1Ascultaţi cuvîntul acesta, cîntecul acesta de jale, pe care -l fac pentru voi, casa lui Israel!
1Listen to this word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O house of Israel.
2,,A căzut şi nu se va mai scula, fecioara lui Israel; stă trîntită la pămînt, şi nimeni n'o ridică.
2“The virgin of Israel has fallen; She shall rise no more. She is cast down on her land; there is no one to raise her up.”
3Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul Dumnezeu: cetatea care scotea la luptă o mie de oameni, nu va rămînea decît cu o sută, şi cea care scotea o sută de oameni, nu va mai rămînea decît cu zece, din casa lui Israel.``
3For thus says the Lord Yahweh: “The city that went forth a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went forth one hundred shall have ten left to the house of Israel.”
4Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul către casa lui Israel: ,,Căutaţi-Mă, şi veţi trăi!
4For thus says Yahweh to the house of Israel: “Seek me, and you will live;
5Nu căutaţi Betelul, nu vă duceţi la Ghilgal, şi nu treceţi la Beer-Şeba. Căci Ghilgalul va fi dus în robie, şi Betelul va fi nimicit.
5but don’t seek Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and don’t pass to Beersheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nothing.
6Căutaţi pe Domnul, şi veţi trăi! Temeţi-vă ca nu cumva să apuce ca un foc casa lui Iosif, şi focul acesta s'o mistuie, fără să fie cineva la Betel ca să -l stingă,
6Seek Yahweh, and you will live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour, and there be no one to quench it in Bethel.
7voi cari prefaceţi dreptul în pelin, şi călcaţi dreptatea în picioare!
7You who turn justice to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth:
8El a făcut Cloşca cu pui şi Orionul, El preface întunerecul în zori, iar ziua în noapte neagră; El cheamă apele mării, şi le varsă pe faţa pămîntului: Domnul este Numele Lui.
8seek him who made the Pleiades and Orion, and turns the shadow of death into the morning, and makes the day dark with night; who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the surface of the earth, Yahweh is his name,
9El aduce ca fulgerul prăpădul peste cei puternici, aşa că nimicirea vine peste cetăţui.``
9who brings sudden destruction on the strong, so that destruction comes on the fortress.
10Ei urăsc pe cel ce -i mustră la poarta cetăţii, şi le este scîrbă de cel ce vorbeşte din inimă.
10They hate him who reproves in the gate, and they abhor him who speaks blamelessly.
11Deaceea, pentrucă pe sărac îl călcaţi în picioare, şi luaţi daruri de grîu dela el: măcar că aţi zidit case de piatră cioplită, nu le veţi locui; măcarcă aţi sădit vii foarte bune, nu veţi bea din vinul lor!
11Forasmuch therefore as you trample on the poor, and take taxes from him of wheat: You have built houses of cut stone, but you will not dwell in them. You have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine.
12Căci Eu ştiu că nelegiuirile voastre sînt multe, şi că păcatele voastre sînt fără număr: asupriţi pe cel drept, luaţi mită, şi călcaţi în picioare la poarta cetăţii dreptul săracilor.
12For I know how many your offenses, and how great are your sins— you who afflict the just, who take a bribe, and who turn aside the needy in the courts.
13De aceea, în vremuri ca acestea, înţeleptul trebuie să tacă; căci sînt vremuri rele.
13Therefore a prudent person keeps silent in such a time, for it is an evil time.
14Căutaţi binele şi nu răul, ca să trăiţi, şi ca astfel, Domnul, Dumnezeul oştirilor, să fie cu voi, cum spuneţi voi!
14Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so Yahweh, the God of Armies, will be with you, as you say.
15Urîţi răul şi iubiţi binele, faceţi să domnească dreptatea la poarta cetăţii; şi poate că Domnul, Dumnezeul oştirilor, va avea milă de rămăşiţele lui Iosif.
15Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the courts. It may be that Yahweh, the God of Armies, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.”
16De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul oştirilor, Cel Atotputernic: ,,În toate pieţele se vor boci, şi pe toate uliţile vor zice: ,Vai! Vai!` Vor chema pe plugar la jale, şi la bocire pe ceice fac jălanii pentru morţi.
16Therefore thus says Yahweh, the God of Armies, the Lord: “Wailing will be in all the broad ways; and they will say in all the streets, ‘Alas! Alas!’ and they will call the farmer to mourning, and those who are skillful in lamentation to wailing.
17În toate viile va fi bocet, cînd voi trece prin mijlocul tău, zice Domnul.
17In all vineyards there will be wailing; for I will pass through the midst of you,” says Yahweh.
18,,Vai de cei ce doresc ,ziua Domnului!` Ce aşteptaţi voi dela ziua Domnului? Ea va fi întunerec şi nu lumină.
18“Woe to you who desire the day of Yahweh! Why do you long for the day of Yahweh? It is darkness, and not light.
19Veţi fi ca un om care fuge dinaintea unui leu pe care -l întîlneşte un urs, şi care, cînd ajunge acasă, îşi reazimă mîna pe zid, şi -l muşcă un şarpe!
19As if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; Or he went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a snake bit him.
20Nu va fi oare ziua Domnului întunerec, în loc de lumină? Nu va fi ea întunecoasă şi fără strălucire?
20Won’t the day of Yahweh be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it?
21Eu urăsc, dispreţuiesc sărbătorile voastre, şi nu pot să vă sufăr adunările de sărbătoare!
21I hate, I despise your feasts, and I can’t stand your solemn assemblies.
22Cînd Îmi aduceţi arderi de tot şi daruri de mîncare, n'am nicio plăcere de ele; şi viţeii îngrăşaţi pe cari -i aduceţi ca jertfe de mulţămire, nici nu Mă uit la ei.
22Yes, though you offer me your burnt offerings and meal offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat animals.
23Depărtează de Mine vuietul cîntecelor tale; nu pot asculta sunetul alăutelor tale!
23Take away from me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.
24Ci dreptatea să curgă ca o apă curgătoare, şi neprihănirea ca un pîrîu care nu seacă niciodată!
24But let justice roll on like rivers, and righteousness like a mighty stream.
25Mi-aţi adus voi jertfe şi daruri de mîncare, în timpul celor patruzeci de ani din pustie, casa lui Israel?...
25“Did you bring to me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, house of Israel?
26Veţi ridica dar pe Sacut, împăratul vostru, şi pe Caivan, chipurile voastre idoleşti, steaua dumnezeului vostru, pe care vi l-aţi făcut,
26You also carried the tent of your king and the shrine of your images, the star of your god, which you made for yourselves.
27şi vă voi duce în robie dincolo de Damasc, zice Domnul, al cărui Nume este Dumnezeul oştirilor!``
27Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus,” says Yahweh, whose name is the God of Armies.
