¹ بار دیگر کلام خداوند متعال بر من آمد و چنین فرمود:

¹And the word of Jehovah of hosts came [unto me], saying,

² «اورشلیم را بسیار دوست می‌دارم و به همین سبب از دشمنان آن خشمگین می‌باشم.

²Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great fury.

³ اکنون به اورشلیم به شهر مقدّس خود بازمی‌گردم و در آنجا ساکن می‌شوم و کوه صهیون و اورشلیم 'شهر وفادار' و کوه خداوند متعال 'کوه مقدّس' نامیده می‌شود.

³Thus saith Jehovah: I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and Jerusalem shall be called, The city of truth; and the mountain of Jehovah of hosts, The holy mountain.

⁴ بار دیگر مردان و زنان سالخورده‌ای که با عصا راه می‌روند پیاده می‌روند، در میدانهای شهر خواهند نشست.

⁴Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: There shall yet old men and old women sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each one with his staff in his hand for multitude of days.

⁵ و کوچه‌های شهر از پسران و دخترانی که سرگرم بازی هستند پُر می‌شوند.»

⁵And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.

⁶ خداوند متعال می‌فرماید: «این کار شاید برای بازماندگان قوم غیر ممکن باشد، امّا برای من بسیار آسان است.

⁶Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: If it be wonderful in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be wonderful in mine eyes? saith Jehovah of hosts.

⁷ من قوم خود را از شرق و غرب نجات می‌دهم

⁷Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country;

⁸ و به اورشلیم می‌آورم تا در آنجا ساکن شوند. آنها قوم من خواهند بود و من خدایشان خواهم بود و با راستی و عدالت بر آنها حکومت می‌کنم.»

⁸and I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.

⁹ خداوند متعال می‌فرماید: «اکنون با شوق و با دستان قوی شروع به کار کنید، زیرا شما همان سخنان تشویق کننده را می‌شنوید که انبیا هنگام بنیانگذاری معبد بزرگ گفته بودند.

⁹Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, that were in the day that the foundation of the house of Jehovah of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.

¹⁰ قبل از آن، کسی توان آن را نداشت که انسان یا حیوانی را برای کار خود اجیر کند. هیچ‌کسی از دست دشمنان در امان نبود زیرا من مردم را دشمن یکدیگر ساخته بودم،

¹⁰For before those days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; and there was no peace for him that went out or that came in, because of the distress: for I let loose all men, every one against his neighbour.

¹¹ امّا حالا رفتار من با بازماندگان قوم تفاوت دارد.

¹¹But now I will not be unto the remnant of this people as in the former days, saith Jehovah of hosts;

¹² بعد از این در همه‌جا صلح و امنیّت برقرار می‌شود. تاکها انگور به ‌بار می‌آورند، زمین محصول زیاد می‌دهد، از آسمان باران فراوان می‌بارد و من بازماندگان قوم را از هرگونه نعمت برخوردار می‌سازم.

¹²for the seed shall be prosperous, the vine shall give its fruit, and the ground shall give its produce, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these [things].

¹³ ای مردم یهودا و اسرائیل! در گذشته وقتی اقوام بیگانه کسی را نفرین می‌کردند، می‌گفتند: 'تو هم مثل مردم یهودا و اسرائیل به بلا گرفتار شوی!' ولی حالا آن‌طور نیست؛ من شما را نجات می‌دهم و از برکات خود بهره‌مند می‌سازم. بعد از این همان مردم می‌گویند: 'مانند مردم یهودا و اسرائیل برکت بیابی!' پس نترسید و با قدرت دست به کار شوید.»

¹³And it shall come to pass, like as ye were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear ye not, let your hands be strong.

¹⁴ خداوند متعال می‌فرماید: «وقتی اجداد شما مرا به خشم آوردند، تصمیم گرفتم که بلایی بر سرشان بیاورم و همان کار را هم کردم.

¹⁴For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Like as I thought to do you evil when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I repented not;

¹⁵ اینک، ای مردم یهودا و اسرائیل نترسید، زیرا می‌خواهم شما را برکت بدهم.

¹⁵so again have I thought in these days to do good unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not.

¹⁶ کارهایی که شما باید بکنید این است: راستگو و با انصاف باشید و با یکدیگر در صلح و صفا رفتار کنید. در دادگاهها از عدالت طرفداری کنید.

¹⁶These are the things that ye shall do: Speak truth every one with his neighbour; execute truth and the judgment of peace in your gates;

¹⁷ به دیگران آزار نرسانید و قسم دروغ نخورید، زیرا من از این کارها نفرت دارم.»

¹⁷and let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are [things] that I hate, saith Jehovah.

¹⁸ خداوند متعال دوباره به من فرمود:

¹⁸And the word of Jehovah of hosts came unto me, saying,

¹⁹ «روزهٔ ماههای چهارم، پنجم، هفتم و دهم، برای مردم یهودا و اسرائیل به جشن‌ها و روزهای شادمانی تبدیل می‌شوند. شما باید راستی و سلامتی را دوست بدارید.»

¹⁹Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: The fast of the fourth [month] and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful gatherings. Love ye then truth and peace.

²⁰ خداوند متعال می‌فرماید: «مردم از همه‌جا به اورشلیم رو می‌آورند

²⁰Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Yet again shall there come peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities;

²¹ و از یک شهر به شهر دیگر رفته می‌گویند: 'ما برای پرستش خداوند متعال می‌رویم، شما هم با ما بیایید تا به درگاه او دعا کنیم تا ما را برکت دهد.'

²¹and the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to supplicate Jehovah, and to seek Jehovah of hosts: I will go also.

²² مردم زیادی از ملل مقتدر جهان به اورشلیم برای عبادت می‌آیند و از خداوند متعال برکت می‌طلبند. در آن روزها ده نفر از مردمان بیگانه دست به دامن یک نفر یهودی شده می‌گویند: 'ما را هم با خود ببر، زیرا شنیده‌ایم که خدا با توست.'»

²²And many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek Jehovah of hosts in Jerusalem, and to supplicate Jehovah.

²³ در آن روزها ده نفر از مردمان بیگانه دست به دامن یک نفر یهودی شده می‌گویند: 'ما را هم با خود ببر، زیرا شنیده‌ایم که خدا با توست.'»

²³Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: In those days shall ten men take hold, out of all languages of the nations, shall even take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you; for we have heard [that] God is with you.
