¹A po tých udalostiach stalo sa toto. Nábot Jizreelský mal vinicu, ktorá bola v Jizreele vedľa paláca Achaba, kráľa Samárie.

¹It happened after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.

²A Achab hovoril Nábotovi a riekol: Daj mi svoju vinicu a bude mi zahradou na zeleniny, lebo je blízko vedľa môjho domu, a dám ti za ňu lepšiu vinicu, ako je tá. Alebo ak sa ti ľúbi, dám ti za ňu peňazí, koľko je hodna.

²Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying, “Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near to my house; and I will give you for it a better vineyard than it. Or, if it seems good to you, I will give you its worth in money.”

³Ale Nábot riekol Achabovi: Od toho nech ma zachová Hospodin, aby som dal tebe dedičstvo svojich otcov!

³Naboth said to Ahab, “May Yahweh forbid me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you!”

⁴Vtedy prišiel Achab do svojho domu, namrzený a nahnevaný pre slovo, ktoré mu hovoril Nábot Jizreelský, vraj nedám ti dedičstva svojich otcov. A ľahnúc si na svoju posteľ odvrátil svoju tvár a nejedol chleba.

⁴Ahab came into his house sullen and angry because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” He laid himself down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.

⁵V tom prišla k nemu Jezábeľ, jeho žena, a hovorila mu: Prečo je tvoj duch namrzený, a neješ chleba?

⁵But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said to him, “Why is your spirit so sad, that you eat no bread?”

⁶A hovoril jej a povedal: Preto, lebo som hovoril Nábotovi Jizreelskému a povedal som mu: Daj mi svoju vinicu za peniaze, alebo ak sa ti ľúbi, dám ti za ňu inú vinicu. Ale on odpovedal: Nedám ti svojej vinice.

⁶He said to her, “Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him, ‘Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ He answered, ‘I will not give you my vineyard.’”

⁷Na to mu riekla Jezábeľ, jeho žena: A ty teraz vykonávaš kráľovskú moc nad Izraelom? Vstaň pojedz chlieb a buď dobrej vôle. Ja ti dám vinicu Nábota Jizreelského.

⁷Jezebel his wife said to him, “Do you now govern the kingdom of Israel? Arise, and eat bread, and let your heart be merry. I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.”

⁸A napísala list v mene Achabovom a zapečatila jeho pečaťou a poslala list starším a popredným, ktorí boli v jeho meste, a ktorí bývali s Nábotom.

⁸So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters to the elders and to the nobles who were in his city, who lived with Naboth.

⁹A v liste napísala nasledovne: Vyhláste pôst a posaďte Nábota na prvé miesto ľudu.

⁹She wrote in the letters, saying, “Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.

¹⁰A posaďte dvoch mužov, synov beliála, naproti nemu, ktorí budú svedčiť na neho povediac: Zlorečil si Bohu i kráľovi. Potom ho vyveďte a ukameňujte, aby zomrel.

¹⁰Set two men, base fellows, before him, and let them testify against him, saying, ‘You cursed God and the king!’ Then carry him out, and stone him to death.”

¹¹A mužovia jeho mesta, starší a poprední, ktorí bývali v jeho meste, urobili tak, ako im rozkázala Jezábeľ, ako bolo napísané v liste, ktorý im poslala.

¹¹The men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who lived in his city, did as Jezebel had sent to them, according as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them.

¹²Vyhlásili pôst a posadili Nábota na predné miesto ľudu.

¹²They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.

¹³Potom prišli dvaja mužovia, synovia beliála, a posadili sa naproti nemu. A tí mužovia beliála svedčili na neho, na Nábota, pred ľudom a riekli: Nábot zlorečil Bohu i kráľovi! A vyviedli ho von za mesto a uhádzali ho kamením, až i zomrel.

¹³The two men, the base fellows, came in and sat before him. The base fellows testified against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, “Naboth cursed God and the king!” Then they carried him out of the city, and stoned him to death with stones.

¹⁴Potom poslali k Jezábeli zprávu: Nábot je ukameňovaný a zomrel.

¹⁴Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, “Naboth has been stoned, and is dead.”

