsiata a om louhna dingun ka min jiakin ka gamtang zota ahi.

¹⁴But I worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.

¹⁵Huailouin huai gamdaiah ka gam piak, nawitui leh khuaijua luang gam, gam tengtenga kilawmpen ah ka pi lut kei ding, ban jak hialin ka chi a;

¹⁵Moreover also I swore to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;

¹⁶Ka thugelte a pai khia ua, ka dan bawlte a jui kei ua, ka khawlnite a bohsiat jiak un: a lungtang un a milimte uh a jui ngal ua.

¹⁶because they rejected my ordinances, and didn’t walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

¹⁷Himahleh hihmang lou dingin ka mitin a muh maihta a, gamah leng ka hihmang vekta kei hi.

¹⁷Nevertheless my eye spared them, and I didn’t destroy them, neither did I make a full end of them in the wilderness.

¹⁸Huan gamdai ah a tate uh kiangah, Na pate uh dan bawl jui kei unla, a thugelte uh jui kei unla, a milimte un kihihnin sam kei un;

¹⁸I said to their children in the wilderness, Don’t walk in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their ordinances, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

¹⁹Kei TOUPA na Pathian uh ka hia, ka dan bawlte jui unla, ka thugelte vom unla, jui un:

¹⁹I am Yahweh your God: walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them;

²⁰Ka khawlni tang unla, kei leh noute kikala chiamtehna ahi dinga, TOUPA na Pathian uh ka hi chih na theihna uh ahi sin hi, ka chi a.

²⁰and make my Sabbaths holy; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am Yahweh your God.

²¹Himahleh a tate uh ka tungah a hel ua, ka dan bawlte a jui kei ua, ka thugelte, min a hiha a hinna ding tak, jui dingin a vom sam kei uh; khawlnite a bohseta ua; Gamdai ah ka hehna lungdamsak dingin a tunguah ka hehna ka leihna diamah, ka chi a.

²¹But the children rebelled against me; they didn’t walk in my statutes, neither kept my ordinances to do them, which if a man do, he shall live in them; they profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

²²Himahleh ka khut ka kideksaka, ka pi khiak lai atheimite nam ngei mitmuh a hihsiata a om louhna dingun ka min jiakin ka gamtang zota ahi.

²²Nevertheless I withdrew my hand, and worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them forth.

²³Huailou leng, namte lakah amau ka dalhsak dinga, gam chih ah ka thelthang sak ding, gamdai ah ban jak hialin ka na chi a.

²³Moreover I swore to them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations, and disperse them through the countries;

²⁴Ka thugelte a jui kei ua, ka dan bawlte a pai khia ua, ka khawlnite a bohsia ua, a pate uh milim lam a ngat jiakun,

²⁴because they had not executed my ordinances, but had rejected my statutes, and had profaned my Sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers’ idols.

²⁵Huailou leng, dan bawl hoih lou ka piaa, a hin louhna ding ua thugelte toh;

²⁵Moreover also I gave them statutes that were not good, and ordinances in which they should not live;

²⁶A thil tan uh, sul hongmi tengten mei a paihna uah amaute ka hihnina, ka lungjuang saka, a tawpa TOUPA ka hi chih a theihna ding un.

²⁶and I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that opens the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am Yahweh.

²⁷Huaijiakin mihing tapa, a kiang uah thu gen inla, a kiang uah, TOUPA PATHIANIN hichiin a chi ahi: Na pate un hialte ah a hon gense lailai uh ahi, ka tunga tatlekna thil ahih uahte.

²⁷Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: In this moreover have your fathers blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.

²⁸Ban jak hiala amaute ka chiam gamah ka honpi lutin, tang sang leh sing buk lian a muh peuhmah uah a kithoihnate uh a lan ua, a thil lat uh hehhuai mahmahte a pia uh. A gimlimte uh a bawl ua, a dawn ding thil latte uh a bungkhe ngal ua, chiin.

²⁸For when I had brought them into the land, which I swore to give to them, then they saw every high hill, and every thick tree, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering; there also they made their pleasant aroma, and they poured out there their drink offerings.

²⁹Huchiin ken a kianguah, Mun sanga na hoh nak uh bang na chihna uh ahia? ka chi a; huchiin a min adingin tuni tanin, Bamah, chih a hita hi.

²⁹Then I said to them, What does the high place where you go mean? So its name is called Bamah to this day.

³⁰Huchiin Israel inkote kiangah gen inla, TOUPA PATHIANIN hichiin a chi ahi: Na pate uh bang jelin noumau na kihihnin un a kihhuaina bang un hup mang na hi ding uh maw?

³⁰Therefore tell the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Do you pollute yourselves in the way of your fathers? and do you play the prostitute after their abominations?

³¹Na thil tan uh na lan un, na tate uh meiah na pai ua, tuni tanin na milimte tengteng un na kihihnin uh ahi kei maw? Noute thudot ding ka hi ahia, aw Israel inkote aw? A hina ka hin laiteng noute thudotin ka om kei ding, chih TOUPA PATHIAN thu pawt ahi.

³¹and when you offer your gifts, when you make your sons to pass through the fire, do you pollute yourselves with all your idols to this day? and shall I be inquired of by you, house of Israel? As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I will not be inquired of by you;

³²I kim ua nam dang pautuam mite banga singbul suangbul be ding I hi uh, na lungsim un na chi na ua, na hi het kei ding uh.

