¹ به این ترتیب عیسی و شاگردانش به طرف دیگر دریا، به سرزمین جَدَریان رفتند.

¹They came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

² همین‌که عیسی قدم به خشكی گذاشت، مردی كه گرفتار روح پلید بود، از گورستان بیرون آمده، پیش او رفت.

²When he had come out of the boat, immediately a man with an unclean spirit met him out of the tombs.

³ او در گورستان زندگی می‌کرد و هیچ‌کس نمی‌توانست او را حتّی با زنجیر در بند نگه دارد.

³He lived in the tombs. Nobody could bind him any more, not even with chains,

⁴ بارها او را با كُنده و زنجیر بسته بودند، امّا زنجیرها را پاره كرده و کُنده‌ها را شكسته بود و هیچ‌کس نمی‌توانست او را آرام كند.

⁴because he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been torn apart by him, and the fetters broken in pieces. Nobody had the strength to tame him.

⁵ او شب و روز در گورستان و روی تپّه‌ها آواره بود و دایماً فریاد می‌کشید و خود را با سنگ مجروح می‌ساخت.

⁵Always, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself with stones.

⁶ وقتی عیسی را از دور دید، دوید و در برابر او سجده كرد

⁶When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and bowed down to him,

⁷ و با صدای بلند فریاد زد: «ای عیسی، پسر خدای متعال، با من چه‌کار داری؟ تو را به خدا مرا عذاب نده.»

⁷and crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, don’t torment me.”

⁸ زیرا عیسی به او گفته بود: «ای روح پلید از این مرد بیرون بیا.»

⁸For he said to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!”

⁹ عیسی از او پرسید: «اسم تو چیست؟» او گفت: «اسم من سپاه است، چون ما عدّهٔ زیادی هستیم.»

⁹He asked him, “What is your name?” He said to him, “My name is Legion, for we are many.”

¹⁰ و بسیار التماس كرد، كه عیسی آنها را از آن سرزمین بیرون نكند.

¹⁰He begged him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

¹¹ در این موقع یک گلّهٔ بزرگ خوک در آنجا بود كه روی تپّه‌ها می‌چریدند.

¹¹Now on the mountainside there was a great herd of pigs feeding.

¹² ارواح به او التماس كرده گفتند: «ما را به میان خوکها بفرست تا به آنها وارد شویم.»

¹²All the demons begged him, saying, “Send us into the pigs, that we may enter into them.”

¹³ عیسی به آنها اجازه داد و ارواح پلید بیرون آمدند و در خوکها وارد شدند و گلّه‌ای كه تقریباً دو هزار خوک بود با سرعت از سراشیبی به طرف دریا دویدند و در دریا غرق شدند.

¹³At once Jesus gave them permission. The unclean spirits came out and entered into the pigs. The herd of about two thousand rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and they were drowned in the sea.

¹⁴ خوک‌بانان فرار كردند و این خبر را در شهر و حومه‌های اطراف پخش كردند. مردم از شهر بیرون رفتند تا آنچه را كه اتّفاق افتاده بود، ببینند.

¹⁴Those who fed them fled, and told it in the city and in the country. The people came to see what it was that had happened.

¹⁵ وقتی آنها پیش عیسی آمدند و آن دیوانه را كه گرفتار گروهی از ارواح پلید بود دیدند، كه لباس پوشیده و با عقل سالم در آنجا نشسته است، بسیار هراسان شدند.

¹⁵They came to Jesus, and saw him who had been possessed by demons sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, even him who had the legion; and they were afraid.

¹⁶ کسانی‌که شاهد ماجرا بودند، آنچه را كه برای مرد دیوانه و خوکها اتّفاق افتاده بود، برای مردم تعریف كردند.

¹⁶Those who saw it declared to them how it happened to him who was possessed by demons, and about the pigs.

¹⁷ پس مردم از عیسی خواهش كردند از سرزمین آنها بیرون برود.

¹⁷They began to beg him to depart from their region.

¹⁸ وقتی عیسی می‌‌خواست سوار قایق بشود، مردی كه قبلاً دیوانه بود، از عیسی خواهش كرد كه به وی اجازه دهد همراه او برود.

¹⁸As he was entering into the boat, he who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him.

¹⁹ امّا عیسی به او اجازه نداد بلكه فرمود: «به منزل خود پیش خانواده‌ات برو و آنها را از آنچه خداوند از راه لطف خود برای تو كرده است، آگاه كن.»

¹⁹He didn’t allow him, but said to him, “Go to your house, to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how he had mercy on you.”

²⁰ آن مرد رفت و آنچه را عیسی برایش انجام داده بود، در سرزمین دكاپولس منتشر كرد و همهٔ مردم تعجّب می‌کردند.

²⁰He went his way, and began to proclaim in Decapolis how Jesus had done great things for him, and everyone marveled.

²¹ وقتی عیسی دوباره به طرف دیگر دریا رفت، جمعیّت فراوانی در كنار دریا دور او جمع شدند.

²¹When Jesus had crossed back over in the boat to the other side, a great multitude was gathered to him; and he was by the sea.

²² یائیروس سرپرست كنیسهٔ آن محل آمد و وقتی او را دید، در مقابل او سجده كرد

²²Behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, came; and seeing him, he fell at his feet,

²³ و با التماس زیاد به او گفت: «دخترم در حال مرگ است. خواهش می‌کنم بیا و دست خود را روی او بگذار تا خوب شود و زنده بماند.»

