¹Cuvîntul, care a fost spus lui Ieremia despre tot poporul lui Iuda, în al patrulea an al Ioiachim, fiul lui Iosia, împăratul lui Iuda-acesta era cel dintîi an al lui Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului-

¹The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (the same was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon),

²cuvînt, pe care l -a rostit Ieremia înaintea întregului popor al lui Iuda şi înaintea tuturor locuitorilor Ierusalimului, zicînd:

²which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:

³,,De la al treisprezecelea an al lui Iosia, fiul lui Amon, împăratul lui Iuda, sînt douăzeci şi trei de ani de cînd mi -a vorbit Cuvîntul Domnului; v'am vorbit de dimineaţă, şi n'aţi ascultat.

³From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, these twenty-three years, the word of Yahweh has come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising up early and speaking; but you have not listened.

⁴Domnul v'a trimes pe toţi slujitorii Săi proorocii, i -a trimes disdedimineaţă; şi n'aţi ascultat, n'aţi plecat urechea să ascultaţi.

⁴Yahweh has sent to you all his servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them (but you have not listened, nor inclined your ear to hear)

⁵Ei au zis: ,Întoarceţi-vă fiecare dela calea voastră cea rea şi dela răutatea faptelor voastre, şi veţi rămînea în ţara pe care v'am dat -o vouă şi părinţilor voştri, din vecinicie în vecinicie;

⁵saying, Return now everyone from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that Yahweh has given to you and to your fathers, from of old and even forevermore;

⁶nu vă duceţi după alţi dumnezei, ca să le slujiţi şi să vă închinaţi înaintea lor, nu Mă mîniaţi prin lucrarea mînilor voastre, şi nu vă voi face niciun rău!`

⁶and don’t go after other gods to serve them or worship them, and don’t provoke me to anger with the work of your hands; and I will do you no harm.

⁷Dar nu M'aţi ascultat, zice Domnul, ci M'aţi mîniat prin lucrarea mînilor voastre, spre nenorocirea voastră.``

⁷Yet you have not listened to me, says Yahweh; that you may provoke me to anger with the work of your hands to your own hurt.

⁸De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor: ,,Pentru că n'aţi ascultat cuvintele Mele,

⁸Therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies: Because you have not heard my words,

⁹iată, voi trimete să aducă toate popoarele dela miazănoapte, zice Domnul; şi voi trimete la robul Meu Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului; îi voi aduce împotriva acestei ţări şi împotriva locuitorilor ei, şi împotriva tuturor acestor neamuri de jur împrejur, ca să le nimicească cu desăvîrşire şi să facă din ele un pustiu şi o pricină de batjocură, nişte dărîmături vecinice.

⁹behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says Yahweh, and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations around; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

¹⁰Voi face să înceteze între ei strigătele de bucurie şi strigătele de veselie, cîntecele mirelui şi cîntecele miresei, uruitul morii şi lumina lămpii.

¹⁰Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp.

¹¹Toată ţara aceasta va fi o paragină, un pustiu, şi neamurile acestea vor fi supuse împăratului Babilonului timp de şaptezeci de ani.

¹¹This whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

¹²Dar cînd se vor împlini aceşti şaptezeci de ani, voi pedepsi pe împăratul Babilonului şi pe neamul acela, zice Domnul, pentru nelegiuirile lor; voi pedepsi ţara Haldeilor, şi o voi preface în nişte dărîmături vecinice.

¹²It shall happen, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, says Yahweh, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans; and I will make it desolate forever.

¹³Voi aduce peste ţara aceea toate lucrurile pe cari le-am vestit despre ea, tot ce este scris în cartea aceasta, tot ce a proorocit Ieremia despre toate neamurile.

¹³I will bring on that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations.

¹⁴Căci neamuri puternice şi împăraţi mari le vor supune şi pe ele, şi le voi răsplăti după faptele şi lucrarea mînilor lor.``

¹⁴For many nations and great kings shall make bondservants of them, even of them; and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the work of their hands.

¹⁵Căci aşa mi -a vorbit Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel: ,,Ia din mîna Mea, acest potir plin cu vinul mîniei Mele şi dă -l să bea toate neamurile la cari te voi trimite.

¹⁵For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, to me: take this cup of the wine of wrath at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it.

¹⁶Vor bea, şi se vor ameţi şi vor fi ca nişte nebuni, la vederea săbiei, pe care o voi trimite în mijlocul lor!

¹⁶They shall drink, and reel back and forth, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.

