¹A keď prišiel Rechabeám do Jeruzalema, shromaždil dom Júdov a Benjaminov, sto osemdesiat tisíc vybraných bojovníkov, aby bojovali proti Izraelovi a tak prinavrátili kráľovstvo Rechabeámovi.

¹When Rehoboam had come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, one hundred eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.

²Ale stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo k Šemaiášovi, mužovi Božiemu, povediac:

²But the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

³Povedz Rechabeámovi, synovi Šalamúnovmu, judskému kráľovi, i celému Izraelovi, ktorý je v Judsku i v Benjaminovi, a riekni:

³“Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,

⁴Takto hovorí Hospodin: Nechoďte hore ani nebojujte proti svojim bratom! Navráťte sa každý do svojho domu, lebo odo mňa sa stala tá vec. A poslúchli slová Hospodinove a vrátili sa a neišli proti Jeroboámovi.

⁴‘Thus says Yahweh, “You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers! Return every man to his house; for this thing is of me.”’” So they listened to the words of Yahweh, and returned from going against Jeroboam.

⁵A Rechabeám býval v Jeruzaleme a vystavil mestá na ohradené mestá v Judsku.

⁵Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, and built cities for defense in Judah.

⁶A vystavil Betlehem, Étam a Tekou,

⁶He built Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,

⁷Bét-cúr, Socho a Adullam,

⁷Beth Zur, and Soco, and Adullam,

⁸Gát, Maréšu a Zíf,

⁸and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,

⁹Adoraim, Lachiš a Azéku,

⁹and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,

¹⁰Careu, Ajalon a Hebron, ktoré boly v Judsku a v Benjaminovi, ohradené mestá.

¹⁰and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities.

¹¹A keď opevnil ohradené mestá, dal do nich vojvodov a zásoby potravín a oleja i vína

¹¹He fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and stores of food, and oil and wine.

¹²a do jedného každého mesta veľké štíty a kopije a náramne ich opevnil a mal Júdu a Benjamina.

¹²He put shields and spears in every city, and made them exceeding strong. Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.

¹³A kňazi a Levitovia, ktorí boli v celom Izraelovi, postavili sa k nemu zo všetkých svojich krajov.

¹³The priests and the Levites who were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their border.

¹⁴Lebo Levitovia opustili svoje predmestia i svoje državie a odišli do Judska a do Jeruzalema, preto že ich zavrhol Jeroboám i jeho synovia, aby nekonali kňazskej služby Hospodinovi.

¹⁴For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest’s office to Yahweh;

¹⁵A postavil si zvláštnych kňazov pre výšiny, pre démonov a pre teľatá, ktoré spravil.

¹⁵and he appointed him priests for the high places, and for the male goats, and for the calves which he had made.

¹⁶A za nimi zo všetkých pokolení Izraelových tí, ktorí oddali svoje srdce hľadať Hospodina, Boha Izraelovho, prišli do Jeruzalema obetovať Hospodinovi, Bohu svojich otcov.

¹⁶After them, out of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their hearts to seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.

¹⁷A tak upevnili kráľovstvo Júdovo a posilňovali Rechabeáma, syna Šalamúnovho, tri roky; lebo chodili po ceste Dávidovej a Šalamúnovej tri roky.

¹⁷So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years; for they walked three years in the way of David and Solomon.

¹⁸A Rechabeám si vzal ženu, Machalať, dcéru Jerimóta, syna Dávidovho, a Abichaiľ, dcéru Eliába, syna Izaiho,

¹⁸Rehoboam took him a wife, Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and of Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;

¹⁹ktorá mu porodila synov, Jehuša, Šemariáša a Zahama.

¹⁹and she bore him sons: Jeush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.

²⁰A po nej si vzal Maachu, dcéru Absalomovu, ktorá mu porodila Abiáša, Attaiho, Zízu a Šelomita.

²⁰After her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom; and she bore him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.

²¹A Rechabeám miloval Maachu, dcéru Absalomovu, nado všetky svoje ženy a svoje ženiny, lebo si bol vzal osemnásť žien a šesťdesiat ženín a splodil dvadsaťosem synov a šesťdesiat dcér.

²¹Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and sixty concubines, and became the father of twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.)

²²A Rechabeám postavil Abiáša, syna Maachy, za hlavu, za vojvodu medzi jeho bratmi, lebo ho mienil učiniť kráľom.

²²Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah to be chief, the prince among his brothers; for he intended to make him king.

²³A počínal si rozumne a rozsadil zo všetkých svojich synov do všetkých zemí Júdu a Benjamina, do všetkých ohradených miest, a dal im množstvo poživy a napýtal im hromadu žien.

²³He dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, to every fortified city: and he gave them food in abundance. He sought for them many wives.
