¹ «ای کاهنان بشنوید! ای قوم اسرائیل توجّه کنید! ای خاندان پادشاه گوش بدهید! شما محکوم هستید، زیرا در مصفه همچون دامی گشتید و در کوه تابور مانند دام شدید.

¹Hear this, ye priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ear, O house of the king: for this judgment is for you; for ye have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.

² ای مردم سرکش، شما را به‌خاطر کشتار بی‌حد، مجازات می‌کنم.

²And they have plunged themselves in the corruption of apostasy, but I will be a chastiser of them all.

³ من اسرائیل را می‌شناسم و کارهای وی هم از من مخفی نیست. اسرائیل زنا کرده و آلوده شده است.»

³I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me; for now, Ephraim, thou hast committed whoredom; Israel is defiled.

⁴ کارهایشان مانع بازگشت آنها به سوی خدایشان است، زیرا روح زناکاری در آنها رخنه کرده است و نمی‌توانند خداوند را بشناسند.

⁴Their doings do not allow them to return unto their God; for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they know not Jehovah.

⁵ غرور قوم اسرائیل علیه آنها شهادت می‌دهد. مردم افرایم در زیر بار گناه می‌لغزند و یهودا هم با آنها یک‌‌جا به زمین می‌خورد.

⁵And Israel's pride doth testify to his face; and Israel and Ephraim shall fall by their iniquity: Judah also shall fall with them.

⁶ آنها با رمه و گلّهٔ خود به جستجوی خداوند می‌روند، امّا او را نمی‌یابند، زیرا او خود را از آنها دور ساخته است.

⁶They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Jehovah; but they shall not find [him]: he hath withdrawn himself from them.

⁷ آنها به خداوند خیانت کرده‌اند و فرزندان غیر مشروع به وجود آورده‌اند. پس اکنون آنها و سرزمین ایشان بزودی از بین خواهند رفت.

⁷They have dealt treacherously against Jehovah; for they have begotten strange children: now shall the new moon devour them, with their allotted possessions.

⁸ شیپور جنگ را در جبعه و زنگ خطر را در رامه به صدا در آورید و در بیت آون فریاد بزنید. ای مردم بنیامین، از ترس بلرزید!

⁸Blow the horn in Gibeah, the trumpet in Ramah; cry aloud [at] Beth-aven: behind thee, O Benjamin!

⁹ ای افرایم روز مجازات تو نزدیک است و بزودی ویران می‌شوی. به بنی‌اسرائیل اعلام می‌کنم که این واقعه حتمی است.

⁹Ephraim shall be a desolation in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which is sure.

¹⁰ خداوند می‌فرماید: «رهبران یهودا زمینها را غارت می‌کنند، بنابراین من خشم خود را مانند سیلاب بر آنها فرو خواهم ریخت.

¹⁰The princes of Judah are become like them that remove the landmark: I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.

¹¹ اسرائیل مورد قهر من قرار گرفته است و در روز محاکمه درهم کوبیده می‌شود، زیرا پیرو چیزهای باطل گردیده است.

¹¹Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, because in selfwill he walked after the commandment [of man].

¹² بنابراین، من برای اسرائیل مانند بید که پشم را از بین می‌برد خواهم بود و ریشهٔ یهودا را نابود می‌کنم.

¹²And I will be unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness.

¹³ «وقتی اسرائیل دید که تا چه حد بیمار است و یهودا که جراحت او تا چه حد است، افرایم به کشور آشور روی ‌آورد و به پادشاه بزرگ آن پناه برد. امّا امپراتور آشور قادر نیست که او را شفا بدهد و یا زخمش را مداوا نماید.

¹³When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his sore, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb; but he was unable to heal you, nor hath he removed your sore.

¹⁴ مانند شیری که شکار خود را می‌درد، من افرایم و یهودا را می‌درم و با خود می‌برم و هیچ‌کسی نمی‌تواند آنها را از چنگ من برهاند. «سپس آنها را ترک خواهم کرد و به خانهٔ خود برمی‌گردم تا آنها به گناهان خود آگاه گردند و طالب روی من شوند و از من درخواست کمک نمایند.»

¹⁴For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah. I, I will tear and go away; I will carry off, and there shall be none to deliver.

¹⁵ «سپس آنها را ترک خواهم کرد و به خانهٔ خود برمی‌گردم تا آنها به گناهان خود آگاه گردند و طالب روی من شوند و از من درخواست کمک نمایند.»

¹⁵I will go away, I will return to my place, till they acknowledge their trespass, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.
