¹ شیپور خطر را در صهیون بنوازید؛ بگذارید صدای آن بر سر کوه مقدّس من شنیده شود و مردم یهودا از ترس بلرزند، زیرا روز داوری خداوند بزودی فرا می‌رسد.

¹Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of Jehovah cometh, for it is at hand;

² آن روز، روز تاریکی و ظلمت، روز ابرهای سیاه و تاریکی غلیظ است. سپاه نیرومندی همچون سیاهی شب کوهها را می‌پوشاند. آن لشکر چنان عظیم و قوی است که مانند آن قبلاً هرگز دیده نشده است و بعد از این هم دیده نخواهد شد.

²a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and gross darkness, as the dawn spread upon the mountains; -- a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after them, to the years of generations and generations.

³ همچون آتش، هرچه را که روی زمین است می‌سوزاند. زمین پیش از آمدن آنها مثل باغ عدن است، امّا وقتی از آن می‌گذرند، به بیابان خشک و بایر تبدیل می‌شود. هیچ چیز از چنگ آنها رهایی نمی‌یابد.

³A fire devoureth before them, and behind them a flame burneth; the land is as a garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness: yea, and nothing escapeth them.

⁴ آنها شبیه اسب هستند و مانند اسبهای جنگی می‌تازند.

⁴The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so they run.

⁵ وقتی بر کوهها جست و خیز می‌کنند، صدایشان همچون غرّش ارّابه‌ها و صدای شعلهٔ آتشی است که کاه را می‌سوزاند و مانند نعرهٔ سپاه نیرومندی است که برای جنگ لشکرکشی می‌کند.

⁵Like the noise of chariots, on the tops of the mountains, they leap; like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

⁶ مردم در برابر آنها وحشت می‌کنند و رنگ از رویشان می‌پرد.

⁶Before them the peoples are in anguish: all faces turn pale.

⁷ مانند جنگجویان حمله می‌آورند و همچون سربازان از دیوارها بالا می‌روند. همهٔ آنها مستقیم پیش می‌روند و جهت خود را تغییر نمی‌دهند.

⁷They run like mighty men; they climb the wall like men of war; and they march every one on his ways, and break not their ranks.

⁸ مانع یکدیگر نمی‌شوند، بلکه در صف خود مستقیماً پیش می‌روند، خط دفاع را می‌شکنند و هیچ سلاحی نمی‌تواند جلو آنها را بگیرد.

⁸Neither doth one press upon another; they march every one in his path; and fall amid weapons, but are not wounded.

⁹ به شهر هجوم می‌برند، از دیوارها بالا می‌روند و همچون دزد از پنجره‌ها وارد خانه‌ها می‌شوند.

⁹They spread themselves over the city; they run upon the wall; they climb up into the houses; they enter in by the windows like a thief.

¹⁰ زمین در زیر پای آنها به لرزه می‌آید و آسمانها تکان می‌خورند. خورشید و ماه تاریک می‌شوند و ستارگان نور افشانی نمی‌کنند.

¹⁰The earth quaketh before them; the heavens tremble; the sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.

¹¹ خداوند با صدای بلند به لشکر خود فرمان می‌دهد و سپاه عظیم و بی‌شمار او اوامرش را اطاعت می‌کنند. روز خداوند روزی هولناک و وحشت‌انگیز است. کیست که بتواند آن را تحمّل کند؟

¹¹And Jehovah uttereth his voice before his army; for his camp is very great; for strong is he that executeth his word: for the day of Jehovah is great and very terrible; and who can bear it?

¹² خداوند می‌فرماید: «با وجود اینها، با تمام دل خود، با روزه و گریه و ماتم به سوی من بازگردید.

¹²Yet even now, saith Jehovah, turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning;

¹³ پاره کردن لباسهایتان کافی نیست؛ بگذارید تا قلب شکستهٔ شما اندوهتان را نشان دهد» به سوی خداوند، خدای خود بازگردید، زیرا او کریم و مهربان است. زود خشم نمی‌گیرد و رحمت و محبّت او بی‌پایان است. همیشه برای بخشیدن آماده است و راضی به مجازات شما نیست.

¹³and rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto Jehovah your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great loving-kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

¹⁴ کسی چه می‌داند، شاید خداوند تصمیم خود را عوض کند و محصولات شما را آن‌قدر برکت بدهد که دوباره بتوانید هدیهٔ آردی و ریختنی به خداوند، خدای خود تقدیم کنید.

¹⁴Who knoweth? He might return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, an oblation and a drink-offering for Jehovah your God?

¹⁵ در کوه صهیون شیپور را به صدا در آورید؛ فرمان بدهید روزه بگیرند و برای گردهمایی بیایند.

¹⁵Blow the trumpet in Zion, hallow a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly;

¹⁶ آنها را تقدیس نمایید. ریش‌سفیدان، اطفال و حتّی کودکان شیر خوار را جمع کنید. داماد از خانه و عروس از حجلهٔ خود بیرون بیاید.

¹⁶gather the people, hallow the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts; let the bridegroom go forth from his chamber, and the bride from her closet.

