¹Cuvîntul Domnului a vorbit lui Ieremia a doua oară, pe cînd era încă închis în curtea temniţei:

¹Moreover the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the guard, saying,

²,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, care face aceste lucruri, Domnul, care le urzeşte şi le înfăptuieşte, El, al cărui Nume este Domnul:

²Thus says Yahweh who does it, Yahweh who forms it to establish it; Yahweh is his name:

³,Cheamă-Mă, şi-ţi voi răspunde; şi îţi voi vesti lucruri mari, lucruri ascunse, pe cari nu le cunoşti.

³Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great things, and difficult, which you don’t know.

⁴Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, despre casele cetăţii acesteia, şi despre casele împăraţilor lui Iuda, cari vor fi surpate ca să facă loc pentru şanţurile de întărire şi pentru săbii,

⁴For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are broken down to make a defense against the mounds and against the sword;

⁵cînd vor înainta să lupte împotriva Haldeilor, şi cînd se vor umplea cu trupurile moarte ale oamenilor, pe cari -i voi lovi în mînia Mea şi în urgia Mea, şi din pricina răutăţii cărora Îmi voi ascunde Faţa de această cetate:

⁵while men come to fight with the Chaldeans, and to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have killed in my anger and in my wrath, and for all whose wickedness I have hidden my face from this city:

⁶Iată, îi voi da vindecare şi sănătate, îi voi vindeca, şi le voi deschide un izvor bogat în pace şi credincioşie.

⁶Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them; and I will reveal to them abundance of peace and truth.

⁷Voi aduce înapoi pe prinşii de război ai lui Iuda şi pe prinşii de război ai lui Iuda şi pe prinşii de război ai lui Israel, şi -i voi aşeza iarăş ca odinioară.

⁷I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.

⁸Îi voi curăţi de toate nelegiuirile, pe cari le-au săvîrşit împotriva Mea, le voi ierta toate nelegiuirile prin cari M'au supărat, şi prin cari s'au răzvrătit împotriva Mea.

⁸I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, by which they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, by which they have sinned against me, and by which they have transgressed against me.

⁹Cetatea aceasta va fi pentru Mine o pricină de laudă şi de slavă, printre toate neamurile pămîntului. Ele vor afla tot binele pe care li -l voi face, vor rămînea mirate şi uimite de toată fericirea, şi de toată propăşirea pe care le -o voi da.``

⁹This city shall be to me for a name of joy, for a praise and for a glory, before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do to them, and shall fear and tremble for all the good and for all the peace that I procure to it.

¹⁰Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ,,Se vor mai auzi iarăş în locul acesta despre care ziceţi că este pustiu, că nu mai are oameni nici dobitoace, se vor mai auzi iarăş în cetăţile lui Iuda şi pe uliţele Ierusalimului, pustiite, lipsite de oameni, de locuitori, de dobitoace,

¹⁰Thus says Yahweh: Yet again there shall be heard in this place, about which you say, It is waste, without man and without animal, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without animal,

¹¹strigătele de bucurie şi strigătele de veselie, cîntecele mirelui şi cîntecele miresei, glasul celor ce zic: ,Lăudaţi pe Domnul oştirilor, căci Domnul este bun, căci în veac ţine îndurarea Lui!` Glasul celor ce aduc jertfe de mulţămire în Casa Domnului. Căci voi aduce înapoi pe prinşii de război ai ţării, şi îi voi aşeza iarăş ca odinioară, zice Domnul.``

¹¹the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who say, Give thanks to Yahweh of Armies, for Yahweh is good, for his loving kindness endures forever; who bring thanksgiving into the house of Yahweh. For I will cause the captivity of the land to return as at the first, says Yahweh.

¹²,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul oştirilor: ,În locul acesta pustiu, fără oameni şi fără dobitoace, şi în toate cetăţile lui, vor mai fi iarăş locuinţe de păstori, cari-şi vor odihni turmele. În cetăţile de la munte,

¹²Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Yet again shall there be in this place, which is waste, without man and without animal, and in all its cities, a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.

