¹A po tých veciach za kraľovania Artaxerxa, perzského kráľa, išiel hore Ezdráš, syn Seraiáša, syna Azariáša, syna Hilkiáša.

¹Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,

²syna Šallúma, syna Cádoka, syna Achitúba,

²the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,

³syna Amariáša, syna Azariáša, syna Merajóta,

³the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,

⁴syna Zerachiáša, syna Uzziho, syna Bukkiho,

⁴the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,

⁵syna Abišuu, syna Pinchsa, syna Eleazára, syna Árona, najvyššieho kňaza.

⁵the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest;

⁶Ten istý Ezdráš išiel hore z Babylona, a bol to učený človek, zbehlý v zákone Mojžišovom, ktorý dal Hospodin, Bôh Izraelov, a kráľ mu dal podľa toho, jako bola ruka Hospodina, jeho Boha, na ňom, všetko, čo si žiadal.

⁶this Ezra went up from Babylon: and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which Yahweh, the God of Israel, had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of Yahweh his God on him.

⁷A išli hore aj niektorí zo synov Izraelových i z kňazov i Levitov i spevákov i vrátnych i Netinejcov do Jeruzalema v siedmom roku kráľa Artaxerxa.

⁷There went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinim, to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.

⁸A prišiel do Jeruzalema piateho mesiaca, a to bol siedmy rok kráľov.

⁸He came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.

⁹Lebo prvého dňa prvého mesiaca odišiel hore z Babylona a prvého dňa piateho mesiaca prišiel do Jeruzalema tak, ako bola dobrá ruka jeho Boha na ňom.

⁹For on the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon; and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God on him.

¹⁰Lebo Ezdráš bol ustavil svoje srdce zpytovať zákon Hospodinov a činiť a učiť v Izraelovi ustanovenie a súd.

¹⁰For Ezra had set his heart to seek the law of Yahweh, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and ordinances.

¹¹A toto je odpis listu, ktorý dal kráľ Artaxerxes kňazovi Ezdrášovi, učenému v zákone, učenému v slovách prikázaní Hospodinových a jeho ustanovení o Izraelovi:

¹¹Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, even the scribe of the words of the commandments of Yahweh, and of his statutes to Israel:

¹³Odo mňa je daný rozkaz, aby každý, kto by v mojom kráľovstve z ľudu Izraelovho a z jeho kňazov i Levitov chcel dobrovoľne ísť do Jeruzalema s tebou, aby išiel,

¹³I make a decree, that all those of the people of Israel, and their priests and the Levites, in my realm, who are minded of their own free will to go to Jerusalem, go with you.

¹⁴pretože si poslaný od kráľa a od jeho siedmich radcov, aby si prezkúmal veci o Judsku a o Jeruzaleme podľa zákona svojho Boha, ktorý máš vo svojej ruke,

¹⁴Because you are sent of the king and his seven counselors, to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of your God which is in your hand,

¹⁵a aby si doniesol striebro a zlato, ktoré dobrovoľne obetovali kráľ a jeho radcovia Bohu Izraelovmu, ktorého príbytok je v Jeruzaleme,

¹⁵and to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counselors have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,

¹⁶a všetko striebro a zlato, ktoré najdeš v celej krajine Babylonskej s dobrovoľnou obeťou ľudu a kňazov, ktorí by dobrovoľne obetovali pre dom svojho Boha, ktorý je v Jeruzaleme.

¹⁶and all the silver and gold that you shall find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem;

¹⁷Preto nakúp bez odkladu za to striebro volov, baranov, oviec ako aj ich obilných obetí a ich liatych obetí a obetuj ich na oltári domu vášho Boha, ktorý je v Jeruzaleme.

¹⁷therefore you shall with all diligence buy with this money bulls, rams, lambs, with their meal offerings and their drink offerings, and shall offer them on the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.

¹⁸A čo sa ti bude vidieť za dobré i tvojim bratom učiniť s ostatkom striebra a zlata, učiňte podľa vôle svojho Boha.

¹⁸Whatever shall seem good to you and to your brothers to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, do that after the will of your God.

¹⁹A nádoby, ktoré sú ti dané pre službu domu tvojho Boha, oddaj všetky pred Bohom Jeruzalema.

¹⁹The vessels that are given to you for the service of the house of your God, deliver before the God of Jerusalem.

²⁰A ostatné, čo by bolo potrebné pre dom tvojho Boha, čo by ti pripadlo dať, to dáš z domu pokladov kráľových.

²⁰Whatever more shall be needful for the house of your God, which you shall have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king’s treasure house.

²¹A ja, kráľ Artaxerxes, rozkazujem všetkým pokladníkom, ktorí ste za riekou, aby sa všetko, o čo by vás požiadal kňaz Ezdráš, učený v zákone Boha nebies, vykonalo bez odkladu,

²¹I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers who are beyond the River, that whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done with all diligence,

²²až do sto hrivien striebra a až do sto korcov pšenice a až do sto batov vína a až do sto batov oleja a soli bez zápisu.

²²to one hundred talents of silver, and to one hundred measures of wheat, and to one hundred baths of wine, and to one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.

²³Všetko, čo je z rozkazu Boha nebies, nech sa vykoná presne pre dom Boha nebies. Lebo načo má byť zanietená prchlivosť na kráľovstvo kráľa a na jeho synov?!

²³Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be done exactly for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?

²⁴A tiež vám oznamujeme, že čo do všetkých kňazov, Levitov, spevákov, vrátnych, Netinejcov a vôbec tých, ktorí konajú službu v dome toho Boha, nikto nemá práva uvaliť na nich daň, poplatok alebo clo.

²⁴Also we inform you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, the singers, porters, Nethinim, or servants of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose tribute, custom, or toll, on them.

²⁵A ty, Ezdrášu, podľa múdrosti svojho Boha, ktorou si obdarený, ustanov vrchnostenské osoby a sudcov, ktorí by súdili všetok ľud, ktorý je za riekou, zo všetkých tých, ktorí sú znalí zákonov tvojho Boha, a toho, kto by ich neznal, naučíte.

²⁵You, Ezra, after the wisdom of your God who is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges, who may judge all the people who are beyond the River, all such as know the laws of your God; and teach him who doesn’t know them.

²⁶Ale nad každým, nech by to bol ktokoľvek, kto by nečinil zákona tvojho Boha a zákona kráľovho, nech sa bez odkladu vykoná súd, už či aby zomrel či aby bol poslaný do vyhnanstva či aby bol pokutovaný na majetku alebo aby bol zatvorený do žalára.-

²⁶Whoever will not do the law of your God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed on him with all diligence, whether it be to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.

²⁷Požehnaný Hospodin, Bôh našich otcov, ktorý dal takú vec do srdca kráľovho, aby okrášlil dom Hospodinov, ktorý je v Jeruzaleme!

²⁷Blessed be Yahweh, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of Yahweh which is in Jerusalem;

²⁸A naklonil ku mne milosť pred kráľom a pred jeho radcami a pred všetkými kniežatami kráľovými, mocnými! A ja súc posilnený podľa toho, jako bola ruka Hospodina, môjho Boha, nado mnou, shromaždil som popredných z Izraela, aby išli so mnou hore.

²⁸and has extended loving kindness to me before the king, and his counselors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. I was strengthened according to the hand of Yahweh my God on me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.
