¹Domnul a vorbit lui Moise, şi a zis:

¹Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

²,,Pune-Mi deoparte ca sfînt pe orice întîi-născut, pe orice întîi născut dintre copiii lui Israel, atît dintre oameni cît şi dintre dobitoace: este al Meu.``

²“Sanctify to me all of the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of animal. It is mine.”

³Moise a zis poporului: ,,Aduceţi-vă aminte de ziua aceasta, cînd aţi ieşit din Egipt, din casa robiei; căci cu mînă puternică v'a scos Domnul de acolo. Să nu mîncaţi pîne dospită.

³Moses said to the people, “Remember this day, in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand Yahweh brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.

⁴Astăzi ieşiţi, în luna spicelor.

⁴This day you go out in the month Abib.

⁵Cînd te va duce Domnul în ţara Cananiţilor, Hetiţilor, Amoriţilor, Heviţilor şi Iebusiţilor, pe care a jurat părinţilor tăi că ţi -o va da, ţară unde curge lapte şi miere, să ţii următoarea slujbă în luna aceasta.

⁵It shall be, when Yahweh shall bring you into the land of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, which he swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month.

⁶Timp de şapte zile, să mănînci azimi; şi în ziua a şaptea, să fie o sărbătoare în cinstea Domnului.

⁶Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to Yahweh.

⁷În timpul celor şapte zile, să mîncaţi azimi; să nu se vadă la tine nimic dospit, nici aluat, pe toată întinderea ţării tale.

⁷Unleavened bread shall be eaten throughout the seven days; and no leavened bread shall be seen with you, neither shall yeast be seen with you, in all your borders.

⁸Să spui atunci fiului tău: ,Aceasta este spre pomenirea celor ce a făcut Domnul pentru mine, cînd am ieşit din Egipt.`

⁸You shall tell your son in that day, saying, ‘It is because of that which Yahweh did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

⁹Să-ţi fie ca un semn pe mînă şi ca un semn de aducere aminte pe frunte între ochii tăi, pentruca legea Domnului să fie totdeauna în gura ta; căci cu mînă puternică te -a scos Domnul din Egipt.

⁹It shall be for a sign to you on your hand, and for a memorial between your eyes, that the law of Yahweh may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand Yahweh has brought you out of Egypt.

¹⁰Să ţii porunca aceasta la vremea hotărîtă, din an în an.

¹⁰You shall therefore keep this ordinance in its season from year to year.

¹¹Cînd te va aduce Domnul în ţara Cananiţilor, cum a jurat ţie şi părinţilor tăi, şi cînd ţi -o va da,

¹¹“It shall be, when Yahweh shall bring you into the land of the Canaanite, as he swore to you and to your fathers, and shall give it you,

¹²să închini Domnului pe orice întîi-născut, chiar pe orice întîi-născut din vitele, pe cari le vei avea: orice parte bărbătească este a Domnului.

¹²that you shall set apart to Yahweh all that opens the womb, and every firstborn which you have that comes from an animal. The males shall be Yahweh’s.

¹³Să răscumperi cu un miel pe orice întîi-născut al măgăriţei; iar dacă nu -l vei răscumpăra, să -i frîngi gîtul. Să răscumperi de asemenea pe orice întîi-născut de parte bărbătească dintre fiii tăi.

¹³Every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck; and you shall redeem all the firstborn of man among your sons.

¹⁴Şi cînd te va întreba fiul tău într'o zi: ,Ce înseamnă lucrul acesta?` să -i răspunzi: ,Prin mîna Lui cea atotputernică, Domnul ne -a scos din Egipt, din casa robiei;

¹⁴It shall be, when your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is this?’ that you shall tell him, ‘By strength of hand Yahweh brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage;

¹⁵şi, fiindcă Faraon se încăpăţîna şi nu voia să ne lase să plecăm, Domnul a omorît pe toţi întîii-născuţi din ţara Egiptului, dela întîii-născuţi ai oamenilor pînă la întîii-născuţi ai dobitoacelor. Iată de ce aduc jertfă Domnului pe orice întîi-născut de parte bărbătească, şi răscumpăr pe orice întîi-născut dintre fiii mei.

¹⁵and it happened, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that Yahweh killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of animal. Therefore I sacrifice to Yahweh all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.’

¹⁶Să-ţi fie ca un semn pe mînă şi ca un semn de aducere aminte pe frunte între ochi; căci prin mîna Lui atotputernică ne -a scos Domnul din Egipt.```

¹⁶It shall be for a sign on your hand, and for symbols between your eyes: for by strength of hand Yahweh brought us out of Egypt.”

¹⁷După ce a lăsat Faraon pe popor să plece, Dumnezeu nu l -a dus pe drumul care dă în ţara Filistenilor, măcar că era mai aproape; căci a zis Dumnezeu: ,,S'ar putea să -i pară rău poporului văzînd războiul, şi să se întoarcă în Egipt.``

¹⁷It happened, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God didn’t lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and they return to Egypt”;

¹⁸Ci Dumnezeu a pus pe popor să facă un ocol pe drumul care duce spre pustie, spre marea Roşie. Copiii lui Israel au eşit înarmaţi din ţara Egiptului.

¹⁸but God led the people around by the way of the wilderness by the Red Sea or, Sea of Reeds ; and the children of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁹Moise a luat cu el oasele lui Iosif; căci Iosif pusese pe fiii lui Israel să jure, zicînd: ,,Cînd vă va cerceta Dumnezeu, să luaţi cu voi oasele mele de aici.``

¹⁹Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for he had made the children of Israel swear, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones away from here with you.”

²⁰Au plecat din Sucot, şi au tăbărît la Etam, la marginea pustiei.

²⁰They took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.

²¹Domnul mergea înaintea lor, ziua într'un stîlp de nor, ca să -i călăuzească pe drum, iar noaptea într'un stîlp de foc, ca să -i lumineze, pentru ca să meargă şi ziua şi noaptea.

²¹Yahweh went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them on their way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, that they might go by day and by night:

²²Stîlpul de nor nu se depărta dinaintea poporului în timpul zilei, nici stîlpul de foc în timpul nopţii.

²²the pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night, didn’t depart from before the people.
