¹(Către mai marele cîntăreţilor. Un psalm al fiilor lui Core. O cîntare.) Dumnezeule, am auzit cu urechile noastre, şi părinţii noştri ne-au povestit lucrările, pe cari le-ai făcut pe vremea lor, în zilele de odinioară.

¹We have heard with our ears, God; our fathers have told us, what work you did in their days, in the days of old.

²Cu mîna Ta, ai izgonit neamuri, ca să -i sădeşti pe ei, ai lovit popoare, ca să -i întinzi pe ei.

²You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.

³Căci nu prin sabia lor au pus mîna pe ţară, nu braţul lor i -a mîntuit, ci dreapta Ta, braţul Tău, lumina Feţei Tale, pentrucă îi iubeai.

³For they didn’t get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them.

⁴Dumnezeule, Tu eşti Împăratul meu: porunceşte izbăvirea lui Iacov!

⁴You are my King, God. Command victories for Jacob!

⁵Cu Tine doborîm pe vrăjmaşii noştri, cu Numele Tău zdrobim pe protivnicii noştri.

⁵Through you, will we push down our adversaries. Through your name, will we tread them under who rise up against us.

⁶Căci nu în arcul meu mă încred, nu sabia mea mă va scăpa;

⁶For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

⁷ci Tu ne izbăveşti de vrăjmaşii noştri, şi dai de ruşine pe cei ce ne urăsc.

⁷But you have saved us from our adversaries, and have shamed those who hate us.

⁸Noi, în fiecare zi, ne lăudăm cu Dumnezeu, şi pururea slăvim Numele Tău. -(Oprire).

⁸In God we have made our boast all day long, we will give thanks to your name forever. Selah.

⁹Dar Tu ne lepezi, ne acoperi de ruşine, nu mai ieşi cu oştirile noastre;

⁹But now you rejected us, and brought us to dishonor, and don’t go out with our armies.

¹⁰ne faci să dăm dosul înaintea vrăjmaşului, şi ceice ne urăsc, ridică prăzi luate dela noi.

¹⁰You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take spoil for themselves.

¹¹Ne dai ca pe nişte oi de mîncat, şi ne risipeşti printre neamuri.

¹¹You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations.

¹²Vinzi pe poporul Tău pe nimic, şi nu -l socoteşti de mare preţ.

¹²You sell your people for nothing, and have gained nothing from their sale.

¹³Ne faci de ocara vecinilor noştri, de batjocura şi de rîsul celor ce ne înconjoară.

¹³You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.

¹⁴Ne faci de pomină printre neamuri, şi pricină de clătinare din cap printre popoare.

¹⁴You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

¹⁵Ocara mea este totdeauna înaintea mea, şi ruşinea îmi acopere faţa,

¹⁵All day long my dishonor is before me, and shame covers my face,

¹⁶la glasul celui ce mă batjocoreşte şi mă ocărăşte, la vederea vrăjmaşului şi răzbunătorului.

¹⁶At the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.

¹⁷Toate acestea ni se întîmplă, fără ca noi să Te fi uitat, fără să fi călcat legămîntul Tău:

¹⁷All this has come on us, yet have we not forgotten you, Neither have we been false to your covenant.

¹⁸da, inima nu ni s'a abătut, paşii nu ni s'au depărtat de pe cărarea Ta,

¹⁸Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path,

¹⁹ca să ne zdrobeşti în locuinţa şacalilor, şi să ne acoperi cu umbra morţii.

¹⁹Though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.

²⁰Dacă am fi uitat Numele Dumnezeului nostru, şi ne-am fi întins mînile spre un dumnezeu străin,

²⁰If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange god;

²¹n'ar şti Dumnezeu lucrul acesta, El, care cunoaşte tainele inimii?

²¹won’t God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.

²²Dar din pricina Ta sîntem junghiaţi în toate zilele, sîntem priviţi ca nişte oi sortite pentru măcelărie.

²²Yes, for your sake we are killed all day long. We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.

²³Trezeşte-Te! Pentruce dormi, Doamne? Trezeşte-Te! Nu ne lepăda pe vecie!

²³Wake up! Why do you sleep, Lord? The word translated “Lord” is “Adonai.” Arise! Don’t reject us forever.

²⁴Pentruce Îţi ascunzi Faţa? Pentruce uiţi de nenorocirea şi apăsarea noastră?

²⁴Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?

²⁵Căci sufletul ne este doborît în ţărînă de mîhnire, trupul nostru este lipit de pămînt.

²⁵For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body clings to the earth.

²⁶Scoală-Te, ca să ne ajuţi! Izbăveşte-ne, pentru bunătatea Ta!

²⁶Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your loving kindness’ sake.