¹⁷ کاهنانی که خادمان خداوند هستند، بین قربانگاه و دروازهٔ ورودی معبد بزرگ بایستند و گریه کنند و بگویند: «خداوندا، بر قومت رحم کن. نگذار که آنها مایهٔ تمسخر اقوام دیگر شوند و بگویند: 'خدای شما کجاست؟'»

¹⁷Let the priests, the ministers of Jehovah, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare, O Jehovah, thy people, and give not thine inheritance to reproach, that they should be a byword of the nations. Wherefore should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?

¹⁸ آنگاه خداوند به‌خاطر آبروی سرزمین خود به غیرت می‌آید و بر قوم خود رحمت می‌کند.

¹⁸Then Jehovah will be jealous for his land, and will have pity on his people.

¹⁹ خداوند در جواب قوم خود می‌فرماید: «من برای شما غلّه، شراب و روغن زیتون می‌فرستم تا سیر شوید. اقوام بیگانه دیگر شما را مسخره نخواهند کرد.

¹⁹And Jehovah will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I send you corn, and new wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith; and I will no more make you a reproach among the nations.

²⁰ لشکر دشمن را که از شمال بر شما هجوم آوردند، از آنجا دور کرده به سرزمینی خشک و ویران می‌رانم. بعضی از آنها را در دریای مرده و بعضی را در دریای مدیترانه می‌فرستم تا در آنجا بمیرند و بوی گَند لاشه‌هایشان به مشام برسد. من آنها را به‌خاطر آنچه که بر شما کردند، از بین خواهم برد.

²⁰And I will remove far off from you him [that cometh] from the north, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, his face toward the eastern sea, and his rear toward the hinder sea; and his stench shall come up, and his ill odour shall come up, for he hath exalted himself to do great things.

²¹ «ای زمین نترس و خوشحال باش، زیرا خداوند کارهای بزرگی برایت انجام داده است!

²¹-- Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for Jehovah doeth great things.

²² ای حیوانات صحرا هراسان نباشید، زیرا چراگاهها سرسبز می‌شوند و درختان میوه بار می‌آورند. میوهٔ انجیر و انگور فراوان می‌گردد.

²²Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring; for the tree beareth its fruit; the fig-tree and the vine yield full increase.

²³ «ای مردم صهیون، خوشحال باشید و از کارهای خداوند شادی نمایید! چون با فرستادن باران، عدالت خود را نشان می‌دهد. دوباره باران بهاری را در بهار و باران پاییزی را در پاییز خواهد بارانید.

²³And ye, children of Zion, be glad and rejoice in Jehovah your God; for he giveth you the early rain in due measure, and he causeth to come down for you the rain, the early rain, and the latter rain at the beginning [of the season].

²⁴ بار دیگر خرمنگاهها پُر از گندم و چرخشتها لبریز از روغن و شراب می‌گردند.»

²⁴And the floors shall be full of corn, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.

²⁵ خداوند می‌فرماید: «خساراتی را که سالهای پیش ملخها، آن لشکر عظیم و نابود کننده‌ای که من فرستادم بر شما وارد آوردند، جبران می‌کنم.

²⁵And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm, my great army which I sent among you.

²⁶ غذای فراوان می‌خورید و سیر می‌شوید و نام مرا که خداوند شما هستم به‌خاطر کارهای عجیبی که برای شما انجام داده‌ام، ستایش خواهید کرد. قوم من دیگر هرگز خوار نخواهد شد.

²⁶And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of Jehovah your God, who hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

²⁷ آنگاه شما ای قوم اسرائیل می‌دانید که من در بین شما می‌باشم و تنها من، خداوند، خدای شما هستم و شما که قوم من هستید دیگر هرگز شرمسار نخواهید شد.

²⁷And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I, Jehovah, [am] your God, and there is none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

²⁸ بعد از آن روح خود را بر همهٔ مردم خواهم ریخت. پسران و دختران شما نبوّت خواهند کرد. پیران شما خوابها و جوانان رؤیاها خواهند دید.

²⁸And it shall come to pass afterwards [that] I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.

²⁹ در آن روزها حتّی بر غلامان و کنیزان شما هم روح خود را خواهم ریخت.

²⁹Yea, even upon the bondmen and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my Spirit.

³⁰ «نشانه‌های حیرت‌انگیزی از خون، آتش و ستونهای دود، در آسمان و زمین ظاهر خواهم کرد.

³⁰And I will shew wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

³¹ قبل از آن که روز عظیم و وحشتناک خداوند فرارسد، آفتاب تاریک و ماه رنگ خون خواهد گرفت. هرکه نام خداوند را بخواند، نجات خواهد یافت. زیرا خداوند فرموده است که در اورشلیم عدّه‌ای جان سالم بدر می‌برند و کسانی‌که برگزیدهٔ او هستند باقی می‌مانند.»

³¹The sun shall be changed to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and terrible day of Jehovah come.

³² هرکه نام خداوند را بخواند، نجات خواهد یافت. زیرا خداوند فرموده است که در اورشلیم عدّه‌ای جان سالم بدر می‌برند و کسانی‌که برگزیدهٔ او هستند باقی می‌مانند.»

³²And it shall be that whosoever shall call upon the name of Jehovah shall be saved: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as Jehovah hath said, and for the residue whom Jehovah shall call.
