¹Nech sa neľaká vaše srdce! Veríte v Boha, verte aj vo mňa.

¹ “Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me.

²V dome môjho Otca je mnoho príbytkov; keby nebolo tak, povedal by som vám to,

² In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.

³pretože vám idem prihotoviť miesto a keď odídem a prihotovím vám miesto, prijdem zase a poberiem si vás k sebe, aby ste tam, kde som ja, aj vy boli.

³ If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also.

⁴A kam ja idem, viete, aj cestu viete.

⁴ Where I go, you know, and you know the way.”

⁵Tomáš mu povedal: Pane, nevieme, kam ideš, a jako môžeme vedieť cestu?

⁵Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?”

⁶A Ježiš mu povedal: Ja som cesta i pravda i život; nikto neprijde k Otcovi, len skrze mňa.

⁶Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

⁷Keby ste boli mňa poznali, boli by ste poznali aj môjho Otca; ale odteraz ho už znáte aj ste ho videli.

⁷ If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him, and have seen him.”

⁸Na to mu povedal Filip: Pane, ukáž nám Otca, a bude nám dosť.

⁸Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”

⁹Ježiš mu povedal: Taký dlhý čas som s vami, a nepoznal si ma Filipe? Kto mňa videl, videl Otca, a jako ty hovoríš: Ukáž nám Otca?

⁹Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, ‘Show us the Father?’

¹⁰Či neveríš, že ja som v Otcovi a Otec vo mne? Slová, ktoré vám ja hovorím, nehovorím sám od seba, ale Otec, ktorý prebýva vo mne, on činí tie skutky.

¹⁰ Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father who lives in me does his works.

¹¹Verte mi, že ja som v Otcovi a Otec vo mne. A jestli nie, pre samy tie skutky mi verte.

¹¹ Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

¹²Ameň, ameň vám hovorím, že ten, kto verí vo mňa, skutky, ktoré ja činím, bude aj on činiť, a ešte aj väčšie ako tie bude činiť, lebo ja idem k svojmu Otcovi.

¹² Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.

¹³A čokoľvek budete prosiť v mojom mene, učiním to, aby bol Otec oslávený v Synovi.

¹³ Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

¹⁴Keď budete niečo prosiť v mojom mene, ja učiním.

¹⁴ If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.

¹⁵Ak ma milujete, ostríhajte moje prikázania,

¹⁵ If you love me, keep my commandments.

¹⁶a ja požiadam Otca, a dá vám iného Tešiteľa, aby bol s vami na veky,

¹⁶ I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, Greek Parakleton: Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, and Comforter. that he may be with you forever,—

¹⁷toho Ducha pravdy, ktorého svet nemôže prijať, pretože ho nevidí ani ho nezná. Ale vy ho znáte, pretože prebýva u vás a bude vo vás.

¹⁷ the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.

¹⁸Neopustím vás, aby ste boli sirotami, prijdem k vám.

¹⁸ I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you.

¹⁹Ešte krátku chvíľu, a svet ma viacej neuvidí, ale vy ma uvidíte, lebo ja žijem, aj vy žiť budete.

¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world will see me no more; but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also.

²⁰Toho dňa vy poznáte, že ja som vo svojom Otcovi a vy vo mne a ja vo vás.

²⁰ In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

²¹Kto má moje prikázania a ostríha ich, to je ten, kto ma miluje; a ten, kto mňa miluje, bude milovaný od môjho Otca, i ja ho budem milovať a zjavím mu seba.

²¹ One who has my commandments, and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him.”

²²Na to mu povedal Júdas, nie ten Iškariotský: Pane, čo sa stalo, že máš nám zjaviť seba a nie svetu?

²²Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, what has happened that you are about to reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?”

²³Ježiš odpovedal a riekol mu: Keď ma niekto miluje, ten bude ostríhať moje slovo, a môj Otec ho bude milovať, a prijdeme k nemu a urobíme si u neho príbytok.

²³Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him.

²⁴Kto ma nemiluje, ten neostríha mojich slov. A slovo ktoré čujete, nie je moje slovo, ale toho, ktorý ma poslal, Otcovo.

²⁴ He who doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words. The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me.

²⁵Toto som vám hovoril, kým som ešte bol u vás.

²⁵ I have said these things to you, while still living with you.

²⁶Ale Tešiteľ, Svätý Duch, ktorého pošle Otec v mojom mene, ten vás naučí všetkému a pripomenie vám všetko, čo som vám povedal.

²⁶ But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.

²⁷Pokoj vám zanechávam, svoj pokoj vám dávam; nie tak, ako dáva svet, ja vám dávam. Nech sa neľaká vaše srdce ani nestrachuje!

²⁷ Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

²⁸Počuli ste, že som vám ja povedal: Idem a zase prijdem k vám. Keby ste ma milovali, radovali by ste sa, že som povedal: Idem k Otcovi, lebo Otec je väčší ako ja.

²⁸ You heard how I told you, ‘I go away, and I come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I said ‘I am going to my Father;’ for the Father is greater than I.

²⁹A povedal som vám to teraz, prv ako sa stane, aby ste, keď sa stane, uverili.

²⁹ Now I have told you before it happens so that, when it happens, you may believe.

³⁰Už nebudem viacej mnoho s vami hovoriť, lebo ide knieža tohoto sveta, a nemá na mne ničoho;

³⁰ I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me.

³¹ale aby svet poznal, že milujem Otca, a že jako mi prikázal Otec, tak činím. Vstaňte, poďme odtiaľto!

³¹ But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father commanded me, even so I do. Arise, let us go from here.