¹⁷Eu am luat potirul din mîna Domnului, şi l-am dat să -l bea toate neamurile la cari mă trimitea Domnul:

¹⁷Then took I the cup at Yahweh’s hand, and made all the nations to drink, to whom Yahweh had sent me:

¹⁸Ierusalimului şi cetăţilor lui Iuda, împăraţilor şi căpeteniilor sale, ca să le prefacă în dărîmături, într'un pustiu, să -i facă de batjocură şi de blestem, cum se vede lucrul acesta astăzi;

¹⁸Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and its kings, and its princes, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day;

¹⁹lui Faraon, împăratul Egiptului, slujitorilor lui, căpeteniilor lui, şi tot poporului lui;

¹⁹Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;

²⁰la toată Arabia, tuturor împăraţilor ţării Uţ, tuturor împăraţilor ţării Filistenilor, Ascalonului, Gazei, Ecronului, şi celor ce au mai rămas din Asdod;

²⁰and all the mixed people, and all the kings of the land of the Uz, and all the kings of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Gaza, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod;

²¹Edomului, Moabului, şi copiilor lui Amon;

²¹Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon;

²²tuturor împăraţilor Tirului, tuturor împăraţilor Sidonului, şi împăraţilor ostroavelor cari sînt dincolo de mare;

²²and all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the isle which is beyond the sea;

²³Dedanului, Temei, Buzului, şi tuturor celor ce îşi rad colţurile bărbii,

²³Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all who have the corners of their beard cut off;

²⁴tuturor împăraţilor Arabiei, şi tuturor împăraţilor Arabilor cari locuiesc în pustie;

²⁴and all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mixed people who dwell in the wilderness;

²⁵tuturor împăraţilor Zimrei, tuturor împăraţilor Elamului, şi tuturor împărăţilor Mediei;

²⁵and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes;

²⁶tuturor împăraţilor dela miazănoapte, de aproape sau de departe, şi unora şi altora, şi tuturor împăraţiilor lumii cari sînt pe faţa pămîntului. Iar împăratul Şeşacului va bea după ei.

²⁶and all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world, which are on the surface of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

²⁷,Să le spui: ,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: ,Beţi, îmbătaţi-vă, şi vărsaţi, şi cădeţi fără să vă mai ridicaţi, la vederea săbiei pe care o voi trimite în mijlocul vostru!`

²⁷You shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Drink, and be drunk, vomit, fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.

²⁸,Şi dacă nu vor vrea să ia din mîna ta potirul ca să bea, spune-le: ,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor`: ,Beţi!

²⁸It shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at your hand to drink, then you shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh of Armies: You shall surely drink.

²⁹Căci iată că în cetatea peste care se cheamă Numele Meu, încep să fac rău: şi voi să rămîneţi nepedepsiţi?` ,Nu veţi rămînea nepedepsiţi, căci voi chema sabia peste toţi locuitorii pămîntului, zice Domnul oştirilor.`

²⁹For, behold, I begin to work evil at the city which is called by my name; and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth, says Yahweh of Armies.

³⁰,Şi tu, să le prooroceşti toate aceste lucruri, şi să le spui: ,Domnul va răcni de sus; din Locaşul Lui cel sfînt va face să -I răsune glasul; va răcni împotriva locului locuinţei Lui; va striga, ca cei ce calcă în teasc, împotriva tuturor locuitorilor pămîntului.

³⁰Therefore prophesy you against them all these words, and tell them, Yahweh will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he will mightily roar against his fold; he will give a shout, as those who tread grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

³¹Vuietul ajunge pînă la marginea pămîntului; căci Domnul Se ceartă cu neamurile, intră la judecată împotriva oricărei făpturi, şi dă pe cei răi pradă săbiei, zice Domnul.``

³¹A noise shall come even to the end of the earth; for Yahweh has a controversy with the nations; he will enter into judgment with all flesh: as for the wicked, he will give them to the sword, says Yahweh.

³²,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor: ,Iată, nenorocirea merge din popor în popor, şi o mare furtună se ridică dela marginile pămîntului.

³²Thus says Yahweh of Armies, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great storm shall be raised up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

³³Cei pe cari -i va ucide Domnul în ziua aceea vor fi întinşi de la un capăt al pămîntului pînă la celalt; nu vor fi nici jăliţi, nici adunaţi, nici îngropaţi, ci vor fi un gunoi de pămînt.

³³The slain of Yahweh shall be at that day from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung on the surface of the ground.

³⁴Gemeţi, păstori, şi strigaţi! Tăvăliţi-vă în cenuşă, povăţuitori ai turmelor! Căci au venit zilele junghierii voastre. Vă voi zdrobi, şi veţi cădea la pămînt ca un vas de preţ.

³⁴Wail, you shepherds, and cry; and wallow in dust, you principal of the flock; for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are fully come, and you shall fall like a goodly vessel.

³⁵Nu mai este niciun loc de adăpost pentru păstori! Nu mai este nici o scăpare pentru povăţuitorii turmelor!

³⁵The shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape.

³⁶Se aud strigătele păstorilor, şi gemetele povăţuitorilor turmelor, căci Domnul le pustieşte locul de păşune,

³⁶A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and the wailing of the principal of the flock! for Yahweh lays waste their pasture.

³⁷şi colibele cele liniştite sînt nimicite de mînia aprinsă a Domnului.

³⁷The peaceable folds are brought to silence because of the fierce anger of Yahweh.

³⁸El Şi -a părăsit locuinţa, ca un pui de leu vizuina; aşa că ţara le este prefăcută în pustie de urgia nimicitorului şi de mînia lui aprinsă.``

³⁸He has left his covert, as the lion; for their land has become an astonishment because of the fierceness of the oppression, and because of his fierce anger.
