¹A stalo sa, keď počul o tom Jabin, kráľ Chácora, že poslal posolstvo k Jobábovi, kráľovi Mádona, a ku kráľovi Šimrona a ku kráľovi Achšafa,

¹It happened, when Jabin king of Hazor heard of it, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, to the king of Shimron, to the king of Achshaph,

²jako aj ku kráľom, ktorí boli od severa na vrchoch i na rovine južne od Kineróta i na nížine i na výšine Dóra od mora, na západe,

²and to the kings who were on the north, in the hill country, in the Arabah south of Chinneroth, in the lowland, and in the heights of Dor on the west,

³ku Kananejovi na východe i na západe i k Amorejovi, Hetejovi, Ferezejovi, Jebuzejovi na vrchoch a k Hevejovi pod Hermonom v zemi Micpa.

³to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the hill country, and the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

⁴A vyšli oni aj všetky ich vojská s nimi, mnoho ľudstva, jako piesku, ktorý je na brehu mora čo do množstva, i koní i vozov veľmi mnoho.

⁴They went out, they and all their armies with them, many people, even as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with very many horses and chariots.

⁵A síduc sa všetci tí kráľovia prišli a táborili spoločne pri vodách Mérom, aby bojovali proti Izraelovi.

⁵All these kings met together; and they came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.

⁶A Hospodin riekol Jozuovi: Neboj sa ich, lebo zajtra o tomto čase ich ja vydám všetkých, aby boli pobití pred Izraelom. Ich koňom popodrezuješ žily a ich vozy spáliš ohňom.

⁶Yahweh said to Joshua, “Don’t be afraid because of them; for tomorrow at this time, I will deliver them up all slain before Israel. You shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire.”

⁷A tak prišiel na nich Jozua i všetok bojovný ľud s ním ku vodám Mérom neočakávane a dopadli na nich.

⁷So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and fell on them.

⁸A Hospodin ich vydal do ruky Izraela, a bili ich a honili ich až po veľký Sidon a až po Misrefót-májim a až po údolie Micpe na východ, a bili ich, až im neponechali nikoho živého.

⁸Yahweh delivered them into the hand of Israel, and they struck them, and chased them to great Sidon, and to Misrephoth Maim, and to the valley of Mizpeh eastward. They struck them until they left them none remaining.

⁹A Jozua im učinil tak, ako mu rozkázal Hospodin. Ich koňom popodrezoval žily a ich vozy spálil ohňom.

⁹Joshua did to them as Yahweh told him. He hamstrung their horses and burnt their chariots with fire.

¹⁰A Jozua sa vrátil toho času a zaujal Chácor a jeho kráľa zabil mečom, lebo Chácor bol predtým hlavou všetkých tých kráľovstiev.

¹⁰Joshua turned back at that time, and took Hazor, and struck its king with the sword: for Hazor used to be the head of all those kingdoms.

¹¹A pobili všetky duše, ktoré boly v ňom, ostrím meča zarieknuc ich na záhubu; nezostalo niktorej duše živej, a Chácor spálil ohňom.

¹¹They struck all the souls who were in it with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them. There was no one left who breathed. He burnt Hazor with fire.

¹⁴A všetku korisť tých miest i dobytok ulúpili sebe synovia Izraelovi. Len ľudí bili všetkých ostrím meča, dokiaľ ich nevyhladili. Neponechali niktorej duše.

¹⁴The children of Israel took all the spoil of these cities, with the livestock, as spoils for themselves; but every man they struck with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them. They didn’t leave any who breathed.

¹⁵Jako prikázal Hospodin Mojžišovi, svojmu služobníkovi, tak prikázal i Mojžiš Jozuovi, a tak učinil Jozua; nenechal nevykonaného ani slova zo všetkého toho, čo prikázal Hospodin Mojžišovi.

¹⁵As Yahweh commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua. Joshua did so. He left nothing undone of all that Yahweh commanded Moses.

¹⁶A tedy vzal Jozua celú tú zem, vrchy aj celý juh i celú zem Góšen i nížinu i rovinu i pohorie Izraelovo i jeho nížiny.

¹⁶So Joshua captured all that land, the hill country, all the South, all the land of Goshen, the lowland, the Arabah, the hill country of Israel, and the lowland of the same;

¹⁷Od Lysého vrchu, ktorý sa tiahne hore do Seira až po Baalgáda na doline Libanona pod vrchom Hermonom, i všetkých ich kráľov zajal a zbil ich a pobil ich.

¹⁷from Mount Halak, that goes up to Seir, even to Baal Gad in the valley of Lebanon under Mount Hermon. He took all their kings, struck them, and put them to death.

¹⁸Dlhý čas viedol Jozua vojnu so všetkými tými kráľmi.

²¹V tom čase prišiel Jozua a vyplienil Enákov s vrchov, z Hebrona, z Debíra, z Anába a so všetkých vrchov Judska jako i so všetkých vrchov Izraelska, s ich mestami ich vyhladil Jozua, zarieknutých na záhubu.

²¹Joshua came at that time, and cut off the Anakim from the hill country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel: Joshua utterly destroyed them with their cities.

²²Nezostalo niktorého z Enákov v zemi synov Izraelových, iba v Gaze, v Gáte a v Ašdóte pozostali.

²³A tedy vzal Jozua celú zem podľa všetkého toho, čo hovoril Hospodin Mojžišovi, a Jozua ju dal Izraelovi do dedičstva podľa ich údelov po ich pokoleniach. A tak mala zem pokoj od vojny.

²³So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that Yahweh spoke to Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. The land had rest from war.
