¹Sunaţi din trîmbiţă în Sion! Sunaţi în gura mare pe muntele Meu cel sfînt, ca să tremure toţi locuitorii ţării. Căci vine ziua Domnului, este aproape! -

¹Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of Yahweh comes, for it is close at hand:

²O zi de întunerec şi negură mare, o zi de nori şi de întunecime. Ca zorile dimineţii se întinde peste munţi un popor mare şi puternic, cum n'a mai fost din veac, şi nici în vremurile viitoare nu va mai fi.

²A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness. As the dawn spreading on the mountains, a great and strong people; there has never been the like, neither will there be any more after them, even to the years of many generations.

³Arde focul înaintea lui, şi pîlpăie flacăra după el. Înaintea lui, ţara era ca o grădină a Edenului, şi după el este un pustiu sterp: nimic nu -i scapă.

³A fire devours before them, and behind them, a flame burns. The land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them, a desolate wilderness. Yes, and no one has escaped them.

⁴Parcă sînt nişte cai, şi aleargă ca nişte călăreţi.

⁴Their appearance is as the appearance of horses, and as horsemen, so do they run.

⁵Vin uruind ca nişte cară pe munţi, şi pîrăe ca o flacără de foc, cînd mistuie miriştea; par o puternică oştire, gata de luptă.

⁵Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains do they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

⁶Tremură popoarele înaintea lor, şi toate feţele îngălbenesc.

⁶At their presence the peoples are in anguish. All faces have grown pale.

⁷Aleargă ca nişte războinici, se suie pe ziduri ca nişte războinici, fiecare îşi vede de drumul lui, şi nu se abate din cărarea lui.

⁷They run like mighty men. They climb the wall like warriors. They each march in his line, and they don’t swerve off course.

⁸Nu se împing unii pe alţii, fiecare ţine şirul, se năpustesc prin săgeţi şi nu se opresc din mers.

⁸Neither does one jostle another; they march everyone in his path, and they burst through the defenses, and don’t break ranks.

⁹Se răspîndesc în cetate, aleargă pe ziduri, se suie pe case, şi intră pe ferestre ca un hoţ.

⁹They rush on the city. They run on the wall. They climb up into the houses. They enter in at the windows like thieves.

¹⁰Înaintea lor se cutremură pămîntul, se zguduie cerurile, soarele şi luna se întunecă, şi stelele îşi pierd lumina.

¹⁰The earth quakes before them. The heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.

¹¹Domnul face să tune glasul Lui înaintea oştirii Sale, căci tabăra Lui este foarte mare, şi celce împlineşte cuvîntul este puternic. Dar mare este ziua Domnului şi foarte înfricoşată: cine o poate suferi?

¹¹Yahweh thunders his voice before his army; for his forces are very great; for he is strong who obeys his command; for the day of Yahweh is great and very awesome, and who can endure it?

¹²,,Dar chiar acuma, zice Domnul, întoarceţi-vă la Mine cu toată inima, cu post, cu plînset şi bocet!

¹²“Yet even now,” says Yahweh, “turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.”

¹³Sfîşiaţi-vă inimile nu hainele, şi întoarceţi-vă la Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru. Căci El este milostiv şi plin de îndurare, îndelung răbdător şi bogat în bunătate, şi -I pare rău de relele pe cari le trimete.

¹³Tear your heart, and not your garments, and turn to Yahweh, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity.

¹⁴Cine ştie dacă nu Se va întoarce şi nu Se va căi? Cine ştie dacă nu va lăsa după El o binecuvîntare, daruri de mîncare şi jertfe de băutură pentru Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru?

¹⁴Who knows? He may turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal offering and a drink offering to Yahweh, your God.

¹⁵Sunaţi cu trîmbiţa în Sion! Vestiţi un post, chemaţi o adunare de sărbătoare!``

¹⁵Blow the trumpet in Zion! Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly.

¹⁶Strîngeţi poporul, ţineţi o adunare sfîntă! Aduceţi pe bătrîni, strîngeţi copiii, şi chiar pruncii dela ţîţă! Să iasă mirele din cămara lui, şi mireasa din odaia ei!

¹⁶Gather the people. Sanctify the assembly. Assemble the elders. Gather the children, and those who nurse from breasts. Let the bridegroom go forth from his room, and the bride out of her room.

