¹În vremea aceea, s'a îmbolnăvit Abiia, fiul lui Ieroboam.

¹At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.

²Şi Ieroboam a zis nevestei sale: ,,Scoală-te, te rog, şi schimbă-ţi hainele, ca să nu se ştie că eşti nevasta lui Ieroboam, şi du-te la Silo. Iată că acolo este Ahia, proorocul; el mi -a spus că voi fi împăratul poporului acestuia.

²Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please get up and disguise yourself, that you won’t be recognized as the wife of Jeroboam. Go to Shiloh. Behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, who spoke concerning me that I should be king over this people.

³Ia cu tine zece pîni, turte, şi un vas cu miere, şi intră la el: el îţi va spune ce va fi cu copilul.``

³Take with you ten loaves, and cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will become of the child.”

⁴Nevasta lui Ieroboam a făcut aşa; s'a sculat, s'a dus la Silo, şi a intrat în casa lui Ahia. Ahia nu mai putea să vadă, căci ochii i se întunecaseră de bătrîneţă.

⁴Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

⁵Domnul spusese lui Ahia: ,,Nevasta lui Ieroboam are să vină să te întrebe de fiul ei, pentrucă este bolnav. Să vorbeşti aşa şi aşa. Ea cînd va veni, se va da drept alta.``

⁵Yahweh said to Ahijah, “Behold, the wife of Jeroboam comes to inquire of you concerning her son; for he is sick. Thus and thus you shall tell her; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”

⁶Cînd a auzit Ahia vuietul paşilor ei, în clipa cînd intra pe uşă, a zis: ,,Intră, nevasta lui Ieroboam; pentruce vrei să te dai drept alta? Sînt însărcinat să-ţi vestesc lucruri aspre.

⁶It was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, “Come in, you wife of Jeroboam! Why do you pretend to be another? For I am sent to you with heavy news.

⁷Du-te, şi spune lui Ieroboam: ,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel: ,Te-am ridicat din mijlocul poporului, te-am pus căpetenie peste poporul Meu Israel,

⁷Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel: “Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel,

⁸am rupt împărăţia dela casa lui David, şi ţi-am dat -o ţie, şi n'ai fost ca robul Meu David, care a păzit poruncile Mele şi a umblat după Mine din toată inima lui, nefăcînd decît ce este drept înaintea Mea.

⁸and tore the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it you; and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in my eyes,

⁹Tu ai făcut mai rău decît toţi ceice au fost înaintea ta: te-ai dus să-ţi faci alţi dumnezei şi chipuri turnate ca să Mă mînii, şi M'ai lepădat înapoia ta!

⁹but have done evil above all who were before you, and have gone and made you other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have cast me behind your back:

¹⁰De aceea, voi trimete nenorocirea peste casa lui Ieroboam, voi nimici pe oricine este al lui Ieroboam, fie rob, fie slobod în Israel, şi voi mătura casa lui Ieroboam, cum se mătură murdăriile, pînă va peri.

¹⁰therefore, behold, I will bring evil on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone who urinates on a wall, or, male he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung, until it is all gone.

¹¹Cel ce va muri în cetate din casa lui Ieroboam, va fi mîncat de cîni, şi cel ce va muri pe cîmp va fi mîncat de păsările cerului. Căci Domnul a vorbit.

¹¹He who dies of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and he who dies in the field shall the birds of the sky eat: for Yahweh has spoken it.”’

¹²Tu, scoală-te şi du-te acasă. Şi cum îţi vor păşi picioarele în cetate, copilul va muri.

¹²Arise therefore, and go to your house. When your feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

¹³Tot Israelul îl va plînge, şi -l vor îngropa; căci el este singurul din casa lui Ieroboam care va fi pus într'un mormînt, pentrucă este singurul din casa lui Ieroboam în care s'a găsit ceva bun înaintea Domnului, Dumnezeului lui Israel.

¹³All Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Yahweh, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

¹⁴Domnul va pune peste Israel un împărat, care va nimici casa lui Ieroboam în ziua aceea. Şi nu se întîmplă oare chiar acum lucrul acesta?

