¹A stalo sa, keď sa navrátil Saul od prenasledovania Filištínov, že mu oznámili a riekli: hľa, Dávid je na púšti Én-gedi.

¹And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of En-gedi.

²Vtedy pojal Saul so sebou tri tisíce mužov, vybraných z celého Izraela, a odišiel hľadať Dávida a jeho mužov na skalách kamzíkov.

²Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats.

³A prišiel k ovčím ohradám pri ceste, kde je jaskyňa, do ktorej vošiel Saul zakryť svoje nohy, kým Dávid a jeho mužovia sedeli v úzadí po stranách jaskyne.

³And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet. Now David and his men were abiding in the innermost parts of the cave.

⁴A mužovia Dávidovi povedali jemu, Dávidovi: Hľa, toto je deň, o ktorom ti riekol Hospodin: Hľa, ja dám tvojho nepriateľa do tvojej ruky, a učiníš mu to, čo bude dobré v tvojich očiach. A Dávid vstal a odrezal potichu krýdlo plášťa Saulovho.

⁴And the men of David said unto him, Behold, the day of which Jehovah said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thy hand, and thou shalt do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily.

⁵Lež potom bilo Dávida jeho srdce, pretože odrezal krýdlo plášťa Saulovho.

⁵And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.

⁶A riekol svojim mužom: Nech ma Hospodin zachráni od toho, aby som to mal učiniť svojmu pánovi, pomazanému Hospodinovmu, vystrieť svoju ruku na neho, lebo je pomazaný Hospodinov.

⁶And he said unto his men, Jehovah forbid that I should do this thing unto my lord, Jehovah's anointed, to put forth my hand against him, seeing he is Jehovah's anointed.

⁷A tak zabránil Dávid svojim mužom tými slovami a nedal im, aby povstali proti Saulovi. A Saul vstal, vyšiel z jaskyne a išiel svojou cestou.

⁷So David checked his men with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. And Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.

⁸Potom vstal i Dávid a vyjdúc z jaskyne volal za Saulom a vravel: Môj pane, kráľu! A Saul sa ozrel zpät. A Dávid sa zohnul tvárou k zemi a poklonil sa.

⁸David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David bowed with his face to the earth, and did obeisance.

⁹A Dávid riekol Saulovi: Prečo počúvaš ľudské reči, keď ti hovoria, že hľa, Dávid hľadá tvoje zlé!?

⁹And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearkenest thou to men's words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt?

¹⁰Hľa, dnes vidia tvoje oči, že ťa Hospodin bol dnes vydal do mojej ruky v jaskyni, a vraveli mi, aby som ťa zabil; ale moje oko sa zľutovalo nad tebou, a riekol som: Nevystriem svojej ruky na svojho pána, lebo je pomazaný Hospodinov.

¹⁰Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that Jehovah had delivered thee to-day into my hand in the cave: and some bade me kill thee; but [mine eye] spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth my hand against my lord; for he is Jehovah's anointed.

¹¹A, môj otče, pozri aj pozri krýdlo svojho plášťa tu v mojej ruke, lebo že som odrezal krýdlo tvojho plášťa a nezabil som ťa, po tom poznaj a vidz, že nie je zlého v mojej ruke ani prestúpenia, ani som sa ničím neprehrešil proti tebe, a ty čiháš po mojej duši, aby si ju odňal.

¹¹Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the skirt of thy robe in my hand; for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe, and killed thee not, know thou and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in my hand, and I have not sinned against thee, though thou huntest after my life to take it.

¹²Hospodin nech súdi medzi mnou a medzi tebou, a Hospodin nech ma pomstí na tebe, ale moja ruka sa ťa nedotkne.

¹²Jehovah judge between me and thee, and Jehovah avenge me of thee; but my hand shall not be upon thee.

¹³Jako hovorí dávne porekadlo: Od bezbožných vychádza bezbožnosť. Ale, hovorím, moja ruka sa ťa nedotkne.

¹³As saith the proverb of the ancients, Out of the wicked cometh forth wickedness; but my hand shall not be upon thee.

¹⁴Veď za kýmže vyšiel kráľ Izraelov? Kohože honíš? Mŕtveho psa? Jednu blchu?

¹⁴After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom dost thou pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea.

¹⁵Ale Hospodin bude sudcom a bude súdiť medzi mnou a medzi tebou a nech pohliadne a rozsúdi moju pru a nech ma vysúdi z tvojej ruky.

¹⁵Jehovah therefore be judge, and give sentence between me and thee, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of thy hand.

¹⁶A stalo sa, keď dohovoril Dávid tie slová Saulovi, že povedal Saul: Či je to tvoj hlas, môj synu, Dávide? A Saul pozdvihnúc svoj hlas plakal

¹⁶And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.

¹⁷a povedal Dávidovi: Spravedlivejší si ako ja, lebo ty si sa mi odplatil dobrým, a ja som sa ti odplatil zlým.

¹⁷And he said to David, Thou art more righteous than I; for thou hast rendered unto me good, whereas I have rendered unto thee evil.

¹⁸Lebo ty si to dnes ukázal tým, že si mi urobil dobré, tým, že ma Hospodin bol vydal do tvojej ruky, a nezabil si ma.

¹⁸And thou hast declared this day how that thou hast dealt well with me, forasmuch as when Jehovah had delivered me up into thy hand, thou killedst me not.

¹⁹Lebo keď najde niekto svojho nepriateľa, či ho prepustí dobrou cestou? Ale Hospodin nech ti odplatí dobrým za to, čo si mi vykonal tohoto dňa!

¹⁹For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go well away? wherefore Jehovah reward thee good for that which thou hast done unto me this day.

²⁰A teraz hľa, viem, že istotne budeš kraľovať, a že v tvojej ruke bude stáť kráľovstvo Izraelovo.

²⁰And now, behold, I know that thou shalt surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thy hand.

²¹Tak teraz mi prisahaj na Hospodina, že nevyplieniš môjho semena po mne a že nevyhladíš môjho mena z domu môjho otca.

²¹Swear now therefore unto me by Jehovah, that thou wilt not cut off my seed after me, and that thou wilt not destroy my name out of my father's house.

²²A Dávid prisahal Saulovi. Potom odišiel Saul do svojho domu, a Dávid a jeho mužovia odišli hore do pevnosti.

²²And David sware unto Saul. And Saul went home; but David and his men gat them up unto the stronghold.
