¹(O cîntare a treptelor.) Doamne, adu-Ţi aminte de David, şi de toate necazurile lui!

²Adu-Ţi aminte cum a jurat el Domnului, şi a făcut următoarea juruinţă Puternicului lui Iacov:

²how he swore to Yahweh, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:

³,,Nu voi intra în cortul în care locuiesc, nu mă voi sui în patul în care mă odihnesc,

³“Surely I will not come into the structure of my house, nor go up into my bed;

⁴nu voi da domn ochilor mei, nici aţipire pleoapelor mele,

⁴I will not give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids;

⁵pînă nu voi găsi un loc pentru Domnul, o locuinţă pentru Puternicul lui Iacov.`` -

⁵until I find out a place for Yahweh, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

⁶Iată, am auzit vorbindu-se despre el la Efrata, l-am găsit în ogorul Iaar...

⁶Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah. We found it in the field of Jaar:

⁷,,Haidem la locuinţa Lui, să ne închinăm înaintea aşternutului picioarelor Lui!...

⁷“We will go into his dwelling place. We will worship at his footstool.

⁸Scoală-Te, Doamne, vino la locul tău de odihnă, Tu şi Chivotul măreţiei Tale!

⁸Arise, Yahweh, into your resting place; you, and the ark of your strength.

⁹Preoţii Tăi să se îmbrace în neprihănire, şi credincioşii Tăi să scoată strigăte de bucurie!

⁹Let your priest be clothed with righteousness. Let your saints shout for joy!”

¹⁰Pentru robul Tău David, nu lepăda pe unsul Tău!`` -

¹⁰For your servant David’s sake, don’t turn away the face of your anointed one.

¹¹Domnul a jurat lui David adevărul, şi nu Se va întoarce dela ce a jurat: ,,Voi pune pe scaunul tău de domnie un fiu din trupul tău.

¹¹Yahweh has sworn to David in truth. He will not turn from it: “I will set the fruit of your body on your throne.

¹²Dacă fiii tăi vor păzi legămîntul Meu, şi învăţăturile Mele, pe cari li le voi da, vor şedea şi fiii lor în veci pe scaunul tău de domnie.`` -

¹²If your children will keep my covenant, my testimony that I will teach them, their children also will sit on your throne forevermore.”

¹³Da, Domnul a ales Sionul, l -a dorit ca locuinţă a Lui, şi a zis:

¹³For Yahweh has chosen Zion. He has desired it for his habitation.

¹⁴,,Acesta este locul Meu de odihnă pe vecie; voi locui în el, căci l-am dorit.

¹⁴“This is my resting place forever. Here I will live, for I have desired it.

¹⁵Îi voi binecuvînta din belşug hrana, voi sătura cu pîne pe săracii lui.

¹⁵I will abundantly bless her provision. I will satisfy her poor with bread.

¹⁶Voi îmbrăca în mîntuire pe preoţii lui, şi credincioşii lui vor scoate strigăte de bucurie.

¹⁶Her priests I will also clothe with salvation. Her saints will shout aloud for joy.

¹⁷Acolo voi înălţa puterea lui David, voi pregăti o candelă unsului Meu,

¹⁷There I will make the horn of David to bud. I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.

¹⁸voi îmbrăca cu ruşine pe vrăjmaşii lui, şi peste el va străluci cununa lui.``

¹⁸I will clothe his enemies with shame, but on himself, his crown will be resplendent.”