¹⁴Moreover Yahweh will raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is day! What? Even now.

¹⁵Domnul va lovi pe Israel, şi Israel va fi ca trestia clătinată în ape; va smulge pe Israel din această ţară bună pe care o dăduse părinţilor lor, şi -i va împrăştia dincolo de Rîu, pentrucă şi-au făcut idoli, mîniind pe Domnul.

¹⁵For Yahweh will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherim, provoking Yahweh to anger.

¹⁶Va părăsi pe Israel, din pricina păcatelor pe cari le -a făcut Ieroboam şi în cari a tîrît şi pe Israel.``

¹⁶He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Israel to sin.”

¹⁷Nevasta lui Ieroboam s'a sculat, şi a plecat. A ajuns la Tirţa; şi cum a atins pragul casei, copilul a murit.

¹⁷Jeroboam’s wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah. As she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.

¹⁸L-au îngropat, şi tot Israelul l -a plîns, după cuvîntul Domnului, pe care -l spusese prin robul Său Ahia, proorocul.

¹⁸All Israel buried him, and mourned for him, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the prophet.

¹⁹Celelalte fapte ale lui Ieroboam, cum a făcut război şi cum a domnit, sînt scrise în cartea Cronicilor împăraţilor lui Israel.

¹⁹The rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

²⁰Ieroboam a împărăţit douăzeci şi doi de ani; apoi a adormit cu părinţii săi. Şi în locul lui a împărăţit fiul său Nadab.

²⁰The days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his place.

²¹Roboam, fiul lui Solomon, a împărăţit peste Iuda. Avea patruzeci şi unu de ani cînd s'a făcut împărat, şi a împărăţit şaptesprezece ani la Ierusalim, cetatea pe care o alesese Domnul din toate seminţiile lui Israel, ca să-Şi pună Numele în ea. Mamă-sa se chema Naama, Amonita.

²¹Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

²²Iuda a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului; şi, prin păcatele pe cari le-au săvîrşit, I-au stîrnit gelozia mai mult decît părinţii lor.

²²Judah did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done.

²³Şi-au zidit şi ei înălţimi cu stîlpi închinaţi idolilor şi Astartee pe orice deal înalt şi supt orice copac verde.

²³For they also built them high places, and pillars, and Asherim, on every high hill, and under every green tree;

²⁴Au fost chiar şi sodomiţi în ţară. Au făcut de toate urîciunele neamurilor pe cari le izgonise Domnul dinaintea copiilor lui Israel.

²⁴and there were also sodomites in the land: they did according to all the abominations of the nations which Yahweh drove out before the children of Israel.

²⁵În al cincilea an al împărăţirii lui Roboam, Şişac, împăratul Egiptului, s'a suit împotriva Ierusalimului.

²⁵It happened in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem;

²⁶A luat vistieriile Casei Domnului şi vistieriile casei împăratului, a luat tot. A luat toate scuturile de aur pe cari le făcuse Solomon.

²⁶and he took away the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king’s house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

²⁷Împăratul Roboam a făcut în locul lor nişte scuturi de aramă, şi le -a dat în grija căpeteniilor alergătorilor, cari păzeau intrarea casei împăratului.

²⁷King Rehoboam made in their place shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.

²⁸Oridecîte ori se ducea împăratul la Casa Domnului, alergătorii le purtau; apoi le aduceau iarăş în odaia alergătorilor.

²⁸It was so, that as often as the king went into the house of Yahweh, the guard bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.

²⁹Celelalte fapte ale lui Roboam, şi tot ce a făcut el, nu sînt scrise oare în cartea Cronicilor împăraţilor lui Iuda?

²⁹Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

³⁰Totdeauna a fost război între Roboam şi Ieroboam.

³⁰There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

³¹Roboam a adormit cu părinţii lui, şi a fost îngropat cu părinţii lui în cetatea lui David. Mamă-sa se numea Naama, Amonita. Şi în locul lui a împărăţit fiul său Abiam.

³¹Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and his mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess. Abijam his son reigned in his place.