³²and that which comes into your mind shall not be at all, in that you say, We will be as the nations, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.

³³A hina ka hin laiteng, khut thagui hat takin, ban jak kawm leh heh suahin na tunguah ka lal ngeingei ding, chih TOUPA PATHIAN thupawt ahi.

³³As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, surely with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out, will I be king over you:

³⁴Namte laka kipan ka honpi khe dinga, dalhsaka na omna gam ua kipan khut hat tak leh ban jak leh heh suahin ka honpi khawm ding.

³⁴and I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries in which you are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out;

³⁵Pau tuam mite gamdai gamah ka honpi lut dinga, ki maituahin I kisual ding uh,

³⁵and I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there will I enter into judgment with you face to face.

³⁶Aigupta gam gamdaia na pate uh ka sual bang takin nou leng ka honsual ding, chih TOUPA PATHIAN thu pawt ahi.

³⁶Like as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I enter into judgment with you, says the Lord Yahweh.

³⁷Huan chiang nuaiah ka honlut sak dinga, thukhun delhkhumna nuaiah ka honpilut ding hi;

³⁷I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant;

³⁸Huan na lakua kipan mi helte leh ka tunga talekmite ka khuah siang dinga, a omna gam ua kipanin kapi khe dinga, himahleh Israel gamah a lut het kei dinguh: huchiin TOUPA ka hi chih na thei ding uh.

³⁸and I will purge out from among you the rebels, and those who disobey against me; I will bring them forth out of the land where they live, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and you shall know that I am Yahweh.

³⁹Noute ahihleh, Aw Israel inkote aw, TOUPA PATHIANIN hichiin a chi ahi: Ka thu na ngaihkhiak sin kei uleh tunung chiang inleng na milim na uh sem chiat maita unla; himahleh ka min siangthou bel na thilpiakte u leh na milimte un na hihnin ta kei ding uhi.

³⁹As for you, house of Israel, thus says the Lord Yahweh: Go, serve everyone his idols, and hereafter also, if you will not listen to me; but my holy name you shall no more profane with your gifts, and with your idols.

⁴⁰Ka tang siangthou, Israel sanna tang ah, huaiah Israel inkote tengtengin a vek un, huai gamah ka na a sem ding uh; huaiah amaute ka pakta ta dia, huaiah na thillatte uh na thilpiak hoih tatate uh, na thil tan tengteng uh ka deihta ding.

⁴⁰For in my holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, says the Lord Yahweh, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them, serve me in the land: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the first fruits of your offerings, with all your holy things.

⁴¹As a pleasant aroma will I accept you, when I bring you out from the peoples, and gather you out of the countries in which you have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you in the sight of the nations.

⁴²Huan Israel gam, ban jak hiala na pate uh piak ka chiam gama noute ka honpi lut hun chiangin TOUPA ka hi chih na thei ding uh,

⁴²You shall know that I am Yahweh, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country which I swore to give to your fathers.

⁴³Huan huaiah n aomdante u leh na thilhih uh, na kihihnitna tengteng uh na thei t ading uh; huchiin na thilhoih lou hih tengtengte uh jiakinnoute mitmuh ngeiin na kihta ding uhi.

⁴³There you shall remember your ways, and all your doings, in which you have polluted yourselves; and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that you have committed.

⁴⁴Huan na omdan hoihloute uh bang hi loua, na thilhih uh thulimloute bang leng hi sam loua, ka min jiaka noute ka honpichin sak hun chiangin, aw Israel innkote aw, TOUPA kahi chih na thei ta ding uh, chih TOUPA PATHIAN thu pawt ahi, chiin.

⁴⁴You shall know that I am Yahweh, when I have dealt with you for my name’s sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, you house of Israel, says the Lord Yahweh.

⁴⁵Huan TOUPA thu ka kiangah a hongtunga, ka kiangah,

⁴⁵The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

⁴⁶Mihing tapa, sim lam masuan inla, simlam ngain na thu khah inla, sim lam gammangpi lamah thu gen inla,

⁴⁶Son of man, set your face toward the south, and drop your word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the South;

⁴⁷sim lam gammangpi kiangah, TOUPA thu ngai in, TOUPA PATHIANIN hichiin a chi ahi: Ngai in, nangah mei ka toh dinga, nanga sing hing tengteng a kang bei dinga, sing keu peuhmah leng: mei kuang luahluah a dai kei ding, sim akipana mal tanin, matuah teng a kangvom ding hi.

⁴⁷and tell the forest of the South, Hear the word of Yahweh: Thus says the Lord Yahweh, Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree in you, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burnt thereby.

⁴⁸Huan mi tengtengin kei TOUPA meikhahpa ka hi chih a mu ding ua, a mit kei ding, a chi hi, chi in, a chi a.Huchiin ken, A! TOUPA PATHIAN, Gentehna thugenmi lel avele, honchi kei dia, ka chi a.

⁴⁸All flesh shall see that I, Yahweh, have kindled it; it shall not be quenched.

⁴⁹Then I said, Ah Lord Yahweh! they say of me, Isn’t he a speaker of parables?
