¹ در روز اول ماه سوم از سال یازدهم تبعید ما، خداوند به من فرمود:

¹It happened in the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

² «ای انسان فانی، به فرعون و به مردم او بگو: «در بزرگیت به چه شباهت داری؟

²Son of man, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude: Whom are you like in your greatness?

³ تو چون درخت سروی در لبنان هستی! با شاخه‌های زیبای سایه‌گستر، درخت بلندی که به ابرها می‌رسد.

³Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with beautiful branches, and with a forest-like shade, and of high stature; and its top was among the thick boughs.

⁴ آبها آن را تغذیه می‌کردند و چشمه‌های عمیق آن را رشد می‌دادند تا بلند گردد. آنجا که کاشته شده بود، رودخانه‌ها جاری بودند و جویها به سوی همهٔ درختان جنگل روانه بودند.

⁴The waters nourished it, the deep made it to grow: its rivers ran all around its plantation; and it sent out its channels to all the trees of the field.

⁵ چون سیراب بود، از درختان دیگر بلندتر شد. شاخه‌های آن دراز و تنومند شدند.

⁵Therefore its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field; and its boughs were multiplied, and its branches became long by reason of many waters, when it shot them forth.

⁶ همهٔ پرندگان آسمان بر شاخه‌های آن آشیانه ساختند، زیر شاخه‌هایش همهٔ حیوانات صحرا بچّه ‌زاییدند و در سایه‌اش همهٔ ملّتهای بزرگ استراحت کردند.

⁶All the birds of the sky made their nests in its boughs; and under its branches all the animals of the field brought forth their young; and all great nations lived under its shadow.

⁷ چه درخت زیبایی بود، چه بالا بلند با شاخه‌های دراز، زیرا تا عمق آبهای روان ریشه دوانده بود.

⁷Thus was it beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches; for its root was by many waters.

⁸ هیچ درخت سروی در باغ خدا با آن قابل مقایسه نبود. هیچ درخت صنوبری هرگز چنان شاخه‌هایی نداشت و نه درختان دیگر چنان جوانه‌هایی. هیچ درختی در باغ خدا چنین زیبا نبود.

⁸The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it; the fir trees were not like its boughs, and the plane trees were not as its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like it in its beauty.

⁹ من آن را با شاخه‌های گسترده زیبا کردم. او مورد رَشک همهٔ درختان در عدن، باغ خدا بود.

⁹I made it beautiful by the multitude of its branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it.

¹⁰ «پس من، خداوند متعال می‌گویم که برای درختی که رشد کرد و به ابرها رسید چه رخ خواهد داد؛ هرچه بلندتر شد مغرورتر گردید.

¹⁰Therefore thus said the Lord Yahweh: Because you are exalted in stature, and he has set his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;

¹¹ پس من او را از خود رانده به دست قویترین پادشاه جهان تسلیم می‌کنم تا او را به سزای کارهای زشتش برساند.

¹¹I will even deliver him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations; he shall surely deal with him; I have driven him out for his wickedness.

¹² بیگانگان بی‌رحم آن را قطع و رها خواهند کرد. شاخ و برگش شکسته‌اش در کوه و درّهٔ کشور خواهد افتاد. همهٔ ملّتهایی که در سایه‌اش استراحت می‌کردند، خواهند رفت.

¹²Strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: on the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the watercourses of the land; and all the peoples of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.

¹³ بر تنهٔ افتاده آن، همهٔ پرندگان آسمان آشیانه گزیدند و در میان شاخه‌هایش همهٔ حیوانات وحشی لانه کردند.

¹³On his ruin all the birds of the sky shall dwell, and all the animals of the field shall be on his branches;

¹⁴ بنابراین دیگر هیچ درختی هرقدر هم که سیراب باشد، آن‌قدر بلند نمی‌شود که از ابرها بگذرد. همهٔ آنها چون انسان فانی محکوم به مرگ هستند، محکوم به پیوستن به کسانی‌که به دنیای مردگان می‌روند.»

¹⁴to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, neither set their top among the thick boughs, nor that their mighty ones stand up on their height, even all who drink water: for they are all delivered to death, to the lower parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with those who go down to the pit.

¹⁵ خداوند متعال چنین می‌فرماید: «در روزی که درخت به دنیای مردگان نزول کند، به نشانهٔ سوگواری با آبهای زیر زمینی آن را می‌پوشانم. رودخانه‌ها را از جریان باز می‌دارم و بسیاری از جویبارها جاری نخواهند شد. زیرا درخت مرده است، کوههای لبنان را با تاریکی خواهم پوشاند و همهٔ درختان جنگل را پژمرده خواهم کرد.

¹⁵Thus says the Lord Yahweh: In the day when he went down to Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained its rivers; and the great waters were stayed; and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.

¹⁶ هنگامی‌که آن را به دنیای مردگان بفرستم، آواز فرو افتادنش ملّتها را به لرزه خواهد انداخت. تمام درختان عدن و نیکوترین درختان سیراب لبنان که به دنیای پایین رفته بودند، از سرنگونی آن خشنود می‌گردند.

¹⁶I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. with those who descend into the pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the lower parts of the earth.

¹⁷ آنها نیز با آن به دنیای مردگان فرو خواهد رفت، نزد کسانی‌که با شمشیر کشته شدند، کسانی‌که در میان اقوام در سایه‌اش زیست می‌کردند نابود خواهند شد. «کدام‌یک از درختان باغ عدن در شکوه و جلال مانند تو بود؟ اکنون تو همراه درختان عدن به دنیای مردگان خواهی رفت و در میان نامختونان و کسانی‌که با شمشیر کشته شدند، خواهی افتاد. این فرعون و مردم او هستند.» خداوند متعال چنین می‌فرماید.

¹⁷They also went down into Sheol with him to those who are slain by the sword; yes, those who were his arm, that lived under his shadow in the midst of the nations.

¹⁸ «کدام‌یک از درختان باغ عدن در شکوه و جلال مانند تو بود؟ اکنون تو همراه درختان عدن به دنیای مردگان خواهی رفت و در میان نامختونان و کسانی‌که با شمشیر کشته شدند، خواهی افتاد. این فرعون و مردم او هستند.» خداوند متعال چنین می‌فرماید.

¹⁸To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the lower parts of the earth: you shall lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the Lord Yahweh.
