¹David said, “Is there yet any who is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

²Era un slujitor din casa lui Saul, numit Ţiba, pe care l-au adus la David. Împăratul i -a zis: ,,Tu eşti Ţiba?`` Şi el a răspuns: ,,Robul tău, da!``

²There was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba, and they called him to David; and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?” He said, “Your servant is he.”

³Împăratul a zis: ,,Nu mai este nimeni din casa lui Saul, ca să mă port cu el cu o bunătate ca bunătatea lui Dumnezeu?`` Şi Ţiba a răspuns împăratului: ,,Mai este un fiu al lui Ionatan, olog de picioare``.

³The king said, “Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may show the kindness of God to him?” Ziba said to the king, “Jonathan has yet a son, who is lame of his feet.”

⁴Împăratul a zis: ,,Unde este?`` Şi Ţiba a răspuns împăratului: ,,Este în casa lui Machir fiul lui Amiel, la Lodebar``.

⁴The king said to him, “Where is he?” Ziba said to the king, “Behold, he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo Debar.”

⁵Împăratul David l -a trimes să -l ia din casa lui Machir, fiul lui Amiel, din Lodebar.

⁵Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.

⁶Şi Mefiboşet, fiul lui Ionatan, fiul lui Saul, a venit la David, a căzut cu faţa la pămînt, şi s'a închinat. David a zis: ,,Mefiboşet!`` Şi el a răspuns: ,,Iată robul tău!``

⁶Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, and fell on his face, and showed respect. David said, “Mephibosheth.” He answered, “Behold, your servant!”

⁷David i -a zis: ,,Nu te teme, căci vreau să-ţi fac bine din pricina tatălui tău Ionatan. Îţi voi da înapoi toate pămînturile tatălui tău Saul, şi vei mînca totdeauna la masa mea``.

⁷David said to him, “Don’t be afraid of him; for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your father. You shall eat bread at my table continually.”

⁸El s'a închinat, şi a zis: ,,Cine este robul tău, ca să te uiţi la un cîne mort ca mine?``

⁸He bowed down, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look on such a dead dog as I am?”

⁹Împăratul a chemat pe Ţiba, slujbaşul lui Saul, şi i -a zis: ,,Dau fiului stăpînului tău tot ce era al lui Saul şi tot ce avea toată casa lui.

⁹Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, “All that pertained to Saul and to all his house have I given to your master’s son.

¹⁰Tu să lucrezi pămînturile pentru el, tu, fiii tăi, şi robii tăi, şi să strîngi rodurile, ca fiul stăpînului tău să aibă pîne de mîncare; şi Mefiboşet, fiul stăpînului tău, va mînca totdeauna la masa mea``. Şi Ţiba avea cincisprezece fii şi douăzeci de robi.

¹⁰You shall till the land for him, you, and your sons, and your servants; and you shall bring in the harvest, that your master’s son may have bread to eat: but Mephibosheth your master’s son shall eat bread always at my table.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

¹¹El a zis împăratului: ,,Robul tău va face tot ce porunceşte împăratul, domnul meu, robului său``. Şi Mefiboşet a mîncat la masa lui David, ca unul din fiii împăratului.

¹¹Then Ziba said to the king, “According to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so your shall servant do.” So Mephibosheth ate at the king’s table, like one of the king’s sons.

¹²Mefiboşet avea un fiu mic, numit Mica, şi toţi ceice locuiau în casa lui Ţiba erau robii lui Mefiboşet.

¹²Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. All that lived in the house of Ziba were servants to Mephibosheth.

¹³Mefiboşet locuia la Ierusalim, căci mînca totdeauna la masa împăratului. El era olog de amîndouă picioarele.

¹³So Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem; for he ate continually at the king’s table. He was lame in both his feet.
