¹Domnul, Dumnezeul oştirilor, va lua din Ierusalim şi din Iuda orice sprijin şi orice mijloc de trai, orice izvor de pîne, şi orice izvor de apă,

¹For, behold, the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah supply and support, the whole supply of bread, and the whole supply of water;

²pe viteaz şi pe omul de război, pe judecător şi pe prooroc, pe ghicitor şi pe bătrîn,

²the mighty man, the man of war, the judge, the prophet, the diviner, the elder,

³pe căpetenia peste cincizeci şi pe dregător, pe sfetnic, pe meşteşugarul ales şi pe vrăjitorul iscusit.

³the captain of fifty, the honorable man, the counselor, the skilled craftsman, and the clever enchanter.

⁴,,Le voi da băieţi drept căpetenii, -zice Domnul, -şi nişte copii vor stăpîni peste ei.``

⁴I will give boys to be their princes, and children shall rule over them.

⁵Oamenii se vor asupri unii pe alţii, unul va apăsa pe celalt, fiecare pe aproapele lui, tînărul va lovi pe cel bătrîn, şi omul de nimic pe cel pus în cinste.

⁵The people will be oppressed, everyone by another, and everyone by his neighbor. The child will behave himself proudly against the old man, and the base against the honorable.

⁶Vor merge pînă acolo încît unul va apuca pe fratele său în casa părintească, şi -i va zice: ,,Tu ai o haină, fii căpetenia noastră! Ia dărămăturile acestea supt mîna ta!``

⁶Indeed a man shall take hold of his brother in the house of his father, saying, “You have clothing, you be our ruler, and let this ruin be under your hand.”

⁷Dar în aceeaş zi el va răspunde: ,,Nu pot să fiu doftor, căci în casa mea nu este nici pîne nici haină: nu mă puneţi căpătenie peste popor.``

⁷In that day he will cry out, saying, “I will not be a healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing. You shall not make me ruler of the people.”

⁸Se clatină Ierusalimul, se prăbuşeşte Iuda, pentrucă vorbele şi faptele lor sînt îndreptate împotriva Domnului, înfruntînd privirile Lui măreţe.

⁸For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against Yahweh, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

⁹Înfăţişarea feţei lor mărturiseşte împotriva lor, şi, ca Sodomiţii, îşi dau pe faţă nelegiuirea, fără s'o ascundă. Vai de sufletul lor, căci îşi pregătesc rele!

⁹The look of their faces testify against them. They parade their sin like Sodom. They don’t hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have brought disaster upon themselves.

¹⁰Bine de cel neprihănit! Lui îi va merge bine, căci se va bucura de rodul faptelor lui.

¹⁰Tell the righteous “Good!” For they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.

¹¹Vai de cel rău! Lui îi va merge rău, căci va culege rodul faptelor lui.

¹¹Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them; for the deeds of his hands will be paid back to him.

¹²Poporul meu este asuprit de nişte copii, şi -l stăpînesc nişte femei! Poporul meu, cîrmuitorii tăi te duc în rătăcire, şi pustiesc calea pe care umbli!

¹²As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. My people, those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths.

¹³Domnul Se înfăţişază la judecată, stă în picioare ca să judece popoarele.

¹³Yahweh stands up to contend, and stands to judge the peoples.

¹⁴Domnul intră la judecată cu bătrînii poporului Său şi cu mai marii lui: ,,Voi aţi mîncat via! Prada luată dela sărac este în casele voastre!

¹⁴Yahweh will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and their leaders: “It is you who have eaten up the vineyard. The spoil of the poor is in your houses.

¹⁵Cu ce drept călcaţi voi în picioare pe poporul Meu, şi apăsaţi pe săraci?`` zice Domnul, Dumnezeul oştirilor.

¹⁵What do you mean that you crush my people, and grind the face of the poor?” says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies.

¹⁶Domnul zice: ,,Pentrucă fiicele Sionului sînt mîndre, şi umblă cu gîtul întins şi cu priviri pofticioase, pentrucă păşesc mărunţel, şi zornăesc cu verigile dela picior, -

¹⁶Moreover Yahweh said, “Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and flirting eyes, walking to trip as they go, jingling ornaments on their feet;

¹⁷Domnul va pleşuvi creştetul capului fiicelor Sionului, Domnul le va descopri ruşinea``.

¹⁷therefore the Lord brings sores on the crown of the head of the women of Zion, and Yahweh will make their scalps bald.”

¹⁸În ziua aceea, Domnul va scoate verigile cari le slujesc ca podoabă la picioare, şi sorişorii şi lunişoarele,

¹⁸In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, the headbands, the crescent necklaces,

¹⁹cerceii, brăţările şi măhramele;

¹⁹the earrings, the bracelets, the veils,

²⁰legăturile de pe cap, lănţişoarele dela picioare şi brîele, cutiile cu mirosuri şi băierele descîntate;

²⁰the headdresses, the ankle chains, the sashes, the perfume bottles, the charms,

²¹inelele şi verigele dela nas;

²¹the signet rings, the nose rings,

²²hainele de sărbătoare şi cămăşile cele largi, mantiile şi pungile;

²²the fine robes, the capes, the cloaks, the purses,

²³oglinzile şi cămăşile supţiri, turbanele şi măhramele uşoare.

²³the hand mirrors, the fine linen garments, the tiaras, and the shawls.

²⁴Şi atunci în loc de miros plăcut va fi putoare; în loc de brîu, o funie; în loc de păr încreţit, un cap pleşuv, în loc de mantie largă, un sac strîmt; un semn de înfierare, în loc de frumuseţă.

²⁴It shall happen that instead of sweet spices, there shall be rottenness; instead of a belt, a rope; instead of well set hair, baldness; instead of a robe, a wearing of sackcloth; and branding instead of beauty.

²⁵Bărbaţii tăi vor cădea ucişi de sabie şi vitejii tăi în luptă.

²⁵Your men shall fall by the sword, and your mighty in the war.

²⁶Porţile fiicei Sionului vor geme şi se vor jăli; şi ea va şedea despoiată pe pămînt.

²⁶Her gates shall lament and mourn; and she shall be desolate and sit on the ground.
