¹La începutul domniei lui Ioiachim, fiul lui Iosia, împăratul lui Iuda, a fost rostit către Ieremia din partea Domnului, următorul cuvînt:

¹In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

²,,Aşa mi -a vorbit Domnul: ,Fă-ţi nişte legături şi nişte juguri, şi puneţi-le la gît.

²Thus says Yahweh to me: Make bonds and bars, and put them on your neck;

³Trimete-le împăratului Edomului, împăratului Moabului, împăratului copiilor lui Amon, împăratului Tirului şi împăratului Sidonului, prin trimeşii cari au venit la Ierusalim la Zedechia, împăratul lui Iuda.

³and send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the children of Ammon, and to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon, by the hand of the messengers who come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah;

⁴Şi spune-le să spună stăpînilor lor: ,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor, împăratul lui Israel: ,Iatăce să spuneţi stăpînilor voştri:

⁴and give them a command to their masters, saying, Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, You shall tell your masters:

⁵,Eu am făcut pămîntul, pe oameni, şi dobitoacele cari sînt pe pămînt, cu puterea Mea cea mare şi cu braţul Meu întins, şi dau pămîntul cui Îmi place.

⁵I have made the earth, the men and the animals that are on the surface of the earth, by my great power and by my outstretched arm; and I give it to whom it seems right to me.

⁶Acum dau toate aceste ţări în mîinile robului Meu Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului; îi dau chiar şi fiarele cîmpului ca să -i fie supuse.

⁶Now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the animals of the field also have I given him to serve him.

⁷Toate neamurile vor fi supuse lui, fiului său, şi fiului fiului său, pînă va veni şi vremea ţării lui, şi o vor supune neamuri puternice şi împăraţi mari.

⁷All the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son’s son, until the time of his own land come: and then many nations and great kings shall make him their bondservant.

⁸Dar dacă un popor sau o împărăţie nu se va supune lui Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, şi nu-şi va pleca grumazul supt jugul împăratului Babilonului, voi pedepsi pe poporul acela cu sabie, cu foamete şi cu ciumă, zice Domnul, pînă îl voi nimici prin mîna lui.

⁸It shall happen, that the nation and the kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, says Yahweh, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.

⁹De aceea, să n'ascultaţi pe proorocii voştri, pe ghicitorii voştri, pe visătorii voştri, pe cititorii voştri în stele, şi pe vrăjitorii voştri, cari vă zic: ,Nu veţi fi supuşi împăratului Babilonului!`

⁹But as for you, don’t you listen to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreams, nor to your soothsayers, nor to your sorcerers, who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon:

¹⁰Căci ei vă proorocesc minciuni, ca să fiţi depărtaţi din ţara voastră, ca să vă izgonesc şi să pieriţi.

¹⁰for they prophesy a lie to you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out, and you should perish.

¹¹Dar pe poporul care îşi va pleca grumazul supt jugul împăratului Babilonului, şi care -i va fi supus, îl voi lăsa în ţara lui, zice Domnul, ca s'o lucreze şi să locuiască în ea.`

¹¹But the nation that shall bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, that nation will I let remain in their own land, says Yahweh; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.

¹²,Am spus întocmai aceleaşi lucruri lui Zedechia, împăratul lui Iuda: ,Plecaţi-vă grumazul supt jugul împăratului Babilonului, supuneţi-vă lui şi poporului lui, şi veţi trăi.

¹²I spoke to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.

¹³Pentruce să muriţi, tu şi poporul tău, de sabie, de foamete şi de ciumă, cum a hotărît Domnul asupra poporului care nu se va supune împăratului Babilonului?

¹³Why will you die, you and your people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as Yahweh has spoken concerning the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?

¹⁴N'ascultaţi de cuvintele proorocilor cari vă zic: ,Nu veţi fi supuşi împăratului Babilonului!` Căci ei vă proorocesc minciuni;

¹⁴Don’t listen to the words of the prophets who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon; for they prophesy a lie to you.

¹⁵,Nu i-am trimes Eu, zice Domnul, ci proorocesc minciuni în Numele Meu, ca să izgonesc şi să pieriţi, voi şi proorocii cari vă proorocesc!`

¹⁵For I have not sent them, says Yahweh, but they prophesy falsely in my name; that I may drive you out, and that you may perish, you, and the prophets who prophesy to you.

¹⁶Am vorbit şi preoţilor şi întregului popor şi le-am spus: ,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ,N-ascultaţi de cuvintele proorocilor voştri, cari vă proorocesc şi zic: ,Iată că uneltele Casei Domnului vor fi aduse în curînd din Babilon!` Căci ei vă proorocesc minciuni.

¹⁶Also I spoke to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus says Yahweh: Don’t listen to the words of your prophets who prophesy to you, saying, Behold, the vessels of Yahweh’s house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon; for they prophesy a lie to you.

¹⁷Nu -i ascultaţi; supuneţi-vă împăratului Babilonului, şi veţi trăi. Pentruce să ajungă cetatea aceasta o dărîmătură?

¹⁷Don’t listen to them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: why should this city become a desolation?

¹⁸Dacă sînt ei prooroci şi dacă este cu ei Cuvîntul Domnului, să mijlocească la Domnul oştirilor, pentruca uneltele cari au mai rămas în Casa Domnului, în casa împăratului lui Iuda, şi în Ierusalim, să nu se ducă în Babilon.

¹⁸But if they be prophets, and if the word of Yahweh be with them, let them now make intercession to Yahweh of Armies, that the vessels which are left in the house of Yahweh, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, don’t go to Babylon.

¹⁹Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor cu privire la stîlpi, la marea de aramă, la temelii şi la toate celelalte unelte cari au mai rămas în cetatea aceasta,

¹⁹For thus says Yahweh of Armies concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that are left in this city,

²⁰şi cari n'au fost ridicate de Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, cînd a luat robi din Ierusalim în Babilon pe Ieconia, fiul lui Ioiachim, împăratul lui Iuda, şi pe toţi mai marii lui Iuda şi Ierusalimului;

²⁰which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon didn’t take, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;

²¹aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel, despre uneltele, cari au mai rămas în Casa Domnului, în casa împăratului lui Iuda, şi în Ierusalim:

²¹yes, thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that are left in the house of Yahweh, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem:

²²,Ele vor fi duse în Babilon, şi vor rămînea acolo pînă în ziua, cînd le voi căuta Eu-zice Domnul-cînd le voi ridica iarăş şi le voi aduce înapoi în locul acesta.``

²²They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be, until the day that I visit them, says Yahweh; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.
