²În ziua a şaptea Dumnezeu Şi -a sfîrşit lucrarea, pe care o făcuse; şi în ziua a şaptea S'a odihnit de toată lucrarea Lui pe care o făcuse.

²On the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

³Dumnezeu a binecuvîntat ziua a şaptea şi a sfinţit -o, pentrucă în ziua aceasta S'a odihnit de toată lucrarea Lui, pe care o zidise şi o făcuse.

³God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work which he had created and made.

⁴Iată istoria cerurilor şi a pămîntului, cînd au fost făcute.

⁴This is the history of the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. God made the earth and the heavens.

⁵În ziua cînd a făcut Domnul Dumnezeu un pămînt şi ceruri, nu era încă pe pămînt nici un copăcel de cîmp şi nici o iarbă de pe cîmp nu încolţea încă: fiindcă Domnul Dumnezeu nu dăduse încă ploaie pe pămînt şi nu era nici un om ca să lucreze pămîntul.

⁵No plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for Yahweh God had not caused it to rain on the earth. There was not a man to till the ground,

⁶Ci un abur se ridica de pe pămînt şi uda toată faţa pămîntului.

⁶but a mist went up from the earth, and watered the whole surface of the ground.

⁷Domnul Dumnezeu a făcut pe om din ţărîna pămîntului, i -a suflat în nări suflare de viaţă, şi omul s'a făcut astfel un suflet viu.

⁷Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

⁸Apoi Domnul Dumnezeu a sădit o grădină în Eden, spre răsărit; şi a pus acolo pe omul pe care -l întocmise.

⁸Yahweh God planted a garden eastward, in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.

⁹Domnul Dumnezeu a făcut să răsară din pămînt tot felul de pomi, plăcuţi la vedere şi buni la mîncare, şi pomul vieţii în mijlocul grădinii, şi pomul cunoştinţei binelui şi răului.

⁹Out of the ground Yahweh God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the middle of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

¹⁰Un rîu ieşea din Eden şi uda grădina; şi de acolo se împărţea şi se făcea patru braţe.

¹⁰A river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it was parted, and became four heads.

¹¹Numele celui dintîi este Pison; el înconjoară toată ţara Havila, unde se găseşte aur.

¹¹The name of the first is Pishon: this is the one which flows through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

¹²Aurul din ţara aceasta este bun; acolo se găseşte şi bedelion şi piatră de onix.

¹²and the gold of that land is good. There is aromatic resin and the onyx stone.

¹³Numele rîului al doilea este Ghihon; el înconjoară toată ţara Cuş.

¹³The name of the second river is Gihon: the same river that flows through the whole land of Cush.

¹⁴Numele celui de al treilea este Hidechel: el curge la răsăritul Asiriei. Al patrulea rîu este Eufratul.

¹⁴The name of the third river is Hiddekel: this is the one which flows in front of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.

¹⁵Domnul Dumnezeu a luat pe om şi l -a aşezat în grădina Edenului, ca s'o lucreze şi s'o păzească.

¹⁵Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

¹⁶Domnul Dumnezeu a dat omului porunca aceasta: ,,Poţi să mănînci după plăcere din orice pom din grădină;

¹⁶Yahweh God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;

¹⁷dar din pomul cunoştinţei binelui şi răului să nu mănînci, căci în ziua în care vei mînca din el, vei muri negreşit.``

¹⁷but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it; for in the day that you eat of it you will surely die.”

¹⁸Domnul Dumnezeu a zis: ,,Nu este bine ca omul să fie singur; am să -i fac un ajutor potrivit pentru el.``

¹⁸Yahweh God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.”

¹⁹Domnul Dumnezeu a făcut din pămînt toate fiarele cîmpului şi toate păsările cerului; şi le -a adus la om, ca să vadă cum are să le numească; şi orice nume pe care -l dădea omul fiecărei vieţuitoare, acela -i era numele.

¹⁹Out of the ground Yahweh God formed every animal of the field, and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name.

²⁰Şi omul a pus nume tuturor vitelor, păsărilor cerului şi tuturor fiarelor cîmpului; dar, pentru om, nu s'a găsit niciun ajutor, care să i se potrivească.

²⁰The man gave names to all livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field; but for man there was not found a helper suitable for him.

²¹Atunci Domnul Dumnezeu a trimes un somn adînc peste om, şi omul a adormit; Domnul Dumnezeu a luat una din coastele lui şi a închis carnea la locul ei.

²¹Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.

²²Din coasta pe care o luase din om, Domnul Dumnezeu a făcut o femeie şi a adus -o la om.

²²He made the rib, which Yahweh God had taken from the man, into a woman, and brought her to the man.

²³Şi omul a zis: ,,Iată în sfîrşit aceea care este os din oasele mele şi carne din carnea mea! Ea se va numi, femeie, pentrucă a fost luată din om.``

²³The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of Man.”

²⁴Deaceea va lăsa omul pe tatăl său şi pe mama sa, şi se va lipi de nevasta sa, şi se vor face un singur trup.

²⁴Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.

²⁵Omul şi nevasta lui erau amîndoi goi, şi nu le era ruşine.

²⁵They were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
