¹A keď bolo Abramovi deväťdesiatdeväť rokov, ukázal sa mu Hospodin a riekol mu: Ja som El-šaddaj. Choď predo mnou a buď dokonalý!

¹And Abram was ninety-nine years old, when Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said to him, I [am] the Almighty ùGod: walk before my face, and be perfect.

²A dám svoju smluvu, aby bola medzi mnou a medzi tebou, a rozmnožím ťa prenáramne.

²And I will set my covenant between me and thee, and will very greatly multiply thee.

³Vtedy padol Abram na svoju tvár, a Bôh hovoril s ním a riekol:

³And Abram fell on his face; and God talked with him, saying,

⁴Ja som, hľa, moja smluva je s tebou, a budeš otcom mnohých národov.

⁴It is I: behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of a multitude of nations.

⁵Ani sa už viacej nebude volať tvoje meno Abram, ale tvoje meno bude Abrahám, lebo som ťa učinil otcom mnohých národov.

⁵And thy name shall no more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of a multitude of nations have I made thee.

⁶Učiním to, aby si sa náramne rozplodil a učiním ťa v národy a kráľovia vyjdú z teba.

⁶And I will make thee exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

⁷A postavím svoju smluvu medzi sebou a medzi tebou a medzi tvojím semenom po tebe, po ich pokoleniach, za večnú smluvu, aby som ti bol Bohom i tvojmu semenu po tebe.

⁷And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and thy seed after thee in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to thee, and to thy seed after thee.

⁸A dám tebe i tvojmu semenu po tebe zem tvojho pohostínstva, celú zem Kanaánovu za večné državie, a budem im Bohom.

⁸And I give to thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojourning, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be a God to them.

⁹A potom riekol Bôh Abrahámovi: A ty budeš zachovávať moju smluvu, ty i tvoje semeno po tebe, po svojich pokoleniach.

⁹And God said to Abraham, And [as for] thee, thou shalt keep my covenant, thou and thy seed after thee in their generations.

¹⁰Toto je moja smluva, ktorú budete zachovávať, medzi mnou a medzi sebou a medzi tvojím semenom po tebe: Obrezať sa vám má každý mužského pohlavia.

¹⁰This is my covenant which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee -- that every male among you be circumcised.

¹¹Obrežete telo svojej neobrezanosti, a to bude znamením smluvy medzi mnou a medzi vami.

¹¹And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and [that] shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.

¹²A keď mu bude osem dní, bude vám obrezaný každý mužského pohlavia po všetkých vašich pokoleniach ako narodený doma, tak i kúpený za striebro od ktoréhokoľvek cudzozemca, ktorý nie je z tvojho semena;

¹²And at eight days old shall every male in your generations be circumcised among you -- he who is born in the house, and he who is bought with money, any stranger who is not of thy seed.

¹³istotne bude obrezaný jako narodený v tvojom dome, tak i kúpený za striebro, a moja smluva na vašom tele bude večnou smluvou.

¹³He who is born in thy house, and he who is bought with thy money, must be circumcised; and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

¹⁴Ale neobrezaný mužského pohlavia, ktorý by neobrezal tela svojej neobrezanosti, tá duša bude vyťatá zo svojho ľudu, zrušil moju smluvu.

¹⁴And the uncircumcised male who hath not been circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his peoples: he hath broken my covenant.

¹⁵A ešte riekol Bôh Abrahámovi: Čo sa týka Sáraje, tvojej ženy, nebudeš viacej nazývať jej meno: Sáraj, lebo jej meno je Sára.

¹⁵And God said to Abraham, [As to] Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.

¹⁶A požehnám ju a tiež ti dám z nej samej syna, a požehnám ju, a bude rozmnožená v národy; kráľovia národov povstanú z nej.

¹⁶And I will bless her, and I will give thee a son also of her; and I will bless her, and she shall become nations: kings of peoples shall be of her.

¹⁷Vtedy padol Abrahám na svoju tvár a smial sa a povedal vo svojom srdci: Či azda storočnému sa narodí dieťa? A či Sára, ktorá má deväťdesiat rokov, porodí?

¹⁷And Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall [a child] be born to him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?

¹⁸A Abrahám povedal Bohu: Ó, keby len Izmael žil pred tebou!

¹⁸And Abraham said to God, Oh that Ishmael might live before thee!

¹⁹A Bôh riekol: Áno, Sára, tvoja žena, ti porodí syna, a nazveš jeho meno Izák. A postavím svoju smluvu s ním za večnú smluvu, a tak i jeho semeno po ňom.

¹⁹And God said, Sarah thy wife shall indeed bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish my covenant with him, for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him.

²⁰Aj o Izmaela som Ťa vyslyšal. Hľa, požehnám a rozplodím ho a rozmnožím ho prenáramne. Dvanástoro kniežat splodí, a učiním ho veľkým národom.

²⁰And for Ishmael I have heard thee: behold, I will bless him, and will make him fruitful, and will very greatly multiply him; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

²¹Ale svoju smluvu postavím s Izákom, ktorého ti porodí Sára o tomto čase budúceho roku.

²¹But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to thee at this appointed time in the next year.

²²A keď dohovoril s ním, vystúpil Bôh od Abraháma hore do neba.

²²And he left off talking with him; and God went up from Abraham.

²³A Abrahám vzal Izmaela, svojho syna, i všetkých, ktorí sa narodili v jeho dome, jako i všetkých tých, ktorých bol nadobudol za svoje striebro, všetkých mužského pohlavia medzi mužmi domu Abrahámovho, a obrezal telo ich neobriezky hneď toho istého dňa, tak ako s ním o tom hovoril Bôh.

²³And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all who were born in his house, and all who were bought with his money -- every male among the people of Abraham's house -- and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin on that same day, as God had said to him.

²⁴A Abrahámovi bolo deväťdesiatdeväť rokov, keď si obrezal telo svojej neobriezky.

²⁴And Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

²⁵A Izmaelovi, jeho synovi, bolo trinásť rokov, keď si obrezal telo svojej neobriezky.

²⁵And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

²⁶Hneď toho istého dňa bol obrezaný Abrahám aj Izmael, jeho syn.

²⁶In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son;

²⁷A tak i všetci mužovia jeho domu, jako narodení v dome, tak i nadobudnutý za striebro od cudzozemca, boli obrezaní razom s ním.

²⁷and all the men of his house, born in his house, or bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.
