¹Am zis: ,,Ascultaţi, căpetenii ale lui Iacov, şi mai mari ai casei lui Israel! Nu este datoria voastră să cunoaşteţi dreptatea?

¹I said, “Please listen, you heads of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel: Isn’t it for you to know justice?

²Şi totuş voi urîţi binele şi iubiţi răul, le jupuiţi pielea şi carnea de pe oase!

²You who hate the good, and love the evil; who tear off their skin, and their flesh from off their bones;

³După ce au mîncat carnea poporului Meu, după ce -i jupoaie pielea, şi -i sfărîmă oasele; îl fac bucăţi; ca ceeace se fierbe într'o oală, ca şi carnea dintr'un cazan,

³who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them, and break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron.

⁴apoi strigă către Domnul. Dar El nu le răspunde, ci Îşi ascunde Faţa de ei în vremea aceea, pentru că au făcut fapte rele.

⁴Then they will cry to Yahweh, but he will not answer them. Yes, he will hide his face from them at that time, because they made their deeds evil.”

⁵,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul despre proorocii cari rătăcesc pe poporul meu, cari, dacă au de muşcat ceva cu dinţii, vestesc pacea, iar dacă nu li se pune nimic în gură, vestesc războiul sfînt:

⁵Thus says Yahweh concerning the prophets who lead my people astray; for those who feed their teeth, they proclaim, “Peace!” and whoever doesn’t provide for their mouths, they prepare war against him:

⁶,,Din pricina aceasta, va veni noaptea peste voi... fără nici o vedenie! Şi întunerecul... fără nici o proorocie! Soarele va asfinţi peste aceşti prooroci, şi ziua se va întuneca peste ei!

⁶“Therefore night is over you, with no vision, and it is dark to you, that you may not divine; and the sun will go down on the prophets, and the day will be black over them.

⁷Văzătorii vor fi daţi de ruşine, ghicitorii vor roşi, toţi îşi vor acoperi barba; căci Dumnezeu nu va răspunde.

⁷The seers shall be disappointed, and the diviners confounded. Yes, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer from God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” .”

⁸Dar eu sînt plin de putere, plin de Duhul Domnului, sînt plin de cunoştinţa dreptăţii şi de vlagă, ca să fac cunoscut lui Iacov nelegiuirea lui, şi lui Israel păcatul lui.``

⁸But as for me, I am full of power by the Spirit of Yahweh, and of judgment, and of might, to declare to Jacob his disobedience, and to Israel his sin.

⁹,,Ascultaţi dar lucrul acesta, căpetenii ale casei lui Iacov, şi mai mari ai casei lui Israel, voi, cărora vă este scîrbă de dreptate, şi cari suciţi tot ce este drept;

⁹Please listen to this, you heads of the house of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel, who abhor justice, and pervert all equity.

¹⁰Voi cari zidiţi Sionul cu sînge, şi Ierusalimul cu nelegiuire!

¹⁰They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.

¹¹Căpeteniile cetăţii judecă pentru daruri, preoţii lui învaţă pe popor pentru plată, şi proorocii lui proorocesc pe bani; şi mai îndrăznesc apoi să se bizuie pe Domnul şi zic: ,,Oare nu este Domnul în mijlocul nostru? Nu ne poate atinge nici o nenorocire!``

¹¹Her leaders judge for bribes, and her priests teach for a price, and her prophets of it tell fortunes for money: yet they lean on Yahweh, and say, “Isn’t Yahweh in the midst of us? No disaster will come on us.”

¹²De aceea, din pricina voastră, Sionul va fi arat ca un ogor, Ierusalimul va ajunge un morman de pietre, şi muntele Templului o înălţime acoperită de păduri.

¹²Therefore Zion for your sake will be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps of rubble, and the mountain of the temple like the high places of a forest.