¹⁷Preoţii, slujitorii Domnului, să plîngă între tindă şi altar, şi să zică: ,,Doamne, îndură-Te de poporul Tău! Nu da de ocară moştenirea Ta, n'o face de batjocura popoarelor! Pentru ce să se zică printre neamuri: ,,Unde este Dumnezeul lor?``

¹⁷Let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, “Spare your people, Yahweh, and don’t give your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”

¹⁸Domnul a fost plin de rîvnă pentru ţara Lui, şi S'a îndurat de poporul Său.

¹⁸Then Yahweh was jealous for his land, And had pity on his people.

¹⁹Domnul a răspuns, şi a zis poporului Său: ,,Iată, vă trimet grîu, must şi untdelemn proaspăt, ca să vă săturaţi de ele, şi nu vă voi mai face de ocară între neamuri.

¹⁹Yahweh answered his people, “Behold, I will send you grain, new wine, and oil, and you will be satisfied with them; and I will no more make you a reproach among the nations.

²⁰Voi depărta dela voi pe vrăjmaşul dela miază-noapte, îl voi izgoni spre un pămînt fără apă şi pustiu, îi voi împinge partea dinainte a oştirii lui în marea de răsărit, şi coada oştirii în marea de apus; iar duhoarea lui se va ridica în sus, şi mirosul lui de putregai se va înălţa în văzduh, căci s'a crezut grozav.

²⁰But I will remove the northern army far away from you, and will drive it into a barren and desolate land, its front into the eastern sea, and its back into the western sea; and its stench will come up, and its bad smell will rise.” Surely he has done great things.

²¹Nu te teme, pămîntule, ci bucură-te şi veseleşte-te, căci Domnul face lucruri mari!

²¹Land, don’t be afraid. Be glad and rejoice, for Yahweh has done great things.

²²Nu vă temeţi, fiare de pe cîmp, căci islazurile pustiei iarăş vor înverzi, pomii îşi vor da roadele, smochinul şi viţa îşi vor da rodul lor.

²²Don’t be afraid, you animals of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness spring up, for the tree bears its fruit. The fig tree and the vine yield their strength.

²³Şi voi, copii ai Sionului, bucuraţi-vă şi veseliţi-vă în Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, căci El vă va da ploaie la vreme, vă va trimete ploaie timpurie şi tîrzie, ca odinioară.

²³“Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in Yahweh, your God; for he gives you the former rain in just measure, and he causes the rain to come down for you, the former rain and the latter rain, as before.

²⁴Ariile se vor umplea de grîu, vor geme tocitoarele şi teascurile de must şi de untdelemn,

²⁴The threshing floors will be full of wheat, and the vats will overflow with new wine and oil.

²⁵vă voi răsplăti astfel anii, pe cari i-au mîncat lăcustele Arbeh, Ielec, Hasil şi Gazam, oştirea Mea cea mare, pe care am trimes -o împotriva voastră.

²⁵I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the great locust, the grasshopper, and the caterpillar, my great army, which I sent among you.

²⁶Veţi mînca şi vă veţi sătura, şi veţi lăuda Numele Domnului, Dumnezeului vostru, care va face minuni cu voi, şi poporul Meu niciodată nu va mai fi de ocară!

²⁶You will have plenty to eat, and be satisfied, and will praise the name of Yahweh, your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and my people will never again be disappointed.

²⁷Şi veţi şti că Eu sînt în mijlocul lui Israel, că Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, şi nu este altul afară de Mine. Şi poporul Meu niciodată nu va mai fi de ocară.

²⁷You will know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Yahweh, your God, and there is no one else; and my people will never again be disappointed.

²⁸După aceea, voi turna Duhul Meu peste orice făptură; fiii şi fiicele voastre vor prooroci, bătrînii voştri vor visa visuri, şi tinerii voştri vor avea vedenii.

²⁸“It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions.

²⁹Chiar şi peste robi şi peste roabe, voi turna Duhul Meu, în zilele acelea.

²⁹And also on the servants and on the handmaids in those days, I will pour out my Spirit.

³⁰Voi face să se vadă semne în ceruri şi pe pămînt: sînge, foc, şi stîlpi de fum;

³⁰I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood, fire, and pillars of smoke.

³¹soarele se va preface în întunerec, şi luna în sînge, înainte de a veni ziua Domnului, ziua aceea mare şi înfricoşată.

³¹The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Yahweh comes.

³²Atunci oricine va chema Numele Domnului va fi mîntuit. Căci mîntuirea va fi pe muntele Sionului şi la Ierusalim, cum a făgăduit Domnul, şi între cei rămaşi, pe cari -i va chema Domnul.

³²It will happen that whoever will call on the name of Yahweh shall be saved; for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, as Yahweh has said, and among the remnant, those whom Yahweh calls.