²³and begged him much, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Please come and lay your hands on her, that she may be made healthy, and live.”

²⁴ عیسی با او رفت، جمعیّت فراوانی نیز به دنبال او رفتند. مردم از همه طرف به او هجوم می‌آوردند.

²⁴He went with him, and a great multitude followed him, and they pressed upon him on all sides.

²⁵ در میان آنها زنی بود، كه مدّت دوازده سال مبتلا به خونریزی بود.

²⁵A certain woman, who had an issue of blood for twelve years,

²⁶ او متحمّل رنجهای زیادی از دست طبیبان بسیاری شده و با وجودی‌كه تمام دارایی خود را در این راه صرف كرده بود، نه تنها هیچ نتیجه‌ای نگرفته بود، بلكه هر روز بدتر می‌شد.

²⁶and had suffered many things by many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better, but rather grew worse,

²⁷ او دربارهٔ عیسی چیزهایی شنیده بود و به همین دلیل از میان جمعیّت گذشت و پشت سر عیسی ایستاد.

²⁷having heard the things concerning Jesus, came up behind him in the crowd, and touched his clothes.

²⁸ او با خود گفت: «حتّی اگر دست خود را به لباسهای او بزنم، خوب خواهم شد.»

²⁸For she said, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be made well.”

²⁹ پس لباس او را لمس كرد و خونریزی او فوراً قطع شد و در وجود خود احساس كرد، كه دردش درمان یافته است.

²⁹Immediately the flow of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.

³⁰ در همان وقت عیسی پی برد كه، قوّتی از او صادر شده است. به جمعیّت نگاهی كرد و پرسید: «چه کسی لباس مرا لمس كرد؟»

³⁰Immediately Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd, and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”

³¹ شاگردانش به او گفتند: «می‌بینی كه جمعیّت زیادی به تو فشار می‌آورند پس چرا می‌پرسی چه کسی لباس مرا لمس كرد؟»

³¹His disciples said to him, “You see the multitude pressing against you, and you say, ‘Who touched me?’”

³² عیسی به اطراف نگاه می‌کرد تا ببیند چه کسی این كار را كرده است.

³²He looked around to see her who had done this thing.

³³ امّا آن زن كه درک كرده بود شفا یافته است، با ترس و لرز در برابر عیسی به خاک افتاد و تمام حقیقت را بیان كرد.

³³But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

³⁴ عیسی به او فرمود: «دخترم، ایمانت تو را شفا داده است، بسلامت برو و برای همیشه از این بلا خلاص شو.»

³⁴He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be cured of your disease.”

³⁵ هنوز صحبت عیسی تمام نشده بود، كه قاصدانی از خانهٔ سرپرست كنیسه آمدند و گفتند: «دخترت مرده است. دیگر چرا استاد را زحمت می‌دهی؟»

³⁵While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue ruler’s house saying, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher any more?”

³⁶ امّا عیسی به سخنان آنها توجّهی نكرد و به سرپرست كنیسه فرمود: «نترس، فقط ایمان داشته باش.»

³⁶But Jesus, when he heard the message spoken, immediately said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Don’t be afraid, only believe.”

³⁷ او به كسی جز پطرس و یعقوب و برادرش یوحنا اجازه نداد كه به دنبال او برود.

³⁷He allowed no one to follow him, except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.

³⁸ وقتی آنان به خانهٔ سرپرست كنیسه رسیدند، جمعیّت آشفته‌ای را دیدند كه با صدای بلند گریه و شیون می‌کردند.

³⁸He came to the synagogue ruler’s house, and he saw an uproar, weeping, and great wailing.

³⁹ عیسی وارد منزل شد و به آنها فرمود: «چرا شلوغ کرده‌اید؟ برای چه گریه می‌کنید؟ دختر نمرده است بلكه در خواب است.»

³⁹When he had entered in, he said to them, “Why do you make an uproar and weep? The child is not dead, but is asleep.”

⁴⁰ امّا آنها به او خندیدند. عیسی همه را از خانه بیرون كرد و پدر و مادر و سه شاگرد خود را به جایی‌که دختر بود، برد.

⁴⁰They ridiculed him. But he, having put them all out, took the father of the child, her mother, and those who were with him, and went in where the child was lying.

⁴¹ و دست دختر را گرفت و فرمود: «طلیتا قومی.» یعنی «ای دختر، به تو می‌گویم برخیز.»

⁴¹Taking the child by the hand, he said to her, “Talitha cumi!” which means, being interpreted, “Girl, I tell you, get up!”

⁴² فوراً آن دختر برخاست و مشغول راه رفتن شد. (او دوازده ساله بود.) آنها از این كار مات و مبهوت ماندند امّا عیسی با تأكید به آنها امر كرد كه این موضوع را به كسی نگویند و از آنها خواست كه به دختر خوراک بدهند.

⁴²Immediately the girl rose up and walked, for she was twelve years old. They were amazed with great amazement.

⁴³ امّا عیسی با تأكید به آنها امر كرد كه این موضوع را به كسی نگویند و از آنها خواست كه به دختر خوراک بدهند.

⁴³He strictly ordered them that no one should know this, and commanded that something should be given to her to eat.
