¹ فریسیان و بعضی از علما كه از اورشلیم آمده بودند، دور عیسی جمع شدند.

¹Then the Pharisees, and some of the scribes gathered together to him, having come from Jerusalem.

² آنها دیدند كه بعضی از شاگردان او با دستهای نشسته و به اصطلاح «ناپاک» غذا می‌خورند.

²Now when they saw some of his disciples eating bread with defiled, that is, unwashed, hands, they found fault.

³ یهودیان و مخصوصاً فریسیان تا طبق سنّتهای گذشته، دستهای خود را به طرز مخصوصی نمی‌شستند، غذا نمی‌خوردند.

³(For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, don’t eat unless they wash their hands and forearms, holding to the tradition of the elders.

⁴ وقتی از بازار می‌آمدند تا خود را نمی‌شستند، چیزی نمی‌خوردند و بسیاری از رسوم دیگر مانند شستن پیاله‌‌ها و دیگها و كاسه‌های مسی را رعایت می‌کردند.

⁴They don’t eat when they come from the marketplace, unless they bathe themselves, and there are many other things, which they have received to hold to: washings of cups, pitchers, bronze vessels, and couches.)

⁵ پس فریسیان و علما از او پرسیدند: «چرا شاگردان تو سنّتهای گذشته را رعایت نمی‌کنند، بلكه با دستهای ناپاک غذا می‌خورند؟»

⁵The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why don’t your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?”

⁶ عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «اشعیا دربارهٔ شما ریاكاران، چقدر درست پیشگویی نمود وقتی گفت: 'این مردم مرا با زبان عبادت می‌کنند امّا دلهایشان از من دور است.

⁶He answered them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

⁷ عبادت آنها بیهوده است، چون راه و رسوم انسانی را به جای احکام الهی تعلیم می‌دهند.'

⁷ But in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ Isaiah 29:13

⁸ «شما احكام خدا را كنار گذاشته و به سنّتهای بشری چسبیده‌اید.»

⁸ “For you set aside the commandment of God, and hold tightly to the tradition of men—the washing of pitchers and cups, and you do many other such things.”

⁹ عیسی همچنین به ایشان فرمود: «شما احكام خدا را با زرنگی كنار می‌گذارید تا رسوم خود را بجا آورید.

⁹He said to them, “Full well do you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.

¹⁰ مثلاً موسی فرمود: پدر و مادر خود را احترام كن و هرکه به پدر و یا مادر خود، نا‌سزا بگوید سزاوار مرگ است.

¹⁰ For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother;’ Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16 and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’ Exodus 21:17; Leviticus 20:9

¹¹ امّا شما می‌گویید: اگر كسی به پدر و یا مادر خود بگوید كه هرچه باید برای كمک به شما بدهم وقف كار خدا کرده‌ام،

¹¹ But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban Corban is a Hebrew word for an offering devoted to God. , that is to say, given to God”;’

¹² دیگر اجازه نمی‌دهید كه برای پدر و یا مادر خود كاری كند.

¹² then you no longer allow him to do anything for his father or his mother,

¹³ به این ترتیب با انجام رسوم و سنّتهایی كه به شما رسیده است، كلام خدا را خنثی می‌نمایید. شما از این قبیل كارها زیاد می‌کنید.»

¹³ making void the word of God by your tradition, which you have handed down. You do many things like this.”

¹⁴ عیسی بار دیگر مردم را پیش خود خواند و به آنها فرمود: «همه به من گوش بدهید و این را بفهمید:

¹⁴He called all the multitude to himself, and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand.

¹⁵ چیزی نیست كه از خارج وارد وجود انسان شود و او را ناپاک سازد. آنچه آدمی را ناپاک می‌کند چیزهایی است كه از وجود او صادر می‌شود. [

¹⁵ There is nothing from outside of the man, that going into him can defile him; but the things which proceed out of the man are those that defile the man.

¹⁶ هرکس گوش شنوا دارد، بشنود.]»

¹⁶ If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!”

¹⁷ وقتی عیسی از پیش مردم به خانه رفت، شاگردان دربارهٔ این مَثَل از او سؤال كردند

¹⁷When he had entered into a house away from the multitude, his disciples asked him about the parable.

¹⁸ به ایشان فرمود: «آیا شما هم مثل دیگران كودن هستید؟ آیا نمی‌دانید هرچیزی كه از خارج وارد وجود انسان شود، نمی‌تواند او را ناپاک سازد؟

¹⁸He said to them, “Are you thus without understanding also? Don’t you perceive that whatever goes into the man from outside can’t defile him,

¹⁹ چون به قلب او وارد نمی‌شود، بلكه داخل معده‌اش می‌شود و از آنجا به مزبله می‌ریزد.» به این ترتیب عیسی تمام غذاها را پاک اعلام كرد.