¹³în cetăţile din cîmpie, în cetăţile de la miază zi, în ţara lui Beniamin şi în împrejurimile Ierusalimului, şi în cetăţile lui Iuda, vor mai trece iarăş oile pe supt mîna celui ce le numără, zice Domnul.``

¹³In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks again pass under the hands of him who numbers them, says Yahweh.

¹⁴,,Iată, vin zile, zice Domnul``, cînd voi împlini cuvîntul cel bun, pe care l-am spus despre casa lui Israel şi despre casa lui Iuda.

¹⁴Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will perform that good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and concerning the house of Judah.

¹⁵În zilele acelea şi în vremile acelea voi face să răsară lui David o Odraslă neprihănită, care va înfăptui dreptatea şi judecata în ţară.

¹⁵In those days, and at that time, will I cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up to David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

¹⁶În zilele acelea, Iuda va fi mîntuit, şi Ierusalimul va locui în linişte. Şi iată cum Îl vor numi: ,Domnul, Neprihănirea1 (Sau: Starea noastră după voia lui Dumnezeu.) noastră.``

¹⁶In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely; and this is the name by which she shall be called: Yahweh our righteousness.

¹⁷Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ,,David nu va fi lipsit niciodată de un urmaş, care să stea pe scaunul de domnie al casei lui Israel.

¹⁷For thus says Yahweh: David shall never want a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;

¹⁸Nici preoţii şi Leviţii, nu vor fi lipsiţi niciodată înaintea Mea de urmaşi cari să aducă arderidetot, să ardă tămîie împreună cu darurile de mîncare, şi să aducă jertfe în toate zilele!``

¹⁸neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to burn meal offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.

¹⁹Cuvîntul Domnului a vorbit lui Ieremia, astfel:

¹⁹The word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, saying,

²⁰,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ,Dacă puteţi să rupeţi legămîntul Meu cu ziua, şi legămîntul Meu cu noaptea, aşa încît ziua şi noaptea să nu mai fie la vremea lor,

²⁰Thus says Yahweh: If you can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, so that there shall not be day and night in their season;

²¹atunci se va putea rupe şi legămîntul Meu cu robul Meu David, aşa încît să nu mai aibă fii, cari să domnească pe scaunul lui de domnie, şi legămîntul Meu cu Leviţii, preoţii, cari Îmi fac slujba.

²¹then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

²²Ca oştirea cerurilor, care nu se poate număra, şi ca nisipul mării, care nu se poate măsura, aşa voi înmulţi sămînţa robului Meu David, şi pe Leviţii, cari-Mi slujesc.``

²²As the army of the sky can’t be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured; so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites who minister to me.

²³Cuvîntul Domnului a vorbit lui Ieremia, astfel:

²³The word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, saying,

²⁴,,N'ai băgat de seamă ce zic oamenii aceştia: ,A lepădat Domnul cele două familii, pe cari le alesese?` Atît de mult dispreţuiesc ei pe poporul Meu că nu -l mai privesc ca un popor.

²⁴Don’t consider what this people has spoken, saying, The two families which Yahweh chose, he has cast them off? thus do they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.

²⁵Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ,Dacă n'am făcut legămîntul Meu cu ziua şi cu noaptea, dacă n'am aşezat legile cerurilor şi ale pămîntului,

²⁵Thus says Yahweh: If my covenant of day and night fails, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

²⁶atunci voi lepăda şi sămînţa lui Iacov şi a robului Meu David, şi nu voi mai lua din sămînţa lui pe cei ce vor stăpîni peste urmaşii lui Avraam, lui Isaac şi lui Iacov, căci voi aduce înapoi pe prinşii lor de război, şi voi avea milă de ei!``

²⁶then will I also cast away the seed of Jacob, and of David my servant, so that I will not take of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and will have mercy on them.
