¹(Un psalm al lui David.) Domnul este lumina şi mîntuirea mea: de cine să mă tem? Domnul este sprijinitorul vieţii mele: de cine să-mi fie frică?

¹Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?

²Cînd înaintează cei răi împotriva mea, ca să-mi mănînce carnea, tocmai ei-prigonitorii şi vrăjmaşii mei-se clatină şi cad.

²When evildoers came at me to eat up my flesh, even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

³Chiar o oştire de ar tăbărî împotriva mea, inima mea tot nu s'ar teme. Chiar război de s'ar ridica împotriva mea, tot plin de încredere aş fi.

³Though an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war should rise against me, even then I will be confident.

⁴Un lucru cer dela Domnul, şi -l doresc fierbinte: aş vrea să locuiesc toată viaţa mea în Casa Domnului, ca să privesc frumuseţea Domnului, şi să mă minunez de Templul Lui.

⁴One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek after, that I may dwell in the house of Yahweh all the days of my life, to see Yahweh’s beauty, and to inquire in his temple.

⁵Căci El mă va ocroti în coliba Lui, în ziua necazului, mă va ascunde supt acoperişul cortului Lui, şi mă va înălţa pe o stîncă.

⁵For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion. In the covert of his tabernacle he will hide me. He will lift me up on a rock.

⁶Iată că mi se şi înalţă capul peste vrăjmaşii mei, cari mă înconjoară: voi aduce jertfe în cortul Lui în sunetul trîmbiţei, voi cînta şi voi lăuda pe Domnul.

⁶Now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me. I will offer sacrifices of joy in his tent. I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to Yahweh.

⁷Ascultă-mi, Doamne, glasul cînd Te chiem: ai milă de mine şi ascultă-mă!

⁷Hear, Yahweh, when I cry with my voice. Have mercy also on me, and answer me.

⁸Inima îmi zice din partea Ta: ,,Caută Faţa Mea!`` Şi Faţa Ta, Doamne, o caut!

⁸When you said, “Seek my face,” my heart said to you, “I will seek your face, Yahweh.”

⁹Nu-mi ascunde Faţa Ta, nu îndepărta cu mînie pe robul Tău! Tu eşti ajutorul meu, nu mă lăsa, nu mă părăsi, Dumnezeul mîntuirii mele!

⁹Don’t hide your face from me. Don’t put your servant away in anger. You have been my help. Don’t abandon me, neither forsake me, God of my salvation.

¹⁰Căci tatăl meu şi mama mea mă părăsesc, dar Domnul mă primeşte.

¹⁰When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up.

¹¹Învaţă-mă, Doamne, calea Ta, şi povăţuieşte-mă pe cărarea cea dreaptă, din pricina vrăjmaşilor mei.

¹¹Teach me your way, Yahweh. Lead me in a straight path, because of my enemies.

¹²Nu mă lăsa la bunul plac al protivnicilor mei! Căci împotriva mea se ridică nişte martori mincinoşi, şi nişte oameni, cari nu suflă decît asuprire.

¹²Don’t deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen up against me, such as breathe out cruelty.

¹³O! dacă n'aş fi încredinţat că voi vedea bunătatea Domnului pe pămîntul celor vii!...

¹³I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living.

¹⁴Nădăjduieşte în Domnul! Fii tare, îmbărbătează-ţi inima, şi nădăjduieşte în Domnul!

¹⁴Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh.