¹⁹ because it doesn’t go into his heart, but into his stomach, then into the latrine, thus purifying all foods or, making all foods clean ?”

²⁰ عیسی به سخن خود ادامه داده گفت: «آنچه كه آدمی را ناپاک می‌سازد، چیزی است كه از وجود او صادر می‌شود.

²⁰He said, “That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man.

²¹ چون افكار بد، از دل بیرون می‌آید یعنی فسق، دزدی، آدمكشی،

²¹ For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts,

²² زنا، طمع، خباثت، فریب، هرزگی، حسادت، تهمت خودبینی و حماقت،

²² covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness.

²³ اینها همه از درون بیرون می‌آیند و انسان را ناپاک می‌سازند.»

²³ All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”

²⁴ بعد از آن عیسی از آنجا به راه افتاد و به سرزمین صور رفته، به خانه‌ای وارد شد و نمی‌خواست كسی بفهمد كه او در آنجاست، امّا نتوانست پنهان بماند.

²⁴From there he arose, and went away into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. He entered into a house, and didn’t want anyone to know it, but he couldn’t escape notice.

²⁵ فوراً زنی كه دخترش گرفتار روح پلید بود، از بودن او در آنجا اطّلاع یافت و آمده جلوی پای عیسی سجده كرد.

²⁵For a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having heard of him, came and fell down at his feet.

²⁶ او كه زنی یونانی و از اهالی فینیقیه سوریه بود، از عیسی خواهش كرد كه دیو را از دخترش بیرون كند.

²⁶Now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by race. She begged him that he would cast the demon out of her daughter.

²⁷ عیسی به او فرمود: «بگذار اول فرزندان سیر شوند، درست نیست نان فرزندان را گرفته و پیش سگها بیندازیم.»

²⁷But Jesus said to her, “Let the children be filled first, for it is not appropriate to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”

²⁸ زن جواب داد: «ای آقا درست است، امّا سگهای خانه نیز از خورده ریزه‌های خوراک فرزندان می‌خورند.»

²⁸But she answered him, “Yes, Lord. Yet even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”

²⁹ عیسی به او فرمود: «برو، به‌خاطر این جواب، دیو از دخترت بیرون رفته است.»

²⁹He said to her, “For this saying, go your way. The demon has gone out of your daughter.”

³⁰ وقتی زن به خانه برگشت، دید كه دخترش روی تخت خوابیده و دیو او را رها كرده است.

³⁰She went away to her house, and found the child having been laid on the bed, with the demon gone out.

³¹ عیسی از سرزمین صور برگشت و از راه صیدون و دكاپولس به دریای جلیل آمد.

³¹Again he departed from the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and came to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the region of Decapolis.

³² در آنجا مردی را پیش او آوردند كه كر بود و زبانش لكنت داشت. از او درخواست كردند كه دست خود را روی آن مرد بگذارد.

³²They brought to him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech. They begged him to lay his hand on him.

³³ عیسی آن مرد را دور از جمعیّت، به كناری برد و انگشتان خود را در گوشهای او گذاشت و آب دهان انداخته، زبانش را لمس نمود.

³³He took him aside from the multitude, privately, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat, and touched his tongue.

³⁴ بعد به آسمان نگاه كرده آهی كشید و گفت: «افتح» یعنی «باز شو.»

³⁴Looking up to heaven, he sighed, and said to him, “Ephphatha!” that is, “Be opened!”

³⁵ فوراً گوشهای آن مرد باز شد و لكنت زبانش از بین رفت و خوب حرف می‌زد.

³⁵Immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was released, and he spoke clearly.

³⁶ عیسی به آنان دستور داد كه به كسی چیزی نگویند. امّا هرچه او بیشتر ایشان را از این كار باز می‌داشت آنها بیشتر آن را پخش می‌کردند. مردم كه بی‌اندازه متحیّر شده بودند، می‌گفتند: «او همهٔ كارها را به خوبی انجام داده است، كرها را شنوا و لالها را گویا می‌کند.»

³⁶He commanded them that they should tell no one, but the more he commanded them, so much the more widely they proclaimed it.

³⁷ مردم كه بی‌اندازه متحیّر شده بودند، می‌گفتند: «او همهٔ كارها را به خوبی انجام داده است، كرها را شنوا و لالها را گویا می‌کند.»

³⁷They were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He makes even the deaf hear, and the mute speak!”