¹⁵A stalo sa, keď počula Jezábeľ, že je Nábot ukameňovaný a že zomrel, že povedala Jezábeľ Achabovi: Vstaň, vezmi do vlastníctva vinicu Nábota Jizreelského, ktorú ti nechcel dať za peniaze, lebo Nábot už nežije, ale zomrel.

¹⁵It happened, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, “Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money; for Naboth is not alive, but dead.”

¹⁶A keď počul Achab, že zomrel Nábot, vstal Achab, aby odišiel dolu do vinice Nábota Jizreelského, aby ju prevzal do vlastníctva.

¹⁶It happened, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.

¹⁷Vtedy stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo k Eliášovi Tišbänskému povediac:

¹⁷The word of Yahweh came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

¹⁸Vstaň, idi dolu vústrety Achabovi, izraelskému kráľovi, ktorý býva v Samárii, hľa, je vo vinici Nábotovej, do ktorej sišiel, aby ju prevzal do vlastníctva.

¹⁸“Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who dwells in Samaria. Behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, where he has gone down to take possession of it.

¹⁹A budeš mu hovoriť a povieš: Takto hovorí Hospodin: Zavraždil si? A či vezmeš aj do vlastníctva? A ešte mu budeš hovoriť a povieš: Takto hovorí Hospodin: Na mieste, na ktorom psi lízali krv Nábotovu psi budú lízať i tvoju krv.

¹⁹You shall speak to him, saying, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “Have you killed and also taken possession?”’ You shall speak to him, saying, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth, dogs will lick your blood, even yours.”’”

²⁰Na to povedal Achab Eliášovi: Či si ma našiel, môj nepriateľu? A riekol: Našiel, pretože si sa predal robiť to, čo je zlé v očiach Hospodinových.

²⁰Ahab said to Elijah, “Have you found me, my enemy?” He answered, “I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do that which is evil in the sight of Yahweh.

²¹Hľa, uvediem na teba zlé a odpracem po tebe a vyplienim Achabovi močiaceho na stenu, a to zavretého i opusteného, v Izraelovi.

²¹Behold, I will bring evil on you, and will utterly sweep you away and will cut off from Ahab everyone who urinates against a wall, or, male and him who is shut up and him who is left at large in Israel.

²²A dám, aby bol tvoj dom ako dom Jeroboáma, syna Nebátovho a jako dom Bášu, syna Achiášovho, pre popudzovanie, ktorým si ma popudzoval, a spôsobil si to, aby hrešil Izrael.

²²I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah for the provocation with which you have provoked me to anger, and have made Israel to sin.”

²³Aj o Jezábeli hovoril Hospodin a riekol: Psi budú žrať Jezábeľ medzi múrami Jizreela.

²³Yahweh also spoke of Jezebel, saying, “The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the rampart of Jezreel.

²⁴Toho, kto zomrie Achabovi v meste, budú žrať psi, a toho, kto zomrie na poli, budú žrať nebeskí vtáci.

²⁴The dogs will eat he who dies of Ahab in the city; and the birds of the sky will eat he who dies in the field.”

²⁵Len že nebolo takého jako Achab, ktorý sa predal robiť to, čo je zlé v očiach Hospodinových, ktorého zvádzala Jezábeľ, jeho žena.

²⁵But there was none like Ahab, who sold himself to do that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

²⁶A páchal veľkú ohavnosť chodiac za ukydanými bohy celkom tak, ako robili Amoreji, ktorých vyhnal Hospodin zpred tvári synov Izraelových.

²⁶He did very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites did, whom Yahweh cast out before the children of Israel.

²⁷A stalo sa, keď počul Achab tie slová, že roztrhol svoje rúcho a vzal smútočnú vrecovinu na svoje telo a postil sa, líhal na vrecovine a chodil krotký.

²⁷It happened, when Ahab heard those words, that he tore his clothes, and put sackcloth on his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.

²⁸Vtedy sa stalo slovo Hospodinovo k Eliášovi Tišbänskému povediac:

²⁸The word of Yahweh came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

²⁹Či si videl, že sa ponížil Achab predo mnou? Pretože sa ponížil pred mojou tvárou, neuvediem toho zlého za jeho dní; za dní jeho syna uvediem to zlé na jeho dom.

²⁹“See how Ahab humbles himself before me? Because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days; but in his son’s days will I bring the evil on his house.”
