¹Pavel, întemniţat al lui Isus Hristos, şi fratele Timotei, către prea iubitul Filimon, tovarăşul nostru de lucru,

¹Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon, our beloved fellow worker,

²către sora Apfia şi către Arhip, tovarăşul nostru de luptă, şi către Biserica din casa ta:

²to the beloved Apphia, to Archippus, our fellow soldier, and to the assembly in your house:

³Har şi pace dela Dumnezeu, Tatăl nostru, şi dela Domnul Isus Hristos!

³Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

⁴Mulţămesc totdeauna Dumnezeului meu, oride cîte ori îmi aduc aminte de tine în rugăciunile mele,

⁴I thank my God always, making mention of you in my prayers,

⁵pentrucă am auzit despre credinţa pe care o ai în Domnul Isus şi dragostea faţă de toţi sfinţii.

⁵hearing of your love, and of the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all the saints;

⁶Îl rog ca această părtăşie a ta la credinţă să se arate prin fapte, cari să dea la iveală tot binele ce se face între noi în Hristos.

⁶that the fellowship of your faith may become effective, in the knowledge of every good thing which is in us in Christ Jesus.

⁷În adevăr, am avut o mare bucurie şi mîngîiere, pentru dragostea ta, fiindcă, frate, inimile sfinţilor au fost înviorate prin tine.

⁷For we have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother.

⁸De aceea, măcar că am toată slobozenia în Hristos să-ţi poruncesc ce trebuie să faci,

⁸Therefore though I have all boldness in Christ to command you that which is appropriate,

⁹vreau mai de grabă să-ţi fac o rugăminte în numele dragostei, eu, aşa cum sînt, bătrînul Pavel; iar acum întemniţat pentru Hristos Isus.

⁹yet for love’s sake I rather beg, being such a one as Paul, the aged, but also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.

¹⁰Te rog pentru copilul meu, pe care l-am născut în lanţurile mele: pentru Onisim,

¹⁰I beg you for my child, whom I have become the father of in my chains, Onesimus, Onesimus means “useful.”

¹¹care altă dată ţi -a fost nefolositor, dar care acum îţi va fi folositor şi ţie şi mie.

¹¹who once was useless to you, but now is useful to you and to me.

¹²Ţi -l trimet înapoi, pe el, inima mea.

¹²I am sending him back. Therefore receive him, that is, my own heart,

¹³Aş fi dorit să -l ţin la mine, ca să-mi slujească în locul tău cît sînt în lanţuri pentru Evanghelie.

¹³whom I desired to keep with me, that on your behalf he might serve me in my chains for the Good News.

¹⁴Dar n'am vrut să fac nimic fără învoirea ta, pentruca binele, pe care mi -l faci, să nu fie silit, ci de bună voie.

¹⁴But I was willing to do nothing without your consent, that your goodness would not be as of necessity, but of free will.

¹⁵Poate că el a fost despărţit de tine, pentru o vreme, tocmai ca să -l ai pentru vecinicie,

¹⁵For perhaps he was therefore separated from you for a while, that you would have him forever,

¹⁶dar nu ca pe un rob, ci mult mai pe sus de cît pe un rob: ca pe un frate prea iubit, mai ales de mine, şi cu atît mai mult de tine, fie în chip firesc, fie în Domnul!

¹⁶no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother, especially to me, but how much rather to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.

¹⁷Dacă mă socoteşti dar ca prieten al tău, primeşte -l ca pe mine însumi.

¹⁷If then you count me a partner, receive him as you would receive me.

¹⁸Şi dacă ţi -a adus vreo vătămare sau îţi este dator cu ceva, pune aceasta în socoteala mea.

¹⁸But if he has wronged you at all, or owes you anything, put that to my account.

¹⁹Eu, Pavel, ,,voi plăti`` -scriu cu mîna mea-ca să nu-ţi zic că tu însuţi te datorezi mie.

¹⁹I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it (not to mention to you that you owe to me even your own self besides).

²⁰Da, frate, fă-mi binele acesta în Domnul, şi înviorează-mi inima în Hristos!

²⁰Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in the Lord.

²¹Ţi-am scris bizuit pe ascultarea ta, şi ştiu că vei face chiar mai mult de cît îţi zic.

²¹Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even beyond what I say.

²²Tot odată, pregăteşte-mi un loc de găzduire, căci trag nădejde să vă fiu dăruit, datorită rugăciunilor voastre.

²²Also, prepare a guest room for me, for I hope that through your prayers I will be restored to you.

²³Epafra, tovarăşul meu de temniţă în Hristos Isus, îţi trimete sănătate;
