¹Ale hovorím: Po celý čas, dokiaľ je dedič nedospelý, v ničom nie je rozdielny od sluhu, hoci je pánom všetkého;

¹But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a bondservant, though he is lord of all;

²ale je pod tútormi a pod správcami, až do času, ktorý určil otec.

²but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed by the father.

³Tak i my: keď sme boli nedospelí, boli sme podrobení pod živly sveta, v službu.

³So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental principles of the world.

⁴Ale keď prišla plnosť času, poslal Bôh svojho Syna, pošlého zo ženy, podrobeného pod zákon,

⁴But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law,

⁵aby tých, ktorí boli daní pod zákon, vykúpil, aby sme vzali nám určené synovstvo.

⁵that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of children.

⁶A že ste synovia, poslal Bôh Ducha svojho Syna do našich sŕdc, ktorý volá: Abba Otče!

⁶And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Abba is a Greek spelling for the Aramaic word for “Father” or “Daddy” used in a familiar, respectful, and loving way. Father!”

⁷Takže už nie si sluha, ale syn, a jestli syn, aj dedič Boží skrze Krista.

⁷So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

⁸Ale vtedy neznajúc Boha slúžili ste bohom, ktorí prírodou nie sú nimi.

⁸However at that time, not knowing God, you were in bondage to those who by nature are not gods.

⁹Ale teraz poznajúc Boha, ba čo viac, poznaní súc od Boha, jakože sa opät obraciate k bezvládnym a biednym živlom, ktorým chcete zase slúžiť znova?

⁹But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, why do you turn back again to the weak and miserable elemental principles, to which you desire to be in bondage all over again?

¹⁰Bedlivo pozorujete na dni, mesiace, časy a roky.

¹⁰You observe days, months, seasons, and years.

¹¹Bojím sa o vás, aby som nejako nebol nadarmo pracoval na vás.

¹¹I am afraid for you, that I might have wasted my labor for you.

¹²Buďte jako ja, lebo aj ja som ako vy, bratia, prosím vás. Nič ste mi neublížili.

¹²I beg you, brothers, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You did me no wrong,

¹³A viete, že som vám tam prv pre slabosť tela zvestoval evanjelium.

¹³but you know that because of weakness of the flesh I preached the Good News to you the first time.

¹⁴A nepohŕdli ste mojím pokušením na mojom tele ani ste ním neopovrhli, ale ako anjela Božieho ste ma prijali, jako Krista Ježiša.

¹⁴That which was a temptation to you in my flesh, you didn’t despise nor reject; but you received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.

¹⁵Jaké bolo teda vaše blahoslavenstvo a kde je?! Lebo vám dávam svedoctvo, že keby to bolo bývalo možné, boli by ste si vylúpili svoje oči a dali mi.

¹⁵What was the blessing you enjoyed? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.

¹⁶Tak teda som sa vám stal nepriateľom pravdu vám hovoriac?

¹⁶So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?

¹⁷Nedobre horlia za vás, ale vytvoriť vás chcú, aby ste za nich horlili.

¹⁷They zealously seek you in no good way. No, they desire to alienate you, that you may seek them.

¹⁸A dobre je horliť v dobrom vždycky, a nie len v tedy, keď som prítomný u vás.

¹⁸But it is always good to be zealous in a good cause, and not only when I am present with you.

¹⁹Moje deti, ktorých zase rodím v bolestiach, dokiaľ nebude Kristus vypodobený vo vás!

¹⁹My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ is formed in you—

²⁰No, chcel by som teraz byť prítomný u vás a zmeniť svoj hlas, lebo som v rozpakoch o vás.

²⁰but I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my tone, for I am perplexed about you.

²¹Povedzte mi vy, ktorí to chcete byť pod zákonom, či nečujete zákona?

²¹Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, don’t you listen to the law?

²²Lebo je napísané, že Abrahám mal dvoch synov, jedného od dievky, otrokyne, a jedného od slobodnej, zákonitej ženy.

²²For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the handmaid, and one by the free woman.

²³Ale ten od dievky sa narodil podľa tela a ten zo slobodnej zo zasľúbením,

²³However, the son by the handmaid was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise.

²⁴ktoré to veci sú alegóriou, obrazom lebo to sú tie dve smluvy, jedna s vrchu Sinai, rodiaca deti v rabstvo, a to je Hagar.

²⁴These things contain an allegory, for these are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children to bondage, which is Hagar.

²⁵Lebo Hagarou je vrch Sinai v Arábii a zodpovedá terajšiemu Jeruzalemu, lebo aj on slúži v rabstve so svojimi deťmi.

²⁵For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to the Jerusalem that exists now, for she is in bondage with her children.

²⁶Ale ten vrchný Jeruzalem je slobodnou, ktorý je matkou všetkých nás.

²⁶But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

²⁷Lebo je napísané: Veseľ sa, neplodná, ty, ktorá nerodíš! Vykríkni a zvolaj, ktorá nepracuješ ku porodu! Lebo viacej bude mať detí opustená ako tá, ktorá má muža.

²⁷For it is written, “Rejoice, you barren who don’t bear. Break forth and shout, you that don’t travail. For more are the children of the desolate than of her who has a husband.” Isaiah 54:1

²⁸Ale my, bratia, sme jako Izák, deťmi zasľúbenia.

²⁸Now we, brothers, as Isaac was, are children of promise.

²⁹Lež ako vtedy ten narodený podľa tela prenasledoval toho, ktorý bol podľa Ducha, tak i teraz.

²⁹But as then, he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now.

³⁰Ale čo hovorí Písmo? Vyžeň dievku i jej syna, lebo syn dievky nebude dediť so synom slobodnej.

³⁰However what does the Scripture say? “Throw out the handmaid and her son, for the son of the handmaid will not inherit with the son of the free woman.” Genesis 21:10

³¹A tak tedy, bratia, nie sme deťmi dievky, ale deti slobodnej.

³¹So then, brothers, we are not children of a handmaid, but of the free woman.
