1Po týchto veciach stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo k Abramovi vo videní povediac: Neboj sa Abrame, ja som tvojím štítom a tvojou odplatou veľmi velikou.
1After these things the word of Jehovah came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram; I am thy shield, thy exceeding great reward.
2Na to povedal Abram: Ó, Pane, Hospodine, čože mi dáš, keď ja ta odchádzam bezdetný, a majiteľom môjho domu je damašský Eliézer!
2And Abram said, Lord Jehovah, what wilt thou give me? seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus.
3A ešte povedal Abram: Hľa, mne si nedal semena, a tak hľa, cudzí syn môjho domu bude mojím dedičom.
3And Abram said, Lo, to me thou hast given no seed, and behold, a son of my house will be mine heir.
4A hľa, slovo Hospodinovo stalo sa k nemu povediac: Ten nebude tvojím dedičom, ale ten, ktorý vyjde z tvojho života, ten bude tvojím dedičom.
4And behold, the word of Jehovah [came] to him, saying, This shall not be thine heir, but he that will come forth out of thy body shall be thine heir.
5A Hospodin ho vyviedol von a riekol: Nože pozri hore na nebo a spočítaj hviezdy, ak ich budeš môcť spočítať. A potom mu riekol: Tak bude tvoje semä.
5And he led him out, and said, Look now toward the heavens, and number the stars, if thou be able to number them. And he said to him, So shall thy seed be!
6A uveril Hospodinovi, a on mu to počítal za spravedlivosť.
6And he believed Jehovah; and he reckoned it to him [as] righteousness.
7A riekol mu: Ja som Hospodin, ktorý som ťa vyviedol z Úra Chaldejov, aby som ti dal túto zem, aby si ju zdedil trvale.
7And he said to him, I am Jehovah who brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give thee this land to possess it.
8A povedal: Ó, Pane, Hospodine, po čom poznám, že ju zdedím trvale?
8And he said, Lord Jehovah, how shall I know that I shall possess it?
9A riekol mu: Vezmi mi trojročnú jalovicu, trojročnú kozu a trojročného barana a hrdličku a holúbä.
9And he said to him, Take me a heifer of three years old, and a she-goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtle-dove, and a young pigeon.
10Vtedy mu vzal všetky tie veci a poroztínal ich na poly a dal každú polovicu oproti jej polovici, ale vtákov nerozťal.
10And he took all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid the half of each opposite its fellow; but the birds he did not divide.
11Tu sa spustili draví vtáci na mŕtvoly, a Abram ich odháňal.
11And the birds of prey came down on the carcases; and Abram scared them away.
12A stalo sa, keď zapádalo slnce, že padol tuhý spánok na Abrama, a hľa, náramný strach a veľká tma pripádala na neho.
12And as the sun was just going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, a horror, a great darkness, fell upon him.
13A Hospodin riekol Abramovi: Vedz istotne, že tvoje semeno bude pohostínom v zemi, ktorá nebude patriť im, a budú im, ľuďom tej zeme, slúžiť, a budú ich trápiť štyristo rokov.
13And he said to Abram, Know assuredly that thy seed will be a sojourner in a land [that is] not theirs, and they shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years.
14Ale aj národ, ktorému budú slúžiť, ja budem súdiť, a potom vyjdú s veľkým majetkom.
14But also that nation which they shall serve I will judge; and afterwards they shall come out with great property.
15A ty pojdeš ku svojim otcom v pokoji; pochovaný budeš v dobrej starobe.
15And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
16Ale štvrté pokolenie sa navráti sem, lebo ešte doteraz nie je doplnená neprávosť Amoreja.
16And [in the] fourth generation they shall come hither again; for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
17A stalo sa, keď zašlo slnce, že nastala hustá tma, a hľa, zjavila sa dymiaca pec a horiaca fakľa, ktorá prešla pomedzi tie rozťaté diely.
17And it came to pass when the sun had gone down, and it was dark, that behold, there was a smoking furnace, and a flame of fire which passed between those pieces.
18Toho dňa učinil Hospodin smluvu s Abramom a riekol: Tvojmu semenu som dal túto zem od Egyptskej rieky až po veľkú rieku, rieku Eufrates,
18On the same day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates;
19Keneja, Kenizeja, Kadmoneja,
19the Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
20Heteja, Ferezeja i Refaimov,
20and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaim,
21ako aj Amoreja, Kananeja, Girgazeja a Jebuzeja.
21and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
