¹Copiii lui Israel au făcut iarăş ce nu plăcea Domnului; şi Domnul i -a dat în mînile Filistenilor, timp de patruzeci de ani.

¹The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh; and Yahweh delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.

²Era un om în Ţorea, din familia Daniţilor, care se chema Manoah. Nevastă-sa era stearpă, şi nu năştea.

²There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and didn’t bear.

³Îngerul Domnului S'a arătat femeii, şi i -a zis: ,,Iată că tu eşti stearpă, şi n'ai copii; dar vei rămînea însărcinată, şi vei naşte un fiu.

³The angel of Yahweh appeared to the woman, and said to her, “See now, you are barren, and don’t bear; but you shall conceive, and bear a son.

⁴Acum ia bine seama, să nu bei nici vin, nici băutură tare, şi să nu mănînci nimic necurat.

⁴Now therefore please beware and drink no wine nor strong drink, and don’t eat any unclean thing:

⁵Căci vei rămînea însărcinată, şi vei naşte un fiu. Briciul nu va trece peste capul lui, pentrucă acest copil va fi închinat lui Dumnezeu din pîntecele mamei lui; şi el va începe să izbăvească pe Israel din mîna Filistenilor.``

⁵for, behold, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb: and he shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”

⁶Femeia s'a dus şi a spus bărbatului ei: ,,Un om al lui Dumnezeu a venit la mine, şi avea înfăţişarea unui înger al lui Dumnezeu, o înfăţişare înfricoşată. Nu l-am întrebat de unde este, şi nici nu mi -a spus care -i este numele.

⁶Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, “A man of God came to me, and his face was like the face of the angel of God, very awesome; and I didn’t ask him where he was from, neither did he tell me his name:

⁷Dar mi -a zis: ,,Tu vei rămînea însărcinată, şi vei naşte un fiu; şi acum să nu bei nici vin nici băutură tare, şi să nu mănînci nimic necurat, pentrucă acest copil va fi închinat lui Dumnezeu din pîntecele maicii lui, pînă în ziua morţii lui``.

⁷but he said to me, ‘Behold, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.’”

⁸Manoah a făcut Domnului următoarea rugăciune: ,,Doamne, Te rog, să mai vină odată la noi omul lui Dumnezeu pe care l-ai trimes, şi să ne înveţe ce să facem pentru copilul care se va naşte!``

⁸Then Manoah entreated Yahweh, and said, “Oh, Lord, please let the man of God whom you did send come again to us, and teach us what we shall do to the child who shall be born.”

⁹Dumnezeu a ascultat rugăciunea lui Manoah, şi Îngerul lui Dumnezeu a venit iarăş la femeie. Ea şedea într'un ogor, şi Manoah, bărbatul ei, nu era cu ea.

⁹God listened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah, her husband, wasn’t with her.

¹⁰Ea a alergat repede să dea de veste bărbatului ei, şi i -a zis: ,,Iată că omul care venise în cealaltă zi la mine, mi s'a arătat iarăş``.

¹⁰The woman made haste, and ran, and told her husband, and said to him, “Behold, the man has appeared to me, who came to me that day.”

¹¹Manoah s'a sculat, a mers după nevastă-sa, s'a dus la omul acela, şi i -a zis: ,,Tu ai vorbit femeii acesteia?`` El a răspuns: ,,Eu``.

¹¹Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, “Are you the man who spoke to the woman?” He said, “I am.”

¹²Manoah a zis: ,,Acum, dacă se va împlini cuvîntul Tău, ce va trebui să păzim cu privire la copil, şi ce va fi de făcut?``

¹²Manoah said, “Now let your words happen. What shall the child’s way of life and mission be?”

¹³Îngerul Domnului a răspuns lui Manoah: ,,Femeia să se ferească de tot ce i-am spus.

¹³The angel of Yahweh said to Manoah, “Of all that I said to the woman let her beware.

¹⁴Să nu guste niciun rod din viţă, să nu bea nici vin, nici băutură tare, şi să nu mănînce nimic necurat; să păzească tot ce i-am poruncit.``

¹⁴She may not eat of anything that comes of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing; all that I commanded her let her observe.”

¹⁵Manoah a zis Îngerului Domnului: ,,Îngăduieşte-mi să Te opresc, şi să-Ţi pregătesc un ied``.

¹⁵Manoah said to the angel of Yahweh, “Please, let us detain you, that we may make a young goat ready for you.”

¹⁶Îngerul Domnului a răspuns lui Manoah: ,,Chiar dacă M'ai opri, n'aş mînca din bucatele tale; dar dacă vrei să aduci o ardere de tot, s'o aduci Domnului``. Manoah nu ştia că este Îngerul Domnului.

¹⁶The angel of Yahweh said to Manoah, “Though you detain me, I won’t eat of your bread; and if you will prepare a burnt offering, you must offer it to Yahweh.” For Manoah didn’t know that he was the angel of Yahweh.

¹⁷Şi Manoah a zis Îngerului Domnului: ,,Care-Ţi este numele, ca să-Ţi aducem slavă, cînd se va împlini cuvîntul Tău?``

¹⁷Manoah said to the angel of Yahweh, “What is your name, that when your words happen, we may honor you?”

¹⁸Îngerul Domnului i -a răspuns: ,,Pentruce Îmi ceri Numele? El este minunat.``

¹⁸The angel of Yahweh said to him, “Why do you ask about my name, since it is wonderful?”

¹⁹Manoah a luat iedul şi darul de mîncare, şi a adus jertfă Domnului pe stîncă. S'a făcut o minune, în timp ce Manoah şi nevastă-sa priveau.

¹⁹So Manoah took the young goat with the meal offering, and offered it on the rock to Yahweh. Then the angel did a wonderful thing as Manoah and his wife looked on.

²⁰Pe cînd flacăra se suia de pe altar spre cer, Îngerul Domnului S'a suit în flacăra altarului. Văzînd lucrul acesta, Manoah şi nevastă-sa au căzut cu faţa la pămînt.

²⁰For it happened, when the flame went up toward the sky from off the altar, that the angel of Yahweh ascended in the flame of the altar: and Manoah and his wife looked on; and they fell on their faces to the ground.

²¹Îngerul Domnului nu S'a mai arătat lui Manoah şi nevestei lui. Atunci Manoah a înţeles că este Îngerul Domnului,

²¹But the angel of Yahweh didn’t appear to Manoah or to his wife any more. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of Yahweh.

²²şi a zis nevestei sale: ,,Vom muri, căci am văzut pe Dumnezeu.``

²²Manoah said to his wife, “We shall surely die, because we have seen God.”

²³Nevastă-sa i -a răspuns: ,,Dacă ar fi vrut Domnul să ne omoare, n'ar fi primit din mînile noastre arderea de tot şi darul de mîncare, nu ne-ar fi arătat toate acestea, şi nu ne-ar fi făcut să auzim acum asemenea lucruri``.

²³But his wife said to him, “If Yahweh were pleased to kill us, he wouldn’t have received a burnt offering and a meal offering at our hand, neither would he have shown us all these things, nor would at this time have told such things as these.”

²⁴Femeia a născut un fiu, şi i -a pus numele Samson. Copilul a crescut, şi Domnul l -a binecuvîntat.

²⁴The woman bore a son, and named him Samson: and the child grew, and Yahweh blessed him.

²⁵Şi Duhul Domnului a început să -l mişte la Mahane-Dan, între Ţorea şi Eştaol.

²⁵The Spirit of Yahweh began to move him in Mahaneh Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
